Website: bitcoinv.org

BitcoinV (BTCV) is a restart of Bitcoin using Variable Block Rewards.

The official core team members are (in no particular order) - NullFunctor, ReelCoders, GeneralConsultant

Specifications

PoW algorithm: SHA256d
Max supply: 21 Billion
Block reward: Variable Block Rewards, Merkle Root/Block Hash bit matching
Block time: 10 minutes
Difficulty: Retargets every 2 weeks (2016 blocks)

MINER'S GOAL
Grab as many block rewards as possible at 6 blocks per hour by varying the block reward multiplier.
BitcoinV is a new kind of crypto currency, many people are not well informed of how to use its feature.
If a steady state 6 blocks per hour have not been achieved on the BitcoinV network after one day of mining, decrease the multiplier level a few notches.

BitcoinV would like to thank bitcointalk.org for allowing the announcement on their site. The mining hash rate has picked up by a factor of 10 since we posted a few hours ago, thanks again. More solo miners correspond to a more secure network.

Help strengthen BitcoinV by solo mining using the following directions:

https://github.com/bitcoinVBR/bfgminer/releases

Also, we would like to thank "olkah" in the above post for scanning the Windows wallet and confirming that there are zero viruses. This project is a restart of Bitcoin with Variable Block Rewards. Keeping the codebase in sync with Bitcoin for every release going forward keeps BitcoinV as strong as the original Bitcoin codebase.

Which wallet are you having trouble with, Linux, Windows, OSX, Android?

Yes, there are seed nodes. The code is open source and they can be found here:

https://github.com/bitcoinVBR/bitcoinV/blob/master/src/chainparams.cpp

In particular:

        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed1.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed2.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed3.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed4.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed5.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed6.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed7.bitcoinv.org");
        vSeeds.emplace_back("seed8.bitcoinv.org");

You should not need to seed nodes manually as this is performed automatically in the runtime, but you are free to seed what you want.

For those interested in Variable Block Rewards, use the following script to mine for extra rewards. Make sure that the bitcoinv daemon or that bitcoin-qt is running with the following:

------------------bitcoin.conf--------------------------------
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9332
server=1
listen=1
daemon=1
--------------------------------------------------------------

and run the following script:

-------------------------------bash script to get 16 x 50 = 800 BTCV per block---------------------------------------------------------
REWARD_MULTIPLIER=16
PUBLIC_KEY=35JXcr5N85XCneeR3sscqu18d8gQNT25gq

pkill bfgminer

sleep 5

/home/software/bitcoinV/src/bitcoin-cli generatetoaddress 1 $PUBLIC_KEY 100 $REWARD_MULTIPLIER
/home/software/bfgminer/bfgminer -o http://localhost:9332 -u user -p pass --generate-to $PUBLIC_KEY --stratum-port=3333

For starting out with Variable Rewards, start the BAR low with 100 BTCV per block, Once you mine 100BTCV, try and increase the rewards. Obviously, the higher the reward you try to mine, the harder and longer it will take to mine it.

-------------------------------bash script to get 2 x 50 = 100 BTCV per block---------------------------------------------------------
REWARD_MULTIPLIER=2
PUBLIC_KEY=35JXcr5N85XCneeR3sscqu18d8gQNT25gq

pkill bfgminer

sleep 5

/home/software/bitcoinV/src/bitcoin-cli generatetoaddress 1 $PUBLIC_KEY 100 $REWARD_MULTIPLIER
/home/software/bfgminer/bfgminer -o http://localhost:9332 -u user -p pass --generate-to $PUBLIC_KEY --stratum-port=3333

Mining pools create a centralized network. To keep the miners decentralized, mine solo using the following directions:

https://github.com/bitcoinVBR/bfgminer/releases/download/v5.4.2_x86_64/HowToMineBitcoinV.pdf

https://github.com/bitcoinVBR/bfgminer/releases

I followed the "HowToMineBitcoinV" guide for mining on W10 x64 machine but i get the following:

 [2019-03-05 10:59:32] Started bfgminer 5.4.2
 [2019-03-05 10:59:32] Probing for an alive pool
 [2019-03-05 10:59:37] Pool 0 slow/down or URL or credentials invalid
 [2019-03-05 10:59:37] No servers were found that could be used to get work from.
 [2019-03-05 10:59:37] Please check the details from the list below of the servers you have input
 [2019-03-05 10:59:37] Most likely you have input the wrong URL, forgotten to add a port, or have not ses
 [2019-03-05 10:59:37] Pool: 0  URL: http://localhost:8332  User: user  Password: pass
 [2019-03-05 10:59:37] Press any key to exit, or BFGMiner will try again in 15s.

All good now, the pdf has an error. It should be port 9332 not 8332

Yes, that is an error. It should be port 9332 not 8332.

We will fix the document.

Thanks again!

How to change Variable Block Rewards:

Take a look at:
http://explorer.bitcoinv.org/block-height/802

Transaction
a7ee8d2d25c748150e988c6cb257ab0bf40670543eb1839e0205a1cb006e1e11

coinbaseNewly minted coins                     100 BTCV -> Standard Reward x 2                                                                      3A1RA5D36f8GLFjCm4smM5szVu8pxwYrjp                               100 BTCV
                                                                  50 BTCV   -> Standard                                                                                                                                                                                          100 BTCV

The block explorer shows that a Variable Block Reward of x 2 happened. This was due to how the miner was set up.
For any miner (Windows/Linux/Max), the following script would be used to multiple the block reward by 2.

--------------------------------------------------

REWARD_MULTIPLIER=2
PUBLIC_KEY=3A1RA5D36f8GLFjCm4smM5szVu8pxwYrjp

pkill bfgminer

sleep 5
/home/software/bitcoinV/src/bitcoin-cli generatetoaddress 1 $PUBLIC_KEY 1 $REWARD_MULTIPLIER
sleep 2
/home/software/bitcoinV/src/bitcoin-cli generatetoaddress 1 $PUBLIC_KEY 1 $REWARD_MULTIPLIER
/home/software/bfgminer/bfgminer -o http://localhost:9332 -u user -p pass --generate-to $PUBLIC_KEY --stratum-port=3333

--------------------------------------------------

Note that 'generatetoaddress' is repeated twice, leave that there for now. Just copy the above script and modify your paths and key for payout. This script was just used to generate the reward of 100 BTCV in block 802.
You can set the multiply to what every you want, power of 2 should be used (1,2,4,8,16,....). Keep in mind that as the block difficulty increases, it becomes harder to mine. As the multiplication factor increases, so does the VBR mining difficulty. Mining to win the JACKPOT is very difficult, but payout is 1 Million times 50BTCV, this is why the Coin supply is set to 21 Billion BTCV; this allows many Jackpots to be mined.

Regarding Windows10, you can do the following:

Open up the debug windows
   "Help"->"Debug Window"

Go to the Console tab.

at the bottom enter the following:

generatetoaddress 1 39t6K7h1U4jxSAcoMhqqAQfa3Z2MvLKEMx 4

generatetoaddress 1 YOUR_ADDRESS_HERE      MULTIPLIER_HERE

Enter it a few times to make sure it takes. Now you can use the pdf directions for mining.
