I hope, after the ETH hard fork, Ethereum will book the second place strongly for a long time.
the "second" place has never belonged to one altcoin for long. a lot of different shitcoins in the past 10 years have come and gone whilst taking that rank for some time before they disappear. you can find snapshots of coinmarketcap showing you this throughout the years. i am afraid it is time for a new coin to take that place now and with ETH hard fork which is going to split it into two different chains we may see that be hastened . |

If we extrapolate the tendency we can assume for 99% that ripple will outperform ethereum in future. There is no sense to keep attention if eth on the second place or not. It doesn't worth it.

Ethereum is bumping along with bitcoin but the ripple doesn't made any sound so far. Instead of that this coin dumped more in the market. If you wish to invest on this shit ripple kind change the mindset and invest your fund in a right way.
Ripple needs to have special buy and investment to pull back its dump.

I think this road still not finished and ripple will over take ethereum again and will fall afterthat, situation will change several times but at the end I'm sure ethereum will stay winner.

There are lots of competing coins in the crypto space. The main competitor of ethereum now is ripple and this has been happening since 2018. My though now is that, can ethereum still maintain that position for a long time again, without ripple taking over?
If ripple should have any particular and developmental update now, we would see it rise and it could possibly take over the second place again. So also, ethereum needs a major update to continue.

It's not about position but the clear demand of the projects in the marketcap. As you can see ethereum becomes a hot topic of issues for the past few days, weeks and months of 2018 and now this year, I guess we can see how they will be off charted again by bombardment of good news and fud by the society. Ethereum will always become the hot topic anytime, the hardfork this coin will give its popularity among the speculators again. So many people are waiting for that and they hope that the hardfork will be running perfectly. Ether gets less inflation means more price at the same time. |

Looks like Ethereum get stronger again...
I think Ethereum will beat ripple forever after the hardfork. And the price will continue to rise.

This is quite an expected step, because the prices for ETH began their growth in anticipation of the release of the hard fork, which should be released on February 27, so I think that this should happen and this is a normal movement as a whole.

I think the second place will be changing continuously between Ethereum and Ripple. Because, after the big collapse of Ethereum, it lost the previous high potential and popularity. But when everyone was in loose, Ripple gave investors/supporters a very good profit, and still, XRP's price is very strong! So, Ripple's popularity is being increased! Right now ETH market cap higher than Ripple, but anytime Ripple can take the second place again!

I agree, but only for the next few more months, if not only weeks. Anything can happen of course but Ethereum is finally going to get their full changes end of this month (even if it's delayed yet again maybe March). I'm actually very very surprised that price has been increasing even with the long delay of their upgrades. But okay, maybe it just becomes an ETH pump, but the same can be said for any Ripple increase... nothing but a centralized pump. Don't forget too, EOS has enough power to topple both Ripple and ETH, if it wants to. They're all centralized enough to do anything. |

Why are people surprise about this, if any project is going to displace Ethereum, it is not Ripple, even this year, I do expect the rank of Ripple to go down on the coin market cap, there is one project to watch out for this year and that is BNB tokens, likely to move to top five project this time next year, real use case, DEX launch and expect their ICO launch pad to be a real success

In my opinion, Ethereum is a more innovative and investment-attractive project than Ripple. The fact that the capitalization of XRP was some time higher, does not mean anything. Very soon there will be an update in the Ethereum network and this will help the project to increase the gap from XRP.

I just think it is unfair for ethereum to be even compared to ripple to begin with. Ripple is just a shady company that makes deals with banks and financial companies in order to help them decrease their transaction prices and use ripple instead of the old methods and make money that way and people support that coin because all those banks doing all those transactions would be equal to a lot of ripple bought and moved and people bet on that but it is highly decentralized.
Look at ethereum, with its amazingly fast transactions (and cheap) and blockchain that has smart contracts and a lot of utility, ethereum is exactly what an improved and developed bitcoin could look like and we are still trying to show off which one is better, to me the war has been over for years, I would opt for ethereum over ripple any given day.

This is awesome and I truly believe that ETH deserves to be on top of the market. XRP is a good investment instrument, but in my opinion it is not a crypto currency at all. Hope that ETH will grow further after the next update.

The good news is that ETH is now officially overtaken by XRP and its price will increase further because hard-fork of ETH (Constantinople).
now the gap is 1 billion 6 hundred million dollars. This is definitely a great distance for XRP to catch up in a short time.
We should celebrate and wait for the price of the ETH to be pumped in the near future.
