It is based on ripple but only allowing hours as units. But, hey, you can trade anything, not only math class hours.

Some other useful links:

It's only starting and you need to ask for an invitation but looks easy to use and promising.

You don't need invitations to join anymore.

Trading without money or barter like this web allow is also a way to become less dependent on banks.
Let's take back the power we have delegated and they're abusing.
Let's participate actively in a more local economy and therefore less dependent on transport and oil (more sustainable).

"Money For People"

I think this was the slogan for "The Human Fund" which was Castanza's made up charity so that he could scam his office co-workers in Seinfeld in the holiday season.  Heh

With this web only the people you decide to trust directly can scam you. But you can pay other people because of the indirect trust that exist in the "web of trust". It has ripple (free software) inside.
If villages isn't in a repository as free software yet, Ryan will probably do it like he did with ripplepay, so you don't even have to trust the server. But in the end the "money" here are just IOUs (acknowledgements) to and from the people you trust.

Give it a chance before assuming it's a scam. The web is not going to ask you dollars or bitcoins.

I'm sorry, I misinterpreted you. My fault.

Not a prob.  There are certainly a lot of developments in the works for electronic payment/cell phone payment.

It will be interesting to see which ones take off.

I just received an e-mail about Dwolla merchant examples.

In fact, adapting the web for smartphone is still in the TODO list.
There's a discussion in the ripple forum about what would be the best way to make this.
