We have set up a new mixed mining poolserver for BTC (BitCoin) and NMC (NameCoin) under the address:

https://miner.ecki.net:444

You will mine with the same hashes for BitCoins AND NameCoins at the same time with our mixed mining poolserver. The poolserver does support CPU mining (LTC) on a different port as well.

This poolserver is operated by Ecki Co LTD at Koh Samui in Thailand.
More information about us is available at http://www.ecki.net.

We have started a championship:
On 4.11.2012 (one year after launch) the top 3 miners in our life time share statistic will win a holiday package on Koh Samui (Thailand) which covers following services:
1.) 3-1 weeks free accommodation on Koh Samui (Thailand)
2.) 3-1 weeks of free food (2 hot meals per day from Mo-Fr)
3.) 3-1 weeks of free laundry
4.) 3-1 weeks free Internet access over WiFi 54 Mb/s behind 20/5 Mb/s fibre optic line
5.) Pick up service to and from Samui airport

The travelling costs are NOT part of this prize.

The holiday package could be taken after 4th of November 2012.

Again, the first prize is 3 weeks, the second prize 2 weeks and the third prize is 1 week of this package.

Happy mining!  Grin

Sunny regards from the island,
 Eckmar Eckel
CEO Ecki Co LTD

edit: Now we have for our European miners a proxy server running at eu-proxy.ecki.net (clients only!).
edit2: Moved our European pool-server now to a better hardware.

edit3: Now we have another championship with our build in game (You have to guess the last digit of the next found block (NMC or BTC) to win a point, championship is running from 1.May 2012 till 30.April 2013). You need to be bronze member to participate on the game...
edit 4: Added Stratum protocol support on port 3333 with variable difficulty. Right now 12 Avalons are mining in the pool.
There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Can you clarify on your payout method ?

"use proportional round scoring"

Is this proportional (my shares/all shares*50=reward) or score (such as Slush) ?

We are using my shares/all shares*50=reward method, because we do not generate any scores...

I am not familiar with the score system from Slush.
Is there any advantage to use this score system?
Is it more fair?

Your pool will see a lot of pool hoppers. You should maybe switch to a pay per share variant to prevent this.

There's a good link for analysis.

Do you have a JSON feed running for your pool yet ?

Look at what has happened to BTC and mining in that much time!

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_pool_reward_FAQ

Is Pay-per-last-N-shares (PPLNS) a better way to pay out?

After reading, I think it is, but I am not 100% sure...

What is your opinion?

I am looking for long term miners and not for pool hoppers.
So I think it is the right thing to do to attract miners for long term mining.

The Hype is over, so come down to earth again.  Wink
To me it looks like, everybody want to become a millionaire within a few month by mining for BitCoins?
This is unrealistic!
We all need to come back to earth and calculate LONG TERM...then nobody will be disappointed...

So Pay-per-last-N-shares (PPLNS) is better? Or did I got something wrong?

JSON Interface is not yet implemented but something on the "to do" list...

Welcome Eckmar

Good to see.
Too many pools are started fur "fun" or to "play with the sofware". many have come and gone over the last 6 months
We need more that actually commit to the longterm and with an understanding of what that actually means Smiley
good luck in your venture,
Graeme

OK, we changed now the PPLNS payout system, because we do not like to support pool hoppers.
I read here https://bitcoil.co.il/pool_summary.pdf the rating of Meni Rosenfeld and I agree with his opinion.

Thanks Graeme,

I am looking at this poolserver really as something to support digital currency, not making profit.
I am doing worldwide network maintenance for making profit, this poolserver is something to support a great idea! A world currency which cannot be influenced by a country or government!

I am supporting that!

You're correct, pplns does not support hoppers as far as I know.

Good luck with your pool!

We have changed yesterday (08.11.2011) to PPLNS to prevent pool hoppers...

We currently have a fee of 1%, a transaction fee of 0.01 BTC or 0.01 NMC per transaction and use Last N Shares (1/2 Difficulty) round scoring to ensure payout of your hard work.

We just added today Email notification to our poolserver.

Under Account Details you can check now the box in front of Enable worker activity notification by email.
With that change you will receive an Email notification whenever the status of one of your workers change.

If there is a cash out (paying coins) you will also get an Email alert.

If you have any further questions or proposals do not hesitate to contact me here in the board or by PM.

2011-11-16

Today we added a distribution list, so everyone can see how the coins are distributed among the miners.
After confirmed the 120 confirms always switches to a link "Distribution" in the "Last 10 Blocks Found" statistic starting with our fourth found block.
So now every miner can see by block how many shares he mined for that block and how much coins he got for it.

Today (2011-11-21) we added two new "currencies" to our mixed mining poolserver.

Since 13.00 o'clock GMT everyone is mining in addition to BTC and MNC also for GG (Geist Geld) with the same hashes.
On top of this you can point your CPU miner to our port 7332 (instead of 8332) and mine there for LiteCoins.

Happy mixed mining!

If you have any questions or comments, please PM me...

To promote our new pool-server at https://miner.ecki.net:444 we are offering following Christmas Championship:

We start with 10 BitCoins in the Jackpot sponsor t by Ecki Co LTD.

Every share which is delivered between 1st of December 0.00 o'clock till 31st of December 24.00 o'clock will be listed in our December share list.
Every user with more than 1,000 shares delivered has one tip, for every 100,000 shares delivered he gets one tip more.
You have to tip the correct last digit of the first block found by the pool-server in the new year.
Because it is coded in HEX, the last digit could be anything between 0 and f.
Your chance to crack the Jackpot is therefore 1:15 with a single tip or e.g. 1:3 with four tips.

The winner gets the Jackpot right away to his account after the first found block in the new year.
If there is more than one winner, they have to share the Jackpot accordingly.
If nobody will have the correct tip, the 10 BitCoins will stay in the Jackpot and Ecki Co LTD will top it up by 5 BitCoins.
The championship starts again in January with the same rules as long until there is a winner.

These rules should make sure, that even a small miner with only 200 MHs still has a chance to get the Jackpot and High-End miners are rewarded with a higher chance to win the Jackpot by contributing more shares.

Any ideas, improvement suggestions or comments are welcomed.

Yesterday we have added JSON interface to our pool server.
Now you can access with your private API key your personal data without login in via HTTPS.

Can I have more information about where your one week holiday will be? Name of the resort?

Also would you consider moving back to your old style of pool. I am not a fan of your current pay method.

Thanks.

No Resort, you will be our guest in our house.
We have a 240 m² house on the top of a hill with fantastic view to Koh Phangan and to the ocean, 6 bed rooms (2 guest rooms with Queen size bed, where you will stay in one), 50 m² balcony with our own house palm (you could almost grasp the coconuts!).

I do not know a lot of Resorts which offer Internet access with several fibre optic lines over a load balancing router...  Grin
Here at our place you could have it, because we need it for our daily business anyway (http://www.ecki.net).

I will think about it, to offer Proportional as a second option selectable by the users... talk to my developer about it later today...

Sunny regards from the holiday island,
 Eckmar Eckel
