Portfolio apps

I asked about whether people are interested in this before and I've been thinking about this app for so long, and I decided to finally take action.

The app should facilitate watching your portfolio and addresses whether It's inside a hardware wallet (auto extracted), exchanges, a wallet file or simply an address. It will be mainly for desktop but available on Android afterward.

Nothing will be sent to servers, of course, it will be open source and everything will be stored locally in your computer.

I wanted to get some thoughts about this, and which features you think could make the app shine among the other portfolio and wallet watching apps? If you don't know any, just listing some portfolio apps that you're using could be useful.

If I take off the above quoted feature then is this similar like blockfolio (blockfolio.com) ? Adding the above feature will be interesting though. I have vouch for it. Good luck.

I think the only thing that the above mentioned services are missing is an API that automatically imports your balances from exchanges, (correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm pretty sure you have to fill it out manually.), but that could potentially open it up to a lot of abuse (?)

The lack of these applications is interaction, I do not know how this interaction is created but in my opinion you should be tracking the balance and making decisions like analyzing news to make decisions.
For example, when there is a lot of discussion about a specific coin or event, the application sends me a message to increase my balance.
When the price drops, get a warning to sell the currency and buy another currency.

One thing missing about portfolio apps is its own community backing it up. Yes you can see the essentials like the portfolio management and wallet address management as well but they seem to have little to none social interaction with other users of the app. Look at tradingview for instance all of their popular crypto page have social pages where its fellow users shows up their technical or price analysis at the same time other users can comment their opinion on what you have done (look at Tradingview's BTC page for example). So maybe having a good way to interact with other people using the app is a nice feature to lookout for.

I definitely would love to see it on developments, especially if its open source, I'd like to contribute if there is a chance.

The things that bother me when I use portfolios apps are the limited cross-platform device and limited availability exchanges API that can be used (except you use the paid plan). It is okay if you want to focus on the desktop first, overtime if the project growing more cross-platform support will come.

One of the features that I'd like to see is a friendly UX design, Delta would be a good example.

- Emphasis on desktop version should be good. Most of these apps are limited to mobile apps.
- Major price drop or price rise push notifications (should be able to send an automatic alert if there is a sudden drop in price in your portfolio by some percentage maybe a 3% sudden drop or rose)
- Increase API support for more exchanges... Bituniverse app currently has support for 15 major exchanges.

There is no automatic way to do it so some people should be recruited to keep an eye on Reddit, and news sites and I'm not sure what would consider as "important" event. Some people, for example, consider "Bakkt" as something important while others think that it's not going to affect the market, so implementing such a feature could lead to centralization. I also don't want to be responsible for people losing their money, If they ever make a decision based on the app notifications but maybe I didn't fully get you, feel free to detail it more.

I will give Delta a look as for good UI/UX than that's one of the main goals. I will be putting my best on that.

Show some options that you have taken as a trader. For example, what is your stop loss, your leverage in Bitmex, your liquidation price etc. I think the most important in a portfolio app is that you can have all the necessary information about your investment anywhere. It is risky, for example, to access your account at an exchange when you are on the street, on a bus.

I'm currently working on an open-source and privacy-based portfolio app, it's a vanilla Javascript SPA that gets all market data from public API's, while the user's portfolio data is stored on client side and never leaves it. If you want, you can pm me so we can discuss joining forces, or I can just share my experience.

Not only portfolio, but maybe it could also create a ranking/rating feature for each person and give them an overall score based on their good/bad investments.

And another feature I'd like would be something similar to Suubee where users could perhaps monetize their trade moves and create signals that people would directly subscribe to.
And PLEASE use tradingview / avatrade charts

technically it is possible to do it without making it centralized or have a server that stores user's data. it can be done perfectly fine in a decentralized way. i don't know what the point of it would be because i never use a "portfolio app" and think it is a bad idea to even have a portfolio in altcoins but i say it is possible.

each app can have a functionality similar to a peer on a p2p network. people can have the option to share their settings with others by giving them their "node" address. it would simply be a socket that listens on an open port and communicates with anybody who "contacts it". you can write a simple messaging protocol (similar to bitcoin's for example) and on request it sends out the portfolio of the user to the asking node. then any update can also be pushed to the connected nodes.

obviously there is little privacy in this design but someone who is willing to share his portfolio is already giving up his privacy!

I would definitely be interested in doing that, thank you! I'm currently making a file in Notion.so with the list of features and prioritizing everything. I will send you something to look at in the near future, once it's done.

I've never used Suubee before but I will take a look and see what exactly you're referring to.

You definitely have a point, I haven't thought about it this way, to be honest but like I said this may come in the future but definitely not in the initial release.

I believe that if the prices of our listed coins in the app could be fetched offline (anyhow), it'd stand this thing out among many other portfolio apps out there. As well, a dedicated news section with buttons to select which way will the coin go (like thumbs up means upside, down means downside, - means neutral) and a button to bookmark/favorite that news is also a great thing any user would expect. I'd also like to see the app showing exchange options, but there should be links as well and some of the crypto should also be allowed to be bought/sold/converted through the portfolio app itself. I know that portfolio is just to show our stats, but this is what I really need that when a news comes up and I feel that hey, I need to buy this immediately, I should be able to do it with the tap of a button inside (I'm not asking you to open an exchange for us  , but all I expect is for you to link the exchanges through API or whatever technical things need to be done inside) and let us trade too over different exchanges through one portfolio app itself.
There should be an import/export Excel sheet section too (or if you prefer Google Sheets) as it's help many taxpayers to get all the data fetched in real-time.
