Hello,

I'm trying to get in contact with Blokforge since they seem to have a few Canaan Avalon 921 miners (20TH/s models) in stock, but I guess they're busy or won't respond unless I make an order.

Problem is I am not entirely sure what I need to get up and running with.  Do I need a power supply unit for every miner for example, or will one PSU supply several miners?

I'd like to order 7x Avalon 921 miners, the controller unit(s), and PSU and any cables, but not sure exactly what I need.

And whether I need a new router with X ports to plug them in with ethernet cables,

Thank you for any help.

PS.  I'm open to the idea of Bitmain miners if I can get about 100 TH/s out of a few of them, but I don't know where I can buy them in Australia.  Preferrably S9i models or similar.  So I would need 7 or 8 miners I suppose, if they are 14TH/s models.  I do prefer the Avalon discount on the 921s though!

Cheers.

This really belongs in Mining Support...
Poke around the Canaan.io site - all the information is there such as this setup video Since at least the A7xx models they all setup the same way.

The basics are the same as it was with the 8 series.

You can have a look at the basic setup by reading my 8 series reviews (841 for example).

You can see the url link in my signature space.

Simple answer is:

1) Each miner needs a PSU for that miner.

2) To achieve your goal of 100 TH, you would need a minimum of 1 controller - these run up to 20 Avalon Miners.

That 1 controller will only require 1 Ethernet connection so you likely won't need to upgrade your router or anything of the sort.

I've only ever dealt with Blokforge, but you can also check out cryptouniverse for Avalon products I believe they are also offering discounted miners. As for looking for other Miners in Australia, you can try out the Marketplace section -> Goods -> Computer Hardware.

Thank you for that.

I might have made a fatal mistake though - the power cost per machine.  The hashrate might be 100 to 120 TH/s, which is nice to rent out on Nicehash or MRR or elsewhere, and I do have cheap electricity out at the farm, but I didn't know I needed a PSU for each machine, so thank you for the clarification.  I will have to check to see if I can recover electricity costs a bit more before I go all out.

I think it seems the most profitable machines for me that I can afford would be the Innosilicon A9 ZMaster (definitely), Innosilicon A10 ETHMaster (good, but apparently not quite as good as the ZMaster), or one or two big BTC miners that are more energy efficient rather than a batch of smaller ones.

Thanks so much, I will check out the Marketplace as well.
