Why do we have so many spam threads in P&S?

We have an issue in this area that's without a doubt one of the weirder ones on the forum, and I want to know if everyone agrees that it's spam and should just be moved to a different section. I'm going to list out the threads.

Now pardon me as I made every other letter capital, though I do think that shows the amount of REAL discussion that is going on in these threads. (Hint: There is no real discussion, it's just aCtOr_tOm_tRuOnG writing back and forth to himself over and over and over for about 100 pages a thread) No one is debating with him, he's just simply rambling on and on and on and keeping his shitposting threads alive. I honestly feel like he's just using these threads as his own private blog.

It's spam, and it shouldn't be here. What does everyone else think?

I think that people who keep on pointing out the flaws in politics and government, but don't have an answer about what to do about the flaws, are really subjecting the people to despair.

But that is the point of people who are trying to take over the world. Get as many people as possible to succumb to fear. It makes them cower in a corner. They are much easier to vanquish that way.

That's all these threads are, just random conspiracy theories that have no basis in an attempt to make people scared. Though I don't know how he posts the same garbage day in and day out, if you check the threads it's literally just him for tens of threads pretty much responding to himself.s

Feel free to move it to meta anytime, I may end up moving it myself as it isn't appropriate in P&S.  My interpretation of the no multi-posting rule is that multi-posting within a 24 hr period is not allowed. Multiple posts that could be edited in to a single post or are entirely useless all together which are designed only to "bump" a thread are what that rules targets.  It does not target a thread in which any user would like to update periodically a thread and they should not be restricted to adding legitimate information to a thread just because they were the last person to post in a thread.

With regards to that specific troll, just ignore him, that's what I do he isn't really harming anyone and he is obviously mentally ill.  There is literally no value in engaging him or discussing him or reading his posts or anything what so ever related to him.  I've already wasted time I didn't want to on him but because your a decent bloke I responded to you.

You can call this threads started by Actor_Tom_Truong spam, nonsense or conspiracy theories, but he don't break rules of forum, so there are no valid reasons to delete this thread or ban. Your freedom of speech doesn't extend, and it never will, further than by protections from 'state action' (which is just governmental action). If Theymos wanted to limit all of us to only saying good things about Bitcoin, he could. This is a private forum with rules in place, and with my current interpretation of the rules -- this person in P&S is breaking the rules and causing spam.

I'm not asking for the person to be banned, nor for the threads to be deleted - I feel like that would go against Theymos' own moral code. Though I do think they should be moved out of the section, as they show no benefit / discussion within the board itself.

I mean, if you define updating a thread as tossing random youtube videos into it every so often which have no connection to the starting thread, then yes all he's doing is updating. But he's not, he's simply using it as his personal spew shitting area which has no conversation from outside sources. He may be the last person posting in that thread, but he's also the ONLY PERSON.

It's pretty much the unwritten name of the board IMO.  I'd be interested in any thread in the board that is over a few pages long that doesn't have some reference to some wacky horse shit that is made up!  The aggressive posters are so vocal that I'm sure they drive away less confrontation oriented users, I know I post a little less these days with the current group of aggressive users who lack the ability to listen to the other side!

We're not that at all, we're a board with great discussions and a wonderful group of members.

There is definitely a broad range of users on the board and some of them are wonderful but lets be honest there are some pretty special folks around and they seem to gravitate to our board!

Politics is a very polarizing topic so also is society related discussions. And everyone like to have an opinion and put in their own quota. We are bound to have meaningless discussions and rhetorics going back and forth.
There is a bit of spam in every board. I don't think the politics and society board is in a bad shape right now.

But then again, the user in question does not violate any forum rules that are stated within this board, and so the user's freedom to post shitty threads shouldn't be violated in any way. If you don't like the way the user is spamming the P&S board with his delusional conspiracy theories, feel free to ignore the user. It's not as if the P&S board was a source for reliable and worthy news even before Actor_Tom_Truong started his posting spree. Let the man enjoy as long as he's not breaking any forum rules.

This is fair then, maybe I was under a false assumption that these threads were a little too out of line and deviated too far from the regular stuff posted in the board. I'll without a doubt just ignore the user and live life.

One thing i'm sure that will happen is that the thread will be locked as there is no discussion made between two or more person i. That thread. He doesn't even reply back to other people replying on his thread, he is just providing news links and the description of what he provided, and most of the news links he provided are not even related to the topic itself, he just made the P&S section as his own Press release section.  If he only somehow provided a little description on how he connected these news up and has replied to some of the members interested in what he is saying the threads he created wouldn't be considered as spam.

The trouble with freedom of speech is that someone will inevitably say something you don't like, and in this case something batshit crazy.  But, in this case none of the threads are self moderated or locked, you are welcome to counter his rhetoric.  That's the thing about trolls though, countering their banter only feeds them the attention they seek.  Ignoring them is the best course of action. 

You've pointed out the most telling fact about his threads; him rattling on to himself, with very few interactions from the community.  That's a testament to how little influence his rhetoric has.  Nobody cares.  Most people are already ignoring him.
