Is it just me, or is there still no option for 2fa here at BTT yet? I feel like it would significantly decrease the chances of people hijacking accounts on here...Its hard to take sites seriously these days that don't offer 2fa.

Google it.

I lost the count of how many posts there are about adding 2FA here.

TLDR: Wait for the new forum software. It's not going to be added on this one.

I have seen such suggestions from the time i have been in this forum. It's a very important security feature but I think it's been planned for the new forum software which is currently being tested by some users and not this one.
You may have to wait a little longer.

Im sure it is one thats been brought up multiple times - Just wanted to make sure it was something that the site owners were still seeing though as a request...feel like this should have been done "as long as you guys have been on here", for real

as others have mentioned you need to wait for the new forum, i also don't understand why so many members asking for 2FA and thinking it's the ultimate secure options online when it is not, it really is not as secure as many people think, there are more important security measurements that you need to learn about and apply first, 2FA is merely another little security addition.

Waiting for new forum as same as waiting for the day bitcoin will come back to the $20000 price range. I don't wait for it, instead I secured my account by signing message and staking my bitcoin via the following topic.
Stake your bitcoin address here
as others have mentioned you need to wait for the new forum
If the OP don't know how to secure account in the forum, please read these topics:
TUTORIAL: How to use Electrum (for beginners)
TUTORIAL: How to use Electrum (for advanced users)
For now, I think this security method is enough, very secured. Furthermore, should always use as strong passwords as possible for your account in the forum, and your registered email (2FA for your email should be used, too).

2FA Google Authenticator is used by software, when logging in with numbers, this I think is a good step to prevent theft or wallet of your account.

But the 2FA google authenticator has weaknesses and must be careful when using authenticator application sites.
1. When you have to scan or code, the problem is, if your cellphone is lost it makes you unable to enter your account again, during the recovery process, this is an obstacle to doing 2FA google authenticator, if it is not supported by other applications.
2. another weakness that arises 2FA google authenticator, is only supported by android and lOS platfrorm, it is not supported by desktop and browser add, this is the same if it happens as above, if only one device is supported it makes you more complicated and you can't access anymore.
3. And there is another downside to the application of 2FA authenticator with a very simple device password protector this is inadequate.

To prevent the above you can use ( https://authy.com/ ) as a supporter of the 2FA authenticator application, you can learn more about using AUTHY to support 2FA authenticator, so that you are more secure and can continue to access your account if your cellphone is lost.

Epochtalk will have it, but until we upgrade to that forum software, there will be no implementation here.
And to migrate to Epochtalk we need to troubleshoot a little be before that.

Is it just me, or is there still no option for 2fa here at BTT yet? I feel like it would significantly decrease the chances of people hijacking accounts on here...Its hard to take sites seriously these days that don't offer 2fa.

I do not like doing 2FA for it could be hard to recover account especially if it will be link to a phone and get stolen or lost. One can never access again with that account and for that it would be a pain. Bitcointalk.org has been secured this time so what really needed is to trust the dev., trust theymos and the admin that is working hard for the development of the forum.

We will also have to consider the launching of the new forum and it is very substantial to wait for now because transition will going be observe from the time that the new forum will be officially announce for its operation.

Uhh, almost all 2FA services such as Authy/Google Authenticator provide backup codes you can write down and use in case your phone gets lost/stolen. That is if you're using a pre-paid number.

Also, this applies even more to email adresses. If your email adress gets hacked, there's usually not really any *easy* way to get it back (unless it's GMAIL.).

You can always recover your account with a signed message from a bitcoin adress?
