Can I ask why people buy skins in OPSkins?
I google searched this question and couldn't find any logical and normal answer to this!

Why would you spend money to buy "VIRTUAL SHOES" ?!?!

Would you actually spend $400 on buying shoes that you won't even get? This is a non-existing product ... it's virtual ... how come people spend $400 on products like this?

Can anyone explain to an ignorant person like me what's the point of using OPSkins and how come people spend so much money in that site?

No its different, if you do try to look on PUBG's tab you will able to find different thing when it comes to shoes. What I have seen there where most likely virtual items with really have ridiculous
prices and now I do have the same question on my mind same with OP. Asking much money for things which you cant even wear.

I checked their website and saw that there are items categorized as 'apparels'.
Seeing that they sell shoes (which contains specific sizes- 9-9.5, etc.), I believe that those shoes are real items which can be sold, traded and bought at the website.

Most individuals purchase virtual items to feel this sense of uniqueness whenever they play. Although it is purely for aesthetic, to have something which most players do not have feels rewarding.
Just to add some information about virtual items being sold at ridiculous prices, this item was sold for roughly around $80,000 dollars (490,620 cat coins converted) in the game Ragnarok Eternal Love (only 1 in the game!).

I think it's just too much for a price of that item, what is the rarity level of that item and how much quantity did the developer made? Why would the developer had to make such a huge price adjustment for a certain item? That's just too much and what is this item? For the richest people only? I have a lot of question though because I've played online games too but this is just too much.

Why would you spend money to buy "Virtual Coins"?
Why are we spending more than $3750 for buying a virtual coin which you won't even receive them physically? How come everyone one of us spend money on buying "Virtual Money"?

It is the trust driving everyone to buy such things or probably we are shifting more towards the digital age rather than being physical. I don't use OpSkins much, but I do check the trades happening there quite often. We, the digital traders buy OpPoints for fiat money (I have seen somewhere that 100 OpPoints = $1, so if you have invested $100 you would be receiving around 10000 OpPoints and for those points you would be exchanging the skins. These skins can be used in games like Counter Strike and other prominent games using paid skins. They can also work as a tradable asset where you can sell them for higher profits or OpPoints. People even buy few skins from the Steam Market and sell them through OpSkins for Gamers and would make a good profit.

OpSkins has gained popularity in the digital world and gamers and traders are opting for OpSkins rather than depending on the Steam Market because they accept a wide variety of payments ranging from PayPal to Btc but Steam Market is based only on Steam Cash. OpSkins has been proven trustworthy on the market and Gamers are depending a lot on those.

Belive me, I've asked myself this question a million times and still can't find the answer to it. The thing is I see a lot of people, even a few of my friends buying skins on different games instead of buying some new real clothes, shoes or spend those money on having fun. What I'm trying to say is that they don't do it because they are rich, because then I would understand that you have to much money and don't know how to spend it. It's just stupid so people pay for something virtual that doesn't even improve their skills in that game.

These are mainly done by those persons who are more serious about their virtual life than their personal life. Absolutely makes no sense to me! I know a person from my country who had already spent more than 11k usd in a game called Hay Day just to decorate his farm.

I am sure psychiatrists will soon term such spending habits as a mental disease and give an wonderful name to it!

It is like addiction, some people enjoy spending their money to buy virtual products that have no value in real life.
Just like others spending thousands of dollars to buy antiquities.
Well, maybe it makes them feel good when possessing something others can't have even if it was virtual.

Each person do have its own passion whether it turns out to be weird on some people but we cant do anything about it
since its their own money to spent. It really sounds dumb for you to spend thousand or hundreds of dollars on a virtual thing
but let them be since it heir happiness.

I used to use their site for trading CS:GO skins (one of the things that really got me into crypto in the first place), though Valve did force them out of the skin trading game a bit more than a year ago IIRC due to the way they were operating and perhaps partially because of the case system they had going on their site.

These shoes are real, by the way. They are not digital. https://twitter.com/opskinsgo/status/1017154408386265088?lang=en. There's a way to redeem these shoes through the Opskins site, though I have not personally gone through the process of withdrawal. There's also tweets on the Opskins site with people who've recieved the shoes they redeemed on the site. Pretty misleading post IMO.

I personally do own a few pairs of Yeezy and Ultraboost shoes and various pieces of 'hypebeast' apparel, and for the most part the people I know that buy these items mostly buy them to flex on other people (though ironically many of the people that wear expensive clothes that I know aren't in the best financial situations). I used to buy CS:GO skins both for ingame cosmetic use, and I would sell off the skins to sites like Opskins at a slight loss when I got old of 'em. I still have a few hundred dollars in CS:GO skins in my Steam inventory, though it's money I earned from skin betting back when sites like CSGOLounge were still online. Some people have money to spend and value digital cosmetic items, simple demand and supply, though I will say that the shoes for sale on the Opskins site are overpriced compared to another site like Stockx (link here) that also sells hypebeast apparel and shoes, albeit with more volume and better pricing.

No, I am on topic. If you have read the complete post of mine, you should have known what I was talking about.

I was comparing these virtual skins with the virtual money. People buy since they like these and willing to pay what the seller quotes. It is completely based on trust and interest of a person when dealing anything about virtual products. These skins are pretty good when used in the games and gamers could be more addicted towards these products. I have seen that there also occurs real trading with these virtual products. It is about the demand and supply of these goods and the trust they have received from the market. Either way, these kinds of skins for making the game colourful and powerful(if you are buying a pistol) are adapted more commonly by the riches and poors are still finding a way to get past these activities.

Kind of ironic? You are on a forum that revolves around virtual coins that aren't physical.  These items just act as another good in the growing digital marketplace.  I'm not a fan of new video games myself because of all the add ons and dlc content you are forced to purchase.

Actually it makes no sense but since the website is getting traffic and people are buying these skins it means for the website it generates money.

However I am failing to understand the logic behind the people who spend 400 dollars to buy a virtual skin.

Can anyone explain to an ignorant person like me what's the point of using OPSkins and how come people spend so much money in that site?
Simple, to look cool or rich in the eyes of others. Like in playing MMORPGs for example, some gamers are willing to spend few bucks just to buy armor, weapons or fancy accessories in order to make their character stronger and more distinct compare to other gamers' avatar (proving that they are an elite among others) in short, they do this to become famous thus resulting to an increase of their self-esteem.

Actually, I do not prefer doing such act because I can't see the sense as well. They used real money to buy virtual things then they'll jump into a newer and more upgraded game when they ge5 bored already and spend again, and this thing might repeat over and over again. What a pretty big waste of money  Undecided. Well it's not our business so who are we to stop them, I just hope they'll soon realized that they are just wasting too much money for not so important things.

I think they thought that the item will be available and exclusive for them as the buyers. As I can see is that this brand of shoes isn't in the market yet and it is only sold in this auction. There are also times that people buy a virtual item they can use on their online gaming, social media and advertising.
Opskin is a proven and high reputation marketplace since it was founded. Unlike steam, In Opskin you can actually use a lot of payment methods and that is their advantage.

The shoes pictured in the OP were actually released around September of 2018 and are available for $100 less on Stockx (a link here if you are interested in purchasing a pair), a more reputable sneaker trading site that I've used multiple times in the last few years. OPSkins is generally considered to be trusted except for the unfortunate circumstances they faced with Valve banning all their skin bots, but it really just doesn't make sense to buy the shoes for a massive premium when there are many other places to buy the exact same shoes in the same sizes for much less.

These are called vIRLs and because they can be traded instantly they are worth more than physical sneakers on sites like Stockx. The same pair of sneakers are often traded several times a day or even occasionally several times a minute.

From the FAQ:

What can I do with my vIRLs?

Instant-Sell: Get cash back for your vIRLs - instantly. Instant-Sell your vIRLs to OPSkins and have cash in your bank account within minutes. You can also cashout to cryptocurrency like Ethereum, bitcoin, or WAX tokens.

Sell on a marketplace: List your vIRLs for sale on a marketplace like OPSkins without ever taking physical possession of them. No storage, no shipping, no hassle..

Instant-Gift: Gift a vIRL to anyone in the world with just a few clicks, immediately after unboxing it. Visit WAX ExpressTrade to start gifting..

Trade: Swap your vIRLs for any other items that trade on WAX ExpressTrade including everything from video games to V-Bucks, sneakers to skins, gift cards to game items. .

Redeem: Ship your vIRLs to an address. Visit OPSkins.com to complete the redemption process.

I think why people buy these shoes is because they want to look different than the other and no matter how much the price, they want to buy those shoes.
In that site, I see that people can trade their inventory to get something they don't have with other people.
And when someone becomes a fan of any game, he will buy anything related to the game because he wants to collect everything as he can. Besides that, by collecting everything from the game, in one day, when the game becomes rare, his collection becomes worth, and if he sells again, he will make a lot of money.
