Today, I saw one user that has account name is very long, that does not fully display in the left right of his/ her post.
JeffJohnsonTheNameYouKnow
I don't know how many characters are maximum allowable one for account name.
Has the forum actually had restrictions for it?

If not, I think that we should have such limitation.
Such a extremely long account name might lead to mis-reading, hard to remember. I don't like it.
It is nearly same issues with account names that contain strange symbols.

I tried to register an account, and could only fit 25 characters on the text field; so yea, there's a limit. The limit might be a little bit too long, but whatever. It isn't a big deal in my opinion, just a slight annoyance.

i have seen users with a bitcoin address as their user-name and since a bitcoin address (base58 encoded) is a 26-35 alphanumeric string the limit must be at least above 26 characters.

Wait what. These accounts are probably registered before they implemented a character limit right?

that was my mistake, with some search they seem to be small and only look like bitcoin addresses:
1MLyg5WVFSMifFjkrZiyGW2nw
15gzjihwvlqq7puvr3wrsqv5i
16P7cPxX5aGzFijz7uDiQiB3p
all of them 25 character long. now i am wondering what are these strings?
edit: they seem to be part of addresses like the first one is 1MLyg5WVFSMifFjkrZiyGW2nw7WnsU8AZ4

Yea they're most probably people that copy-pasted their wallet address on the username text field expecting the whole string to fit. 🤷‍♀️

-snip- I don't like it.
No one cares, JK.

Some will not be displayed only if your monitor has less than 1280px width since the forum is using "px" instead of "em" for font-size and percentage (%) for table/div sizes.
It's not much on an annoyance but still, you can view the full name by hovering your mouse pointer above the username: JeffJohnsonTheNameYouKnow.

I agree that a user name should fit into a single line in a profile, but then I don't think that all caps names should be allowed either. I'm a traditional Englishman, so I don't think tattoos ( glyphs) should be included. However, the world is changing, and people even eat and smoke as they are walking the streets these days. Smiley

I'm also for limitation. Everything should look straight and take one line when a user open a thread and see posts there. But the number of such super long niks is short, so I do not see any big problem in that. Mostly users chose something short and fun.

Such a extremely long account name might lead to mis-reading, hard to remember.

I dare say it would be much easier to remember an account with a very long username which does not fit into the designated space, than to remember a regular username.
This is not much of a problem, from previous comments there is a limitation, and not many people stretch that to the limit

The long name that you complain is better than others name, some like code. Atleast as you can see they give effort to their name. Cheesy

However, i also object to long usernames.

Names don't matter not unless you are known here.

User mentioned in OP, look like used the full 25 character allowed.
Though big names usually do not annoy me but I prefer a small one, just like mine though I was told by others it just sound like bot.
(Now wondering how much I am in danger of getting nuked in newbies days due to my username.)

Looking over @Piggy’s December full profile scrape, the greatest username lengths are:

Remember remember the 5th of November (37 characters, 2011 account)
Andre Jensen (World Bitcoin Exchange) (37 characters, 2011 account)
17ujzChRb6VPQGyANVyktc1du2Hrjfwhsz (34 characters, 2010 account)
jaychristopher spendbitcoins.com (32 characters, 2012 account)
Richard at Wendel Services, LLC (31 characters, 2011 account)
