Yesterday Bitcointalk had over 10k new registrations. Which is by far the most Bitcointalk ever had. Seems unlikely that the MtGox Insolvency caused this huge wave of sign ups. So what is the reason for this extreme increase of sign ups?
Would be nice to see how many of these accounts are banned because of the ip.

Someone was botting to game some stupid altcoin poll, they and all the IPs were banned earlier today. Was ~12k accounts.

Holy crap. Has Theymos never heard of captchas, or are they just ineffective?

They can be made ineffective via those captive solving sites that offer poor sods like one cent for solving a billion captchas. I'm surprised the bot made so many accounts before being caught.
