The transactions are checked and verified within blockchain. So, it's not possible to recoup your lost BTC.

~snip~

The bad news for you is that no one can help you to recover stolen coins, so it is best to learn something from this bad experience and move on. Bitcoin has some disadvantages, and one of them is when transaction is confirmed on blockchain, no one asks whether it is a legal transaction or it is something like what happened to you.

I just hope you did not lost too much money, and that you will learn how security is important when it comes to cryptocurrency. Download wallets only from legit sites, and learn how to verify signature + keep you device clean from malicious programs.

Thank you, verify signature?

Proving you own the address that the funds were stripped from doesn't help you at this point.

If the authorities get involved and happen to find the culprit, and (eventually) proceed to returning the bitcoin to it's rightful owners, then maybe they'll ask for a signature verification.  But the odds of that happening are slim to none.

Like Lucius said, you're not likely to ever see that money again, unfortunately.  Hopefully you didn't lose much and will be able to recover from your loss.  Think of it as paying for an education, and knowledge is priceless.

Thank you, verify signature?

ETFbitcoin&DireWolfM14, he is referring to my post where I mentioned downloading wallets and verify signature.

Now it is too late to verify anything, but in future you should check files you download before installation. In that way you can be sure that files are legit, and that there is no malicious files. It is not complicated to do that, and it something very important when it comes to crypto wallets.

Here is tutorial how to do that : How to verify your Electrum [Windows, Linux, Mac]

i dont verify that step by instruction, download only legit site : https://electrum.org
than running electrum standalone offline with fresh computer. worked fine for me

1) File a police report
2) You can track the BTC, if they go into an exchange like binance, ask them to freeze the funds
3) provide the exchange (binance) a copy of the police report and hope for the best.

If the stolen BTC are of low value (i.e. less than 10k) , then the exchange might not bother with your request as it happens all the time
