Hey Guys,

We are drifting away from the current datacenters that host our mining business. So now we're looking into maybe using some mining containers, if they work.
Any good companies out there you can recommend?

We'd prefer to fit in at least 200 S9 form-factors (for the moment).

Thanks!

I don't know if they still do it but Bitmain themselves used to offer one.

I think the best mining container is the one that has a cooling system and air filter's so that you can prevent your inside air polluted and prevent your miner's to have dust fast.

You can check some mining container data center here https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/bitcoin-mining-container-data-center.html

Bitmain still offers the antbox in china. If you need help importing or want to request one let us know. I've seen retrofits of shipping containers if you want to save costs and build out yourself.

If you are looking for a pre-built all in one unit I noticed this on the Bitfury site a while back. Looks like you can top out at 12.6 PH off 1.1 MW. I can't imagine what the price would be for one of these but it is an option.

https://bitfury.com/hardware/blockbox

If by chance you did grab one and it was loaded with the "Tardis" model, please report back as I still haven't seen a Tardis anywhere.

Those look pretty cool.
Has a bit of a survivalist look with a hint of nerdy geek, the best mix of course.
Do you have much experience with those?
Once I get my stuff together and get some acreage with steady solar and any other hippie modes of powering my property, I am considering getting back into mining and that self-contained thing looks like it would save me a lot of mess and remodeling.

I don't know if they still do it but Bitmain themselves used to offer one.

mining containers are over priced IMO, have you tried looking into other options like building your own room in a warehouse or something like that?

We have containers specially designed for hotter enviroments. I am working in a mining farm in Paraguay and weather here is very hoy in summer. Winter barely goes to under 5C.

So we have to deal with the hot weather almost all the year.

With our very cheap solution we can down 5 to 8C below ambient temperature.

Here are some pics.

Or get an old container and mod it yourself? I have seen people building homes with them in Youtube... Of course, you could actually put the containers inside a warehouse...

Is that a solution where you make the filters / cellulose pads wet to provide cooling?
For how long have you run them? Max temp.?
Send a PM, interested in your solution.

Is just water at ambient temperature.
The first containers was made a year ago. It provided a cheap and efficient solution.
For best results next step will be use cold water. But we not have tested that option yet.

Outside temp is 32c

and behind the pads is 28c

Actually I'm more worried with that humidity increase, that is very important. If i were you, i wouldn't use the wetting thing. Lowering the outside temperature isn't as critical as that humidity. You will see more rust if you keep those containers at 72% in exchange for reducing a mere 4°C.

Let me tell you something, I saw a warehouse in a tropical climate, regular under roof is temp was 40°C, but with some thermal insulation, it came down to 30°C. No messing with an already high ambient humidity (which ironically can be brought down by putting some of the hot exhaust air back in).

To be blunt i think you are making a mistake in your containers, just worry about moving air, not cooling it down. But if anything, yes, just add a roof on top of the container, perhaps with enough space so that air can flow between. For added points, put some solar panels. Regular filters (non wet) are good for dust and such, those are fine. Of course i know there is a system that "self cleans" itself by using water, and as a side effect you get some cooling, but also humidity... Electronic equipment doesn't like too much humidity (or too little, your idea can be a blessing in dry places).

Actually I'm more worried [...]

Thanks for your very interesting opinion.
These containers are inside a warehouse. So, IMHO, the insulation you are talking about is perfect if the high temperature are caused by direct sunlight. But, in this case, the ambient air itself is at high temperature. The most important insulation we have is intake air from output air.

Humidity is not definitely something to not worry about. I think the biggest problem in this type of containers are the close distance between the pads and machines. The farther the better.

We are running this type of containers more than a year ago. Not much problem have caused any than rust in fan grill. Other farms nearby have adopted similar cooling systems since mid 2017. Their biggest mistake was miscalculation of air flux (sorry for this dull vocabulary and not explain with technical terms). I have not heard yet some big problem caused by humidity in these farms. In raining conditions or extreme humidity, of couse, we switch off the water pump.
