It seems to me that altcoins have much more chances for growth than bitcoin or other coins from the top 10. For myself, I decided that I invest in promising newcomers. I find little-known coins and see if there is technology and a unique concept there, and if I find it, I invest in these projects. Or start mining as for example Sound Money Coin.

You should only just choose those altcoins that are in the top 10 because they acquire lesser amount of risk. Yes, you could not earn a lot here, but it is guaranteed that you cam earn 2-20% of your investment in time.

Using coinmarketcap top 10 approach doesn’t guarantee that the project will still not fail or its best for investment, most important is the quality of the products they offer after ICO, with the manipulation many people assumed to be going on in the market, if true, it means that those marketcap value manipulated may not have a good product to speak for them which is why they end up looking for a way to manipulate it and get investors’ attention since majority of them look out for top 10 or top 20 to invest in, once they reach certain market cap they desire in real time and can no longer pay for it to be manipulated, they will end up crashing back to almost the lowest.

Recently, ICO's never have that good contribution into crypto market in fact, it dragging out from being in good trend and creating failures. ICO scams and some bad issues making a way that many investors won't trust crypto and even sell their coins in cheap which causing a huge dump. Not just dump but totally making it badly. Maybe, we should have to correct these at this time and putting back our trust into crypto again as what we did in previous years.

I avoid all low-volume coins, spend money only on top altcoins, why risk buying unpopular projects when the prices of the top fell so low and their benefit from their purchase is obvious to all

Yes, top coins will be safer. The possibility of altcoins are right for the investment, is equal to the possibility of it is wrong. This depends on your choice. When you make the right choice, you will earn.

I think Yes, because some altcoins are really profitable and You can make good amount of profits from this.Altcoin like ETH, Doge, Ripple are trustable and I do invest on them often.Though now the market is down but after bitcoin these coins are reliable to invest.So i would suggest to invest in ETH first because this is the coin you can trust and make profit from this.

For me maybe asking the forum about the their top cryptocurrency or altcoins and list them all and get the top 10 or top 5 then do my own research about the coin like
1. What's the use of this coin today?
2. Use of this coin in the future
3. What problem this project solved
4. Future development of this project
