What solution should I use for micro payment transaction ?

Hello,

I wish to accept bitcoin on my website, however, the average transaction size will be in the size of $1-$2.
I'm not sure common merchant like bitpays accept such a small amount, and if they do, they'll probably eat me alive with their fees.

So far I'm tending toward implementing the two following solutions :
- lightning network;
- normal bitcoin transaction for those who doesn't use lightning network. homemade system where i'll batch all transactions to withdraw the small amounts from all those adress and thus reduce fees.

I do not wish to accept bitcoin cash or any other cryptocurrency.

Is there any merchant (like bitpay) who could do that with tiny fees so I don't have to reinvent the wheel and code it all myself ?

I think for you it will be good if you implement lighting network or there is another solution too and something that you are looking for:
Faucethub.io <-- this website was used by a lot of faucet owners, it supports micropayments and once you reach certain limits, then you are able to withdraw (that's how I remember but please check yourself).
Or another solution is if all of your users will use for example XAPO, when you send btc from xapo to xapo, fee is zero.

Why not try to use Coinbase payment gateway to accept bitcoin as payment and I am sure they don't need to pay too much fee to send bitcoin if they also use Coinbase as wallet.
So you must push them to use Coinbase for fast transaction without fee.

I also vote for BTCPay (own your coins, have full control over your commerce nodes, don't get blocked/kicked out, accept payments through the lightning network, and more important: doesn't support a predatory company that hates BTC).

both of these are bad ideas because in both cases you have absolutely no control over your funds while you will be paying fees to them for processing your stuff.
additionally there is another risk associated with your first suggestion because services like that which are associated with faucets tend to stop being profitable for their owners and run away at some point.

I will also avoid Coinbase. The recent action of coinbase is very worrying. Beside, if OP wants to go through with Coinbase then he may need to compromise his privacy.

Have you tried looking for payment processors that offer a range of cryptocurrencies? I think DOGE, ETH and XRP would be the most popular options for users, as well as regular fiat payments.

You could set up a custom deposit address per user, and then ask them to send X amount to that address. I've seen it on sites before that give you credit on the site for ETH, but I guess that's not something you'd be bothered to do?

BTCPay Server is a open-source cryptocurrency payment processor, so if you have the knowledge or if you can hire someone with programming skills, you can scrutinize their code to see if they are legit. I think being open-source already shows that they are transparent and open for Peer review. 

The payment processor approach might just be the better solution, because they do most of the dirty work for you.

There's one simple thing I understood here that I want you to understand as well that if you're looking for such services, you won't get anything to integrate unless you agree to pay them the fees and the permission to hold your coins till a certain amount (or threshold) to save you the fees you don't want to opt for.

I mean, everyone has at least a dollar in their card/paypal right? Focusing on fiat currency payments would be beneficial since there isn't anywhere near a 20% fee for 1-2 dollar transactions from my experience. Think Fiat and smaller valued cryptos are better for this.

@Xavier59 It's best if you can implement multiple payment methods to cover most of the market, though.

For "Seasoned" Bitcoin users (like the site above):
Regular Bitcoin payment for "slow" Large orders and transactions.
Lightning Network implemented wallets for micro-payment (BTCPayServer) But you must review for Bugs and Technical issues.

For the mainstream and most Bitcoin users:
Coinbase, most BCT users may hate the service but the mainstream think of the opposite (but vulnerable to decision manipulation).

Now selling your service by using only lightning network will significantly reduce your customer base who want to pay in crypto.

You're asking about Eclair wallet? I wouldn't guarantee it on safety and security, nor any wallet for that matter, but you could do a lot worse than Eclair. It's built for lightning network, and it's open source... so that means anyone can look at the code and verify. This isn't a guarantee that it's safe, but it ensures that they can't hide any malicious code, and ensured that people can find bugs and help make it better.

However safe a wallet is, however, you still have to practise good security. Losing your private key to a hacker through carelessness gives him equal access to any wallet you have.
