Looking to mine my own node with a stick miner on winX with bitcoin core. Did really get anything from searches, hoping for some guidance in the right direction.

I already have core full synced and cgminer installed, is it as simple as just some config in core?

What do you mean by a stick miner on winX are you planning to mine with a windows machine with USB miner(2pac)?

Why not make host your pool with your node?
There is a guide that I found from google that I think you can follow for making your own pool then you can start to find someone that has ASIC machine to mine in your pool. Check this link How to setup own Mining Pool step by step

If you are talking about gekkoscience 2pac as a USB stick? if yes you can check this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1764803.0
