Hello, my internet connection its behind a HTTP proxy all the time, I use a VPN to game and other stuff, It allow me to use Tor too. the proxy is more a symbolic thing then anything else but Im worried when the case is deal with crypto, so far coinbase and blockchain.info don't allow me to even signing with the normal connection (I must use the VPN) and I think its because they detect the proxy. I don't wanna take any risk so Im using all the time the VPN in crypto related stuff. But what do you suggest me? I should use a VPN (or Tor) to manege my crypto or is safe to use the raw (proxified) connection??

Also I have a very slow internet connection speed (256kbits/s) I was thinking in using a desktop wallet (obviously no Bitcoin Core because the full blockchain download) so in you experience they use a lot of bandwidth or which one (if any) do you suggest me??

Too slow to browse online with your internet speed and I think using VPN with crypto is fine but don't use VPN when trading because it may lead to ban evasion.
I don't recommend coinbase and blockchain as your wallet. If you need a desktop wallet without downloading the whole blocks you can use a light version like Electrum wallet.

You don't need to use any VPN to make this wallet work and your internet speed is fine with this wallet. Just make sure that you save the backup seed or private keys. So that you can recover it in the future.

I'm not an expert with internet connections but if you really do have problems with it or you really want to use something that require more internet connection speed then you'll have to upgrade your internet and it will cost you more than the money you pay for the internet you have (best choice but it will cost you more money to pay or you stick to previous advice and suggestions, seems fine though.)

You don't need VPN at all when you are sending or receiving cryptpcurrencies, the txids don't record your location every time you do a transaction so it is useless to turn on your VPN while transacting. Also you might be encountering that problem as usually VPN servers also mess up with your connection to the web especially if you have slow internet that is why maybe you are encountering this problems woth your wallet. If you still insist on usinv a VPN service then I think its the best time to upgrade your internet so that could continue what you are doing.

Thanks for all your advise guys but I think I don't explain correctly the question, I'm concern with the integrity of my wallet password or some kind of middle man attack or that kind of stuff  by the company who manege the proxy (although is manege by the only communication company in the country).
In concern with the internet speed its impossible upgrade it for my, it cost 30USD 30hours at 1mb/s, I think its the world most expensive Internet actually but that is not the point. I already downloaded and installed the Electrum wallet and its a charm with my speed connection (I need to use the VPN because only accepts SOCKS 4 and 5 proxy and mine is HTTP)

Any SPV wallet like Multibit or Electrum etc. You can check wallets on bitcoin.org there are descriptions which is synch in full and which one is quick (SPV).
Choose wisely because its your privacy and security associated with this choices. Ease of use is another factor tho.

The VPN will only make things a lot slower with that kind of bandwidth. I have similar problems and I find some applications are not written with people with slow bandwidth in mind. <Or those people who have to access services via Proxies and VPNs.>

I would experiment with different services and wallets and even some hardware wallets to bypass proxy restrictions. I find that some services are also easier to configure to bypass some of these "blocks".  Tongue

when you download from a website that doesn't have SSL encryption then what you explained is possible. but not when they have that encryption (meaning a link starting with https such as https://electrum.org/#download

additionally it should not matter as long as you are verifying the signature of the files you download. for example in case of Electrum you must verify whether the downloaded binaries were signed with the developer's key (0x6694D8DE7BE8EE5631BED9502BD5824B7F9470E6) using PGP. there is no way to fake that.

Any SPV wallet like Multibit or Electrum etc. You can check wallets on bitcoin.org...

It would be better if you first visit site you're suggesting, then you would see that Multibit is abandoned project for long time, which is a well-known fact on this forum.

azkielt, I know you using faucets, so proxy/VPN may be a problem in that case, most faucet owners do not allow (ban users) who use such connection in order to prevent abuse.

Interesting, for now I have no problems with coinpot and I use the raw (proxified) connection with them and even I have received payments from them, and I using the others faucet that you suggest with the normal connection to (no problem either for now).
Thanks to everybody who answer to this post, now I'm using Electrum for Bitcoin (althougt I haven't tested with a transaction yet but I'm sure will work well seeing the positive feedback from this community) and Electrum-Ltc for litecoin with 2 succeed transactions and it works smooth

I'm not sure why you are worried about speed if you want to run a core node. I run a node over various public WiFi services, and I don't have any problems over speed, and some are really made with intermittent connection failures. The big problem could be storage of the blockchain, but an external hdd is fairly cheap these days. Your major problem will be getting hold of a copy of the blockchain to get started. To do this, you will need to find someone who will let you download the chain over a fast connection, or copy a recent chain from a trusted source. It really does have to be a trusted source though, as there have been some cases of people supplying dodgy copies in the past.

Hey, that is interesting! I didn't know that I can download the whole chain from another computer and just update it on my own, thanks for the info, but its not practical here because the average internet speed (1mbit/s) and the high prices. Also I doubt someone here has the blockchain, although I will love support the bitcoin network with my own node is impossible to me, the way I want to do it is to contribute to this community by learning anything I can and sharing it.
