There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Do you know how he managed to do that? (I assume it wasn’t through a BTC donation). I figure it’s an exceptional petition that was granted. I believe a saw a similar case of change of name at some point over the last couple of months, but I did not give it much though. Just moderately surprised to see it happen. |

I can see at least 9 (*) more cases over the last year, but Id say it’s better not to publish them, lest they want it to remain a private matter (although I’m pretty sure they get noticed by those that interact with them).
(*) 1 Global Moderator, 1 Legendary (slight adjustment 0->O), 3 Heroes, 1 Member (slight adjustment -> deleted a space), 2 Sr. Members, 1 VIP.
Probably not many in the overall, but at least we know that some petitions are being attended to without the donation requirement.

I don't think you can help: if a username doesn't exist in my list of usernames, I have to search for members. That's not much of a problem, other than that my Trust list viewer update isn't done yet when I wake up, and needs manual intervention. I've bumped Request @theymos: Can you show userIDs instead of user names in trust.txt.xz?, hoping for a fix from theymos  |

Sorry, I did not remember that list made by your data scraping, not from theymos' data dump.
As I remember, your list of usernames update daily but not sure you only update it with usernames of new users or not?
From your reply, it seems you only update usernames for new registered users, don't you?
I know that using forum search function with formerly usernames do give results with new usernames (when I did my thread for donators and VIP members).

From your reply, it seems you only update usernames for new registered users, don't you? Correct. There's no point in continuously scraping 2.7 million usernames to find at most a few name changes per month. |

One of the main reasons I changed usernames is to somewhat prevent confusion with my previous username, as m jglqw could easily be used on this site and other sites with m iglqw, you get the point. Just to be really extra sure to prevent issues. That's just one of the reasons though. With that said, if you're decently reputable here on Bitcointalk(or just not a fairly new account that just spams) and if you really have a valid reason/excuse of getting your username changed, there's a good chance that Theymos might consider. That's what I think at least. Or maybe Theymos was just in the mood. Idunno. 🤷 |

Thank you. I know the issues of BPIP site recent months. Details for the club have some parts: - Merits: It used the weekly merit data dumps from theymos, then retrieved as total sent & earned merits by LoyceV. I depended on data dumps from LoyceV for months. Fortunately, recent weeks, I managed to get it myself, directly from theymos's raw data dump. Merit stats are not real-time one, so that is why you see the incorrect stats for each users here because they are stats for the last Friday.
- BPIP: It is only link to BPIP profile page for each user.
- Trust: Depends on LoyceV trust list reviews. It seems LoyceV still depends on BPIP.
There is another reason: display names changed for some users, that cause inconvenience for data update for the first week when that user change his/her display name. |

Just a note that most of the values are quite off because of the BPIP problems. Can you show which data is incorrect? It should't be: Merit is based on last Friday's data dump (this update was a few days late though), and Trust should be accurate on DT2. I don't use BPIP, I scrape the Trust scores directly from the forum. This should be accurate, if not, please let me know. Only my own profile has an inaccuracy: Full disclosure: I found an inaccuracy in my own profile: ~snip~ I have only one neutral feedback rating from a DT-member, but since I left myself neutral feedback from " LoyceBot" (which I use for scraping), loyce.club shows 2 of them. |
