get them for £10 a year, and they accept BTC if you contact them and have a good history http://www.lowendbox.com/tag/uk/Good see some competition though, Im actually in the market for VPN currently but im away to india for 2 month end of year so may leave it until i return in march next year. But thanks for heads up That site just links to actual providers. We are an actual provider. I don't see anything about any of those companies accepting BTC either. You don't have to ask nicely to get us to accept BTC, since we do from the start! We aren't actually competing with the link you posted since we are US based at the moment, with our data center being located in Dallas, Texas. Yes, always forget that most people here are american We are planning a hosting solution in Europe but I don't have many details to give you at this moment. For now, we are focusing on US customers. Many US residents prefer EU or Iceland hosts

Thinking about ordering but first, do you own your servers, or are you just a reseller?

We rent our kits because they are very high quality hardware and we do not want to risk any damage if something happened during shipping. Here are a few benchmarks of our servers: Bandwidth Test:Dallas 2011-11-08 13:43:25 (106 MB/s) – “test500.zip” saved [524288000/524288000] Chicago 2011-11-25 15:37:27 (11.58 MB/s) – “100mb.test” saved [104857600/104857600] Raid Array Test:Dallas /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 15602 MB in 2.00 seconds = 7808.79 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 310 MB in 3.02 seconds = 102.68 MB/sec Chicago /dev/sda: Timing cached reads: 13992 MB in 2.00 seconds = 7004.89 MB/sec Timing buffered disk reads: 284 MB in 3.01 seconds = 94.39 MB/sec

Hello everyone, shell accounts are now available!
Shell accounts are hosted in Chicago. All shell accounts come with basic web hosting. We utilize mpm-peruser in Apache to run a secure shared hosting environment. Mpm-peruser ensures that each website runs as its own user as opposed to most shared hosting providers which run your website all under the same user. This forces you to keep your files world-readable. This also limits the implications of a security breach if it were to happen.
We also give customers access to IPv6 by default making your website ready for the future of the internet.
Shell Account / Hosting Features
Full shell access (bash) 500MB storage space 100GB transfer PHP Full MySQL databases 1 background process (IRC session, IRC bot, etc) Price: 2 BTC/mo Add-Ons
Extra background process – .5 BTC/mo Extra storage space (in increments of 1GB) – 1 BTC/mo

So are you billing in BTC or USD? ie. when bitcoin price fluctuates what happens to server fee? My VPS in UK is shutting down and I'm planning to move onto Amazon but I'm curious about this. At $4/BTC this is an ok deal but what happens when BTC goes up next year to $10/BTC? Am I still paying $12/mo. or $40/mo...

We adjust our prices according to the exchange rate. No matter if the Bitcoin price goes up or down you will still pay $12/month or $40/month etc.

Hey guys! I’d just like to take this time to announce our new dynamic pricing. What is dynamic pricing?Dynamic pricing allows our current Bitcoin rates to be synched with the largest Bitcoin exchange online. Our prices are updated every five (5) minutes to reflect the newest exchange rate. Why is this good? This pricing model is good because it ensures when you pay your invoice you’re using the newest exchange information. This makes sure that your payment is exactly the amount it should be, not a guess. We feel this is the future of Bitcoin billing and we’re glad to be the front runner in offering this technology. Happy Holidays! grubles

Hi guys!
rg here, the admin of BitVPS. I wanted to let you guys know we have a shell server aswell as virtual servers; for people who want something to IRC from besides their home connection but dont really need a full virtual/dedicated server. It's just 1 BTC, has IPv6 and less than 15ms latency to hubbard.freenode.net.
Right now my test IRC client has been connected for 340 hours .. Pretty stable.
Also with the current rate of BTC->USD our quadcore offering is extremely cheap. only 22 btc/mo!

Ahoy, james from bitvps here.
There are a few coupons left for people to get .5 BTC and .3 BTC off our VPS-C and VPS-B plans in our Chicago datacenter.
Coupon for VPS-B: CHIVPSB - 0.30 BTC off (for a year) Coupon for VPS-C: CHIVPSC - 0.50 BTC off (for a year)
If you would really really like to be in our other datacenter, Dallas, we would most likely be able to let you use these coupons for it aswell..

I'd like to order from you guys; you have reasonable prices and a good reputation, along with accepting Bitcoins. I have no experience with VPSs though; all previous web work I've done through cPanel. I'm fine with working in the command line; but I've never set up a web server that way before. Two questions: Do you recommend any particular OS for a "newbie" to VPSs, and do you know of any particularly good tutorials for setting up a web server with a VPS?
Thanks in advance, BinaryMage

Hey BinaryMage,
We dont offer any control panels out-of-box. If you wanted to pay for a cPanel license i'd be more than happy to install it for you. A license costs $15, thats the straight price, no markup from us.
RE: a 'newbie' OS... Well, cPanel only installs happily on a few OS's: CentOS versions 4.x, 5.x, 6.x Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® versions 4.x, 5.x, 6.x FreeBSD®-RELEASE versions 7.3, 7.4, 8.0, 8.1, 8.2 [4]
If you have any other questions feel free to mail me, james AT btcvps.net , just remove the spaces and AT = @
Cheers, James @ BitVPS

No, I don't need a control panel, I'd rather learn to use the command line anyway. I'll probably go with FreeBSD; it has a good reputation and some decent tutorials.
