Citing reference sources properly

Just a short question. How can I properly cite references in white paper? I would like to add the explanation about PoW and PoS mining (How are they working) to the white paper. Sources : Satoshi's original white paper and blockgeeks.com The reason is avoiding plagiarism accusations.
P.S Shell I ask blockgeeks for permition?

What are you wanting to do, add something to the whitepaper or reference it elsewhere.

If you're adding to it I'd suggest something like:

And then an end to that at some point.
Although it might just bloat out the paper. Also pos is never done in bitcoin so?

Put the part that you are citing into a footnote. Then at the end of the page you should write the source from where you extracted the cited information.

a simple quotation marks or wrapping sentences with block quotes should be fine
and add reference sources to clearly show that you are citing someone's work/idea
or do it like wikipedia style, numbered references (as anchors) after each cited sentence or paragraph
then at the bottom of your post, list all the numbers and show their related sources with links

if you are writing a white paper or any paper for that matter, then forum format of quoting and citing is not for you.

you don't copy-paste a whole text in a paper and then simply reference it, it will look unprofessional.

what you need to do is somehow paraphrase it and then cite it, without having to use the quotation mark.

notice how he used this reference > http://www.weidai.com/bmoney.txt  on the second page , but you can't find the exact text on the  reference, however the idea or the theory is there.

so what you basically need to do is ,use numbering like [1] after a paragraph / sentence which you used , and then at the bottom of the paper add those references.

you could still copy-paste exact text, put it in a double quotation format but you will still have to include the references with the same format as explained above.

Are you asking about a quote in a forum post or an academic document? I think it's on the forum, since you're asking in the Meta section.

While it may seem that the forum is very strict with plagiarism, in fact, it is not. It just needs to be pretty obvious where the source of the text is from. Some people complain when someone copies and past news articles. But I do not think there is a problem in that when they put the source.

If you want to make a long text, just use the footnote [1]

If it is an article with academic pretensions, follow the chicago manual of style.

There are many different ways to properly cite/reference a source in a scientific paper. You can read about them all here: http://libguides.reading.ac.uk/citing-references/referencingstyles

In Satoshi's original whitepaper, he follows a Vancouver referencing style, where citations are simply made by a number in square brackets (or sometimes as superscript), with a list of references as an appendix at the end of the paper, listed in the order in which they appear in the paper. You can find instructions and examples on how to cite in the Vancouver style here, and how to construct your list of references in the Vancouver style here.

For Satoshi's original whitepaper, I would cite it in the Vancouver style as follows:
