Never heard this website and their wallet before.
According to whois, the site is registered on 2011-03-01 and the expiration date is 2023-03-01 which I think the site is operating for almost 8 years.

However, I can't trust the site just base on how many years the site live.

I recommend you to don't use their service because it's not a well-known wallet not good if you are planning to use their API to make a wallet.

Always use a well-known wallet like Bitcoin-qt or the Latest version of electrum.

Neither I, doesn't even hear about this wallet since. Sites operation for how many years isn't a guarantee that it is legit same as you say and even just on our common sense alone,
we would really stick to the most common wallets being used as of todays on where most users do prefer(which has been mentioned already).

Just wondering lately, why i do keep reading up some post about unknown sites/services?  Grin

I personally don't use this wallet, but most of the information I can see about this site through Google seems to be at least one or two years ago, and it seems from what I've seen about this wallet their support's pretty slow. There's better and more reputable alternatives out there for web wallets if that's what you're trying to go for, such as Blockchain.com's web wallet and for a lite desktop wallet, Electrum. Can't really speak about their API since I don't code with Bitcoin and there's not a lot out of info there about this wallet as well.

i used to use them back in 2014 when i was still new and i wanted a Doge and LTC wallet to store these two coins there since i didn't know of any light wallets that could do that back then. i remember their services being pretty bad compared to blockchain.info which i was also using and it had some bugs in it too.
if you want to use it for accepting payments (as a wallet through API) i suggest looking into alternative options of doing it directly yourself without giving control of your private keys to them.

How is the experience of using Block.io as Bitcoin wallet? How is their API?
I remember that I used a site similar to this site before the end of 2017 when the fees were high. And then I deposit a small amount, unfortunately, I can not determine the fees "Auto fees," also there are a certain number of addresses that you can get. *IIRC*

Generally, there was a compelling reason to stay away from that wallet, you could search using Google and you will find many negative reviews.

Let's say they operated in a very long time, but I'm pretty sure I never heard of them even when I started in crypto until I saw this post. And if you're trying to use their service's api, I suggest you to use its alternatives and known wallet api. You can't be sure how secured they are compare to other existing and reputed one for entrusting your funds.
If it's being said that the wallet is worst than blockchain.info(com) wallet, then I will not bother to use them.

I'm a bit surprised that most of old time members here haven't heard about Block.io. I haven't used this service, but I know it since my early days in Bitcoin world.
Is it safe to use? Probably it's more or less same like other similar web wallets - it shouldn't be your primarily choice. If you are looking for web wallet Block.io isn't the option. Blockchain.com is much better service. But in general, it would be better to use desktop wallets like Electrum, or perfectly hardware wallets.

Also, this web wallet is not listed on bitcoin.org where you can find most of the wallet for bitcoin.

@socks435, while the wallet is not yet listed, I think it's not a bad idea to try it or look at it by yourself. Of course this is not to say that you must trust anyone blindly, in fact, you can contribute to the community by testing or trying to find for malicious code for the new wallet. Just do it if you can tho, no need to force yourself.

I've used block.io on many occasions over the past couple years, and have never had any problems with them. (Not affiliated in any way, just a happy user.)

The API is ridiculously easy. https://block.io/docs/basic
Bunch of simple GET requests. (Assuming you don't opt for one of their libraries, and stick with the RESTful service.)

For bitcoin, I recall the permitted TX fees as being a bit steep. But the wallet also has Doge, and Litecoin, so you've definitely got options.

I personally haven't hit the limit, but you're only allowed 100 addresses per network, (They let you run testnets! Smiley ). So that could be a problem if you're looking to accept payments with them.
Or. You could also cough up 100 dollars a month for extra features. But I'm not doing that.

As to whether or not they'll end up scamming, that's anyone's guess...
But they've lasted a long time so far, and I've never been given any reason to doubt them.

I got to use at some point the block.io for dogecoin. It's a reasonable, simple wallet, They do not charge any fee or monthly fee. But I do not see many advantages because of the few coins they supports.

As I heard this wallet a year ago I didn't use because they don't have to provide private key to the user, only they provide encrypted seed where you can recover your wallet and your private key was not there. So, I decided not to use this.
This wallet is not commonly used to others because it is not very well known unlike another web wallet the blockchain.com.

As to whether or not they'll end up scamming, that's anyone's guess...
But they've lasted a long time so far, and I've never been given any reason to doubt them.
Lasting for years doesn't give that kind of guarantee that they wont turn out to be a scam but I agree that lasting out long
would really remove that doubts but I'm not still confident on using em up.There are lots of better options as of this moment though and i have test out this wallet wayback in years but i completely switch when i do found much better wallet that supports even more coins.

Do share?

Always on the lookout for easy to use web wallets for alts.
Especially the kinds that have RESTFUL APIs.
