Andrew Yang is the Bitcoin-Friendly U.S. 2020 Presidential Candidate

With the exception of Wyoming and a handful of other states, blockchain regulation in the U.S. has been disappointing at best. Yet, there may be a ray of hope from Democrat Presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Just checked up on his background. One of his program (promise) is providing a Universal Basic Income for Americans. So in short, each month you can get $1k for your live. It's an interesting program for me who more or less like socialism. But won't this cause more inflation?

Anyway, based on his tweets history looks like this guy has been in touch with Bitcoin since 2013, but he looks like another speculator and not really a direct supporter in terms of development. Would be interesting to see what will happens if he got elected.

This candidate is much interested in creating more opportunities to work whatever the means, so you can not say frankly that he supports Bitcoin as an idea but as a means to achieve some profit.

Also, accepting Bitcoin & altcoins for his campaign means that he does not care much about the technology as long as he gets money and creates more jobs for citizens, support decentralization does not mean anything.

There is another Democrat candidate, John Delaney, an ex-Congressman from Maryland, who has previous tweeted about blockchain and crypto: https://twitter.com/JohnDelaney/status/1103855530131578880?s=19

There is also Tulsi Gabbard, Congresswoman from Hawaii, who is known to have purchased both Ethereum and Litecoin back in 2017.

Still, don't be a single issue voter. Just because someone holds or talks about cryptocurrency, doesn't mean their other policies are sensible.

How much I see Andrew Yang is quite irrelevant figure in next presidential election, and his universal basic income is only a populist measure that difficult or almost impossible can become a reality in USA. In 2017 Finnish government start such program, and after two years it is stopped. The idea is not bad, and it is mentioned first time in 16th century, but neither then nor today is not enforceable. To give something, and in return do not get anything just does not work in the philosophy of how functioning the world.

Judging by history of US electrions, voters tend to give each president another 4 years in White House, so whoever was opposing candidate, does not have too many chances to win against Trump.

Not only he is choosing populist ideas. Tulsi Gabbard wants to increase minimum wage to $15, good luck with that. People who desperately want to win usually promise people money in one way or the other. I'll give you higher wages! I'll give you free money for nothing!
Andrew yang has no chance IMO. Even Tulsi will get much more support simply for being a woman. US elections are all about getting the minorities on your side. Want to win against Trump? Be a woman, preferably black or hispanic, offer poor people money, be good looking and talkative. Not tax exemptions, these will help the rich too, free money for the poor masses like minimum wages, basic income, free medcare, free higher education. We'll see if Trump keeps the chair.

Really? Have we forgotten about McAfee so soon? Isn't he also running (and hasn't he run already?), or is his being an outlaw now voiding his candidacy?

Commenting on the candidate's idea of basic universal income: sounds interesting, if not immediately viable, but the models haven't been put into proper practice. It will hit home with many voters, but none who understand the crisis the US economy is already in. Even with crypto, I think I've come across a couple already attempting the concept but its got to be entrenched in some centralised aspect to kick off, so that will go down well in my opinion.

I don't simply believe that bitcoin's future success will have to depend on political support at all, I think it's something that had always been hyped up by the media.

Adoption can happen without necessarily an "candidate" supporting bitcoin directly per se. As long as there are not overwhelming negative legislation that is put in place that completely restricts access, I think that there is enough organic adoption from grassroot individuals to fuel network growth anyways.

Really? Have we forgotten about McAfee so soon? Isn't he also running (and hasn't he run already?), or is his being an outlaw now voiding his candidacy?

Exactly, you have to look at all sides of what they are advocating for. Not just with crypto policy.

Also, you have to look at how legitimate of a chance they've got to actually succeeding.

McAfee is a joke. The way he's acting on and off the net makes him a total joke in terms of him running for president. IIRC, he's being sought by different authorities, he has to continue moving from place to place.

Not saying Yang has better overall odds, but certainly better than McAfee's odds. I'm actually tired of seeing so many individuals try to use Bitcoin or blockchain as an excuse to gain some momentum.

If they would have done the same without surfing on the crypto blockchain hype I'm sure there would be way less press covering these bimbos. I don't take these people serious at all, and so shouldn't others do.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.

McAfee is a joke.
He's a criminal and a scammer. I'm not saying Yang is a good candidate by any means, but as he was tweeting about bitcoin price back in 2013, it at least seems like he had a genuine interest in bitcoin for the right reasons. McAfee is only interested/involved with cryptocurrency as a way to make himself more money. He is quite happy to promote any trash to his followers in return for the right amount of money - he was caught charging over $100,000 per tweet. The sooner everybody starts ignoring him, the better.

Absolutely. If his tweets are already worth like $100k, Imagine how much he got paid for his Skycoin tattoo. It's one thing to accept payment to shill shitcoins on social media, but a damn tattoo? It's so retarded.

Sure, he can get it removed eventually, but that requires a whole process of painful laser treatments that no one would want to undergo even if people get paid crazy amounts of money.

Feel bad for those who looked up to him and bought into the coins he shilled. It's people's own mistake for doing so of course, but no one deserves this. He abused his status for money in the worst possible way.

No need to feel bad for them. It's not that difficult to get an indication of his true nature, so if you ignore that while he has been quite a shady and questionable individual for years now, not just due to his crypto adventure, you're asking for it.

He's wasted. If you look at a few of his recent videos, he can't stop touching his nose. This behavior is quite common amongst coke abusers. I can't tell if hes addicted to the degree he needs to fund his expensive nose candy, but it could very well explain why he is so desperately trying to shill even the most ridiculous ICO scams. I seriously doubt that he would do this if his net worth didn't shrink so badly.

Regarding Andre Yang, he doesn't really seem that interesting to me to be honest. Nothing he stands for tempts me as Bitcoiner to vote for him. I'm certain that more people are like that, and those who aren't into Bitcoin or crypto in general will ignore him anyway.

Andrew Young is a rather unusual name for a US presidential candidate. The good news is that there are many supporters of cryptocurrency in the US Congress. Now in this country they are quite tough on cryptocurrency, it is necessary to change the general attitude to its existence. I hope that this will happen soon and the new president will be a supporter of cryptocurrency, and its regulation will soften a little.

It is one thing to be the president of a country and having strong beliefs in specific thing, but a whole other story to implement and support that in practice. We are seeing this in practice with Donald Trump and the wall between Mexico and the US that he promised, prior to his election.  Roll Eyes

We need to target the advisors to the president and people responsible for federal and state laws, regulators and related courts. The Congress only create and pass bills and the president signs those bills into laws.  Tongue

He would do better running as vice for one of the stronger candidates. He could then help them accept bitcoins to raise funds. They need help to compete with trump money

I don't know this guy since I'm not from US but I have heard and read this platform that he's trying to push once he wins. And the comments that I've read base on what he said are very disappointed and don't want that kind of platform. It will definitely cause a lot of people to stop working and will just depend on that compensation.
Andrew Young is a rather unusual name for a US presidential candidate.
Because it's more of a Chinese surname?
