Some of you will remember this thread:

MASSIVE CHEAT of related accounts **red trust tag from DT users needed**

The story began as soon as i was asked by  cryptobaro for proofreading the spanish work and realized it was a masterpiece of sh**. Then we started the investigation.
As soon as i received some merits (2), i send the same amount to cryptobaro. But finally i was granted with many more and i find it is unfair that they all were send to me, because he also helped me beginning this anti-scammer journey! How can i send the rest of merits (20) to him without seeming some kind of merit abuse?

thanks for your answer

If you think his work deserve to be merited just send him those merit points. No one will blame you if you don't do that though.

Add a note in your thread asking those who are willing to merit your post to send merits to other contributors too.

Why do you feel the need to send the whole 20 Merit’s to him? Is the work he did worth that much? If you think it is then send it to him.

You could always send him 5 & find other people worthy of Merit to send the other 15 to.

It's up to you how you spend your Merits and when you think he deserves 20 it's absolutely no problem to do so.

The only way of Merit abuse needs to have a really clear pattern for giving huge amounts of Merit to shitposts or send a Merit to your own alt. As long as the post of cryptobaro isn't a bounty submission I'm totally ok with your intention to spend your sMerit.

But finally i was granted with many more and i find it is unfair that they all were send to me, because he also helped me beginning this anti-scammer journey!
That's how the Merit system works, you can't defend yourself against receiving Merit.  Tongue

I looked at his posts in that thread and they involve research on his part. Go ahead and distribute the 20 merits to those posts and any others that are related that I am not aware of.

How can i send the rest of merits (20) to him without seeming some kind of merit abuse?

As others say, you can just send him those 20 merits by meriting just one of his post, or you can find more good posts by him and divide those merits. Since you open this thread and explain situation, it is safe to give that user 20 merit, and it would also be quite safe if you did not open this thread.

But I can say that I understand your concern for that matter, merit abuse is a problem which is almost impossible to solve.

Just send him the merits. I recently sent 20 points to a user I was aware of from outside the forum because I recognized his previous work and concluded he would be a valuable contributor to the forum even though his account was new. As long as you clearly aren't propping up alts, or just rewarding people for parroting your opinions, I don't think anyone would object.

no one is entitled to receiving merit just for finding scammers,  your work and his are highly appreciated,  but if his posts went unmerited, it's not the end of the world, i don't think you should send him all 20 merit , unless you see no better posts anywhere else, but indeed do send some.
