Few days ago I deleted my Coinbase account. It was not only me but thousands of users did the same. #DeleteCoinbase

So yes, thank you but no thanks.

EDIT:
Why do you need this "Asset Custody" when you can use MultiSig address.
Why would I trust a company who do not value my privacy? If they can compromise my privacy for money or whatever the motivation then they can mishandle my asset for the same reason. I will be find with a MultiSig wallet.

Seems like Coinbase is taking another direction after the denial from the end users.

Am I missing something?

That's fine, in fact I personally do not have an account on Coinbase.  This is for institutions/institutional investors.

For instance:

* Asset Allocators
* Endowmends
* Foundations
* Pension Funds
* Family Offices

* Hedge Funds
* VC Funds
* Index Funds
