Hello, A few months ago I wanted to sell 24 Litecoin on cryptopia during a phase of heavy server load and everything was very buggy. I sold my Litecoin and got my bitcoin credit. A few seconds later I noticed, that my balance did still show as 24 Litecoin plus the bitcoin balance I just got. So I sold the 24 Litecoin again . My Litecoin balance now shows a negative balance of 24 Litecoin (which kinda makes sense). I withdrawed all funds from cryptopia, and now Im not quite sure about what I should do. Should I: 1. Deposit the 24 Litecoin back to cryptopia to make my balance 0 or 2. Keep all the Money and be happy that I got some nice Litcoin for free Thanks and best regards PS: dont worry about my new account, I only registered to ask this question as I am really not sure about what to do.

According to OP how or when did you access your cryptopia account? They temporarily closed the site for further investigation so no one could access the site. Yes, I guess this is my best option I am asking because cryptopia will resume service tomorrow That's good news and I found their twitter announcement that they will re-open the site as read-only as they recover 24% of all wallets.https://twitter.com/Cryptopia_NZ/status/1100964778116210690Even though I don't still recommend to trade again in this exchange I feel that this is an inside job and now they are planning to be alive again.

Only keep what is yours and return the extra back to the exchange when they eventually get back to full operation mode. That is the honest and right thing to do.Trust me,you will feel better about it when you do so,be the "white hat" trader here.

Are you feeling a bit guilty by any chance because you took advantage of cryptopia's buggy site at that moment?
Cryptopia will be accessible as read only so you can't do anything still. When they open their exchange fully again, it's for you to decide whether to give it back or keep it. I prefer that you give it back, but we are all different, it's still up to you. Tbh, if I was in the same situation back then, I would have thought of reporting the bug to Cryptopia first before anything else.

It's up on you and what your conscience is telling you right now? there will be people who would say don't care at that bug and just keep all of the amount. But mostly will say that you should start sending it back to them and tell the whole story so they can even solve bugs related to it once they are back and fully operational.
Keep us updated OP if you ever reached cryptopia.

I don't see any wrong with that, I mean that isn't his fault that it's buggy and intentionally doubled his ltc, right? Though of course it's not his but he didn't stole it. So I guess he shouldn't be guilty and just keep the money and just use it to trade. Just treat it as airdrop.

I think you should contact with cryptopia and give those 24 LTC back to them. It's an unethical practice. You should contact them when the bug happened. Now that cryptopia is back and let them know what happened with you and give back. I think they will give you a reward for finding the bug.

That's not a big deal. I think they can afford to refund. Moreover, not all the coin was stolen. Only ERC20 token was stolen as far as I know.

Maybe this can help to make a decision. We're always here for our investors. @Cryptopia_NZ hackers tried to sell tokens on DEX and MyWish team has bought about 450,000 WISHs to distribute it back to the real owners. Every user will get 22% of his/her lost WISH tokens back. #MyWish #cryptobia #WISH https://twitter.com/mywishplatform/status/1102592605932699648

Contact Cryptopia support and offer them to bring them back. Think about how it would be in vice versa. Surely you would have hoped someone would return your funds sent by mistake. Turning it back would really be the best thing to be done and being honest do really give out a good feeling since those funds arent yours but well same as said above people are different so the decision would still depend on OP but i doubt those are just visual bugs and it would be updated once the site is operational once again.

Because I didn't read anything about how much they were lot or any refund if they lost fund. Base on the articles, every user can view those balances before the hack happens. And this will be their basis for the reimbursement of those people who have been affected by this hack. This is about the transparency that they are showing to their users and on what are the progresses that happens while they are resuming through read-only. Though the damaged has been made, on those articles that I've read, they are working on it for those said affected users.

The total loss is 10% and I think it will be good for cryptopia to refund the users since it is not too much big deal. Every exchange should have a fund to back up this kind of unpredictable loss and I think cryptopia also does have a fund for this. Anyway, a refund can make cryptopia more bigger exchange.
