I just watched the trailer, it looks like every other action movie trailer, I can't really see the big fuss some people are trying to make out of this movie, most people who don't hold crypto think, its used for some kind of criminal activity, the movie company are here to make money, so they are making a movie they think people will watch.
I'm looking forward to watching this crypto movie.

I also watched the trailer and it looks like they wanted to educate their audience with false knowledge about Crypto Currency and in the trailer, it showcases that Crypto Currencies are used for illegal activities such as money laundering etc. Some movie makers will do anything for the sake of money making even if they spread false information about certain kind of things.

You don't blame those producers when then create movies like this, the activities going on in the dark web have made many to regard cryptocurrency as 'evil'.
Bit the main thing is that if you truly know about Bitcoin and have been with it through out the years,  you won't be influenced by any sort of movies.

I think we should start with the fact that the movie is produced by Yale Productions, based in New York, and Hollywood is on the other side of the country .

The author of the article does exactly what he is accusing others of doing when associating crypto with darkwebs, he is associating every American movie with Hollywood.

even with a few notable big name actors its already being held back to just a few selected theatres on its release date.. so it looks like those that got advance viewing to designate if its worthy of big box office promotion think it doesnt deserve it

That's an interesting thought. I also noticed that this year there were a lot of 'based on a true story' movies that got nominated for Oscar. Realistic movies are valued but the problem is that they substitute the real history by history-like narratives. The plot of the movie is very discouraging, because it uses the most basic and completely inaccurate nowadays stereotype that cryptos are only used by criminals. I watched the trailer. It's sad that lots of people will probably hear about cryptos for the first time from it. So pro-bank and anti-crypto, so dumb and unfair. I hope the movie will be very low-rated and largely ignored...

making bitcoin film will be very difficult because until today one does not know the true identity of the creator of bitcoin so he could tell how he created bitcoin and what motivated him to create bitcoin. But a good director with financial and materials  means could create a good movie about altcoins and cases of scam ICOs and cases of ICOs that were a great success for investors. It is important to show the good side and the bad side of the crypto world.

This movie is not Hollywood. Its a small indie movie. I bet Kurt Russell is in the movie for about 5 minutes. They grab big stars and they do like 1 days work on a movie. Check the production company. They are pure B Movie territory.

This is a pretty interesting fact if it is truth.

Because there is a pretty big difference between the big movie studios and the small independent ones, of course. But it's also truth that they will make a movie that they think will sell.

So i personally like waiting for the big success before doing a movie about the story of something/someone, the difference is pretty big in fact, also a movie like that can become a classic - One of the good ones.

Yep, it's a typical plot, they just made that money laundering around crypto and now 'hero' is trying to solve it.

Movies are watched by masses and I don't think this trailer anything showed anything positive about it, so certainly it would bring negative impression.

After watching the movie you quickly find out that this is not that kind of movie that you see to learn something new. I mean it is no a documentary or something like that about crypto as many of you thought. It is just a regular action movie but the main story I related on some person's investing and using crypto for some kind of illegal activities and from there the action starts. I will be interesting to see how much they are going to get cryptocurrencies involved into this movie.

you have to keep in mind that these films are not documentaries, they are work of fiction so imaginary stuff is expected in them. besides this is not the first time and it won't be the last either. remember Dope (2015)? it was literary kids selling drugs on the internet and receiving bitcoin!

What do you expect this is a "Hollywood movie" so everything portray is far from the truth. Even historical movies most of the times are construed, to give that cinematic effect. So I'm not surprised with those" misguidedness" in the movies specially regarding the dark side of using bitcoin.

It's another action movie, and it's not a movie about bitcoin or cryptocurrency. The movie was talking about the criminal, but they use bitcoin and show the word "bitcoin." I wonder what will people thinking about the movie because I don't want to see people will say that "Ah, bitcoin is only for the illegal thing and it's not good to used for us."
But maybe I am wrong, and I will try to watch the movie later. I hope that the movie is good enough as another action movie.

We all know that the look of Hollywood films is the same as the government look and many movies that promote the view of the US government.
I saw the trailer of the film, and it seems that much of the talk is cinematic and a lot of misinformation.
In general, once the cryptocurrency is adopted by governments, that outlook will change.

to be fair we can not deny the fact that a lot of illegal activities have been happening specially ever since altcoin market started growing bigger and a lot of shady stuff have been going on in  exchanges. we all already know that. for example 2017 was a great example of how much scams can easily happen in altcoin market as billions of dollars changed hand in the name of ICO and a big percentage of them were laundering money while disguising it as raising funds for a crypto project!!!

After watched the trailer, i'm sure it's Crime Action movie where the bad guy use crypto, not Cryptocurrency movie.
As usual, hollywood always fail when it's about story/plot.

Also, there are few ridiculous things such as :
1. Using online wallet/exchange to store cryptocurrency. Even though the movie would be fun to watch if the mafia lost access to his coins after the owner is deceased
2. Using Bitcoin for laundering money where government can track Bitcoin transaction easily these days.

Many people are of the point of view that this crypto movie can help promote the crpto currencies but i do not think so. If crypto is present in a negative ways like criminals using it and bitcoin being used for money laundering it will not leave any good impact on people.

Even though it shows that criminal is using crypto but people will relate it to cryto currencies can be exploited by bad peoples easily.
