I was amazed and maybe this could be the next generation of cold storage. It was strange that the video was uploaded in 2017, maybe I was just late seeing it. Anyways, just wanted to share it to everyone in the community and maybe they can have an idea (maybe engraving our seed or private key).

That is my first time to watch the video. So far, technology impress so much, I am amazed by what technology can do, and I think more new things will happen from technology. Cryptocurrency is only one of the new technology, and it still develops to a better way so people will don't have a problem when they use. Still, that video shows me that laser can be useful in the right hand.

i can't open youtube videos here but i have to say engraving, etching,... private keys on metal is not a new thing. it has been happening for years. it is nothing special either. it is a more expensive version of creating a paper wallet that has a much higher endurance. and obviously you can't do it yourself at home and have to trust a third party to do it for you, so your option is to only do it with encrypted keys or risk losing all your coins.

a much easier and in my opinion better way of doing it is engraving using the special letters that you can buy and all you need is a metal plate with a hammer!

^^ This. I'm been thinkering this idea for quite some time now. You don't have special skills needed here, just the old metal plate and a hammer will do the trick. Recently, I have a friend whose house got burned that's why it just crossed my mind that I need something to do specially with my cryptos.

Although they are safe somewhere, but this is another way to back it up in case something happens in the future.

i'd rather use a titanium plate and engrave my seed words for cheaper and without having to involve a stranger.
works so far and the plates were available on amazon, as well as the engraver.

Titanium sounds like an overkill to me and it is more expensive than other metals. I believe using a stainless steel plate will cost a lot less and also it is going to offer you the same material properties that you are looking for. after all what are you trying to protect it from? it is not like you are going to keep it in special corrosive and damaging environment!
besides an stainless steel plate is so much easier to find compared to titanium plate.

Imho laminated paper works for almost everybody. As you said, "nobody keeps the keys in a corrosive and damaging environment". Most keep them inside (a) house building.
And for those that want to bury them in the back yard, stainless steel is already almost more than they need.
Of course, as long as there is demand for "overkill" solutions, some will provide them and ask a big enough price.

Then go for it mate, for me it's a overkill but if you have the budget then their's nothing wrong with that.

It is an incredible video I've ever seen. It would be great that I have a this one. But I think there may be a trust issue all the time.

It is nice cold storage coin with cheap price as well, too bad it is out of stock currently. The only available coin is for ethereum which cost $20. The package is also nice, it can be used as souvenir/gift to others. I'll keep on visiting the site as I'm very interested to buy some of it. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, unfortunately, it was sold out. Maybe there are trust issues but I wanted to get my hands on it and play around.  .

So for now if you really wanted to have one then probably go with the metal plate as others have said. And just remember that we should go to the trusted site, I don't know maybe scammers have way to take advantage of this as well so just be careful everyone. (and maybe that's where the trust issues comes in.)

I was amaze on how they made that kind of coin until I saw this video. Using this kind of storage for your coin Laser scheching on a piece of metal are safe since it cannot be hack unless you misplace it cannot be damage until you melt it. The different from most of the coin out there is the printing of it. It made easier to produce.

In an age where almost everything is stored in the cloud, this simply seems non-essential.

using this method is all about having the ultimate cold storage which is stored "physically" instead of digitally (like hardware wallets) and is resistant to damage such as in case of a fire. for example if your house burns down your hardware wallet is going to melt, your paper is going to evaporate instantly, your computer is going to explode,... but your "metal wallet" which you etched is going to remain intact and you won't lose your bitcoins.

Although that is not new, it was print on the metal plate, so I think it's something new for me because so far, I only know that paper wallet will do the job. But right now, with the technology of the laser, it could print the wallet, so we have a physical wallet like gold.

Exactly. And again although others have pointed out that this is not new, but this is something I haven't heard or see. Although I've searched the forum and found this one, Bitcoin Private Keys engraved in Diamond, yes Diamond  . Hardware wallet is the best, but at least we have options today and can really protect our investments in those etched cold storage coin.

Great development indeed but I can see the video was made in 2017 and this method would have been in existence for some while now but not commonly known. I believe it’s going to be cost effective which might not make majority of people to be interested in it.

Correct, so this method might be in existence for some time now. Maybe it was not well known or not being supported because we are in a bear market and many has exited in 2018.

It's quite cheap so I don't know why people will not be interested though. At least you have alternatives and we here in crypto have been talking on how to make our private keys secure in every way and this one might do the job.
