SyntaxError: invalid syntax Electrum-3.3.4 run_electrum

I downloaded Electrum-3.3.4.tar.gz, unpacked, and ran ./run_electrum.

I get:

    sys.exit(f"Error: {str(e)}. Try 'sudo python3 -m pip install <module-name>'")
                                                                               ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

I didn't want to "update", but my balance-monitoring using 2.9.3 stopped working at some, it's just perpetual "Synchronizing".

So shoddy all round.  Not an ongoing solution to anything, will find new solution for monitoring address balances.

First thing about electrum 3+ is that it uses a different (newer) python.
Second, you may want to search/check threads since others also had issues with Electrum upgrades.

Edit: OP use the app image version they are now offering. It contains all the dependencies: https://electrum.org/#download
