Gambling will be very comfortable to play when we have a goal to get pleasure. When someone is aiming for profit then it is a mistake. I spend hundreds of USD every month playing gambling and I feel comfortable, because my goal is to get entertainment. it depends on the gambler if what is his goals . some plays for profit and some plays for fun  , both kinds are not bad  . gambling itself isnt also bad , what's bad is if the person who are playing it will loose his self control or in short if he will become addicted  because addiction can cause the situation more worst  .

I have to research for the term, but glad google help me, destitute defines as poor in simple terms. 

Gambling is just for fun only. Gambling is not a way to make money. I know many people play gambling to earn money.

It's for fun because we can still make money while having fun, but it's not possible to most of us.
Many people aim to make money but most of us also fail, gambling is not a good source of income, it's because we don't have the edge.

Its so funny for me when about 90% people (and gouvermnet) don't see anything bad in lottery buying lottery ticket to win big money where there is 1:10 000 000 probability of winning and you can win 2 000 000 times your bet what gives us "house" edge equal to 80% where on average casino game house edge is close to 3% and everyone is saying that gambling is bad - a way to lose money. There have been a lot of true stories about someone losing everything due to gambling. I know most of us probably know someone who met this kind of fate. It's just gambling's nature it seems. To bleed those foolish enough to get addicted to it dry. Some were able to recover while some just didn't have enough luck to get them back on track.

If you will be gambling for fun or entertainment then why would you gamble with real money in the first place? There are tons of casinos out there that offer free virtual fake currency to gamble. You better stick to those casinos. But if you gamble with real money, that's where the problem begins. Once you start winning real money, you will eventually get addicted due to greed and in the long run if you continue, you will end up losing everything.

Lost their house because he sold it not telling his wife, sold some property and left a huge debt to the family. Now his family left him and he's now roaming around begging for alms. Sad but that was his choice. Before falling into a total destitution one must have known it already and he was aware it is going to happen but he let it happen.

True. If a player is not careful and has no self discipline he will surely end up destitute and he will greatly suffer for his irresponsible act of carelessness. If a person has no issue financially then he can play as much as he wants and lose with out limit but for a person who has limited budget, gambling must never be his target of earning money from or he will be broken. Yeah, That's a problem for people who "over-force" themselves to gamble.
Gambling itself doesn't cause them to be poor or the OP uses the word "destitute". The thing that causes them to be poor is gambling addiction. And as we know, more are addicted than those who are disciplined to play.

That is not working smart. We have a very different definition of working hard. Working smart for me is generating money with no to the minimal effort without risking your own wealth. Gambling, no matter how you put it, is risking your money. There is no working strategy just plain luck.

Well on the contrary, I do not see gambling as only a game for fun. That’s only your opinion. If gambling was for fun only, there will not be people who would commit amount of money that would turn them to destitute; there won’t even be need for advice to people on how to play. After all there are so many avenues people catch fun daily and none goes out of his way to make a commitment that will have negative impact.

It always sound so easy to advice people to play for fun, Why do you spend that much monthly playing gambling, hundreds of USD isn’t a small amount to gamble, or are there no free casinos you can play for pleasure. why do you then commit money to play if it is just for fun.

The reality is that you committed money with an expectation of money back in return but wisdom and lack of greediness would make you put the amount of money you can easily afford to loose. I think we should play more emphasis on how the game should be played than the purpose of playing.
