What is RSK?
RSK is the first open source Smart Contract platform secured by the Bitcoin Network. RSK adds value and expand functionality to the Bitcoin ecosystem by providing smart contracts and greater scalability, enables decentralized applications secured by the Bitcoin Network to empower people and improve the quality of life of millions.


RSK's Vision
There’s more than three billion people in the world with poor or no access to the basic financial services necessary to participate and thrive in our society. Bitcoin was created to provide individuals with economic freedom and in our vision also set the foundation for the construction of new Internet for the transfer of value. RSK Smart Contract Network was created as means to bring this vision to life and enable prosperity and equality around the world.


Technology

• Smart Contracts - Write smart contracts in Solidity and develop decentralized applications compatible with Web3 standards.

• Merge Mining - RSK is the first smart contract platform built as a sidechain to Bitcoin that rewards the Bitcoin miners via merge-mining, allowing them to actively participate in the RSK Smart Contract ecosystem. Bitcoin miners that participate in RSK's merge mining secure the blockchain, and receive compensation for the execution of smart contracts.

• Federation - Federation members are notaries who act as bitcoins guardians in the Bitcoin-RSK Bridge, obeying the network rules. Federation members are recognized companies within the cryptocurrency industries.

• RSK Name Service - RNS is a decentralized service that allows users to have a readable domain or alias. It can be used to identify other personal resources, such as payment or communication addresses.

Well RSK is the smart contract platform and runs on RBTC (smartBitcoin) which is always pegged to BTC. While RIF is the stack of protocols offering RSK cloud computing services and runs on RIF token. In a simple word, I think there's no such thing like couple and de-couple.
