“Cryptos” - A new tv show about cryptocurrency

There’s a new tv show in development called “Cryptos”, it will star actor Kevin Connolly.  When the actor was asked to comment on the show’s plot, he said: “The thing that scares people about crypto is a lack of understanding, People like myself are still learning, but the curiosity is there.”



I personally think this type of show, if done well, can raise a lot of awareness about bitcoin and move the market forward, so i'm excited! What do you guys think?

Don't get me wrong, but I expect bullshit.
It is like movies about trading. There are 2 kinds of movies:
1. Where some genius trader forsaw a market crash and shorted everything.
2. Someone found some insights about some companies and tried to get some easy money.
Both cases have almost nothing in common with trading.

I bet that something similar gonna happen again. They will show how some guys are getting free money in the bull market for early investing and how they are using this wonderful opportunity to make their movie, become financially independent and many other good things that many heard about.

We will see what will be the outcome of that tv show for the crypto society, but either way let's support it for now as media is a powerful tool to let people know and understand crypto currencies well.

Such television programs will have an effect if they are well exploited and prepared by people who understand Bitcoin and Blockchain.
The quote that "People like myself are still learning" can judge the results of such programs.
It will make changes if a cryptocurrency investor sets up a series about Cryptocurrency with a lot of real information and no intimidation of banks.

I remember before there were some movies and media people who talked about cryptos but the result was one: a lot of misinformation.

I hope this will be useful for the investors as the update will be in progress, also we can get some useful information from TV shows as media has been a powerful weapon in this generation. So I think it's a good thing happening for crypto sphere.

It's too early to say something similar to your statement and for the same reason, I am willing to contradict. If it is like an awareness show, I expect lot more other than just a trading forecast or raising money for companies. Let's wait and see how it turns out instead of jumping into a conclusion immediately! It may be something drastically different than conventional TV shows like bitcoin itself!

That kind of news is totally rumor. Bitcoin or other crypto currencies are not registered by government in entire world. there's is few countries allow bitcoin. So it could be say that its quite difficult initiative. But its possible that it could be mentioned in stock market news and it does happened. Infact few countries allow bitcoin and they didn't make a particular crypto channel or any tv show related to crypto market. Don't waste your time to read these trash stuff.

I am with you on this but that little part I bold in your comment is the key and it may sound easy but it rarely is done right! many of them only focus on what is "hot" because it is a TV show after all and you can't focus on boring stuff like the technology. everyone wants to see the pump and dumps and the exciting roller-coaster that is the market.
and the worst part of it is that they also sometimes focus ONLY on the negative parts and put them under magnifying glass. all of which is going to be more damaging than anything else.

How many episodes is it going to last? I mean, covering the stuff that consumers should know shouldn't take too long. If they end up with a hefty episode count, they might turn into some shill show.

Don't get me wrong, awareness is welcome for sure, but if the show gives off the impression that it's selling out, then they might actually have the opposite effect. I hope it's done tastefully.

Once the show can get the attention of crypto users, the show can probably just make speculations of what the market will do in the next few days, they can give some trade signals but eventually make use of it to profit. Its just my opinion but it might just what will happen.

Well at least it is another publicity for Bitcoin and crypto,
Let's just hope that these wouldn't be a shitty movie that show people  that investing in crypto is a waste of time and money.

"crypto" does not mean "cryptocurrency". in fact crypto refers to cryptography which is only something that cryptocurrencies are using. calling it "cryptos" is a bad idea because if the show becomes popular it would be actually changing the meaning of the name and mislead people.

....and since they have already gotten the name wrong i wouldn't get my hopes up for them getting much else right!

Very nice show and lots of TV shows like this will go a long way to help created awareness about cryptocurrency and also help to educate and enlighten people about cryptocurrency and how it work, because it in not having the knowledge about cryptocurrency that breed the misinformation people have about cryptocurrency but onces the awareness and enlightenment is there people will fine it easy to trust and adopte cryptocurrency.

They are just looking for the new thing because Hollywood is out of ideas and constantly pumping out remakes of original movies.  I didn't like Kevin Connelly and the show entourage, there is something very unlikeable about his smug arrogance.  The same goes for Mark Wahlberg.

I bet you didn't even bother to open the given link. The storyline says the overall plot of the show which seems decent to me.
I can't predict if the show will go good or bad but reading the storyline tells me that the show can go pretty well or will at least receive good support from the crypto community if cryptocurrencies are portrayed in a positive way in the show. Anyway, since it is still in the development stage I just hope that the show comes live some day and should not screw up somewhere just to end up not being telecasted on TV.

A TV show will definitely help a lot of people since people would learn a lot easier and faster about cryptocurrencies ,meaning the market will also benefit from this. As you said, the show has to be well done so that everyone will watch it as a normal show but in the same time learn about crypto.

It's sad that there is no data on the series on imdb (when something serious is going on, there's usually at least something), and even though Connolly is not nobody, popular websites did not bother to write any articles about his new show and websites like imdb and wikipedia don't have info on connection between Connolly and "Cryptos". The show seems to be in really early stages, and the background idea seems to be about crypto crowdfunding rather than disrupting financial industry, but the team contains crypto believers. If they make it 'Silicon Valley' style, it might be a good show and make a significant difference.
