How do sites such as cryptomixer.us, bitcoin fog, etc work? I just used cryptomixer and it split up my money into like 100 wallets. Is there any way I can do this without using a service? Quite interesting

To get started, you’ll need the following:
The Tor browser or a similar Tor-enabled interface to anonymously access the web and DarkNet. We recommend following the entire tutorial (including reading this page) in the Tor browser to maximize anonymity A bitcoin wallet with the amount of bitcoin you want to mix. This can be a normal wallet created on the clear net, which we’ll refer to as your “market” wallet. I’ll be using my Coinbase account. A basic understanding of how to send bitcoin and fund a wallet An encrypted, plain text note to keep track of all the addresses, IDs, and other information you’ll need throughout this process
This is the first thing that shows up when you type your question into google, so my advice is just read that. i see what you did there using throwaway account like this :3

It works by sending your coins to another person's destination and another person's coins go to yours. You can't do it without other people. However, you can use the Lightning Network instead of a service. It is an effective mixer because transactions are done off-chain and go through other people.

Mixers are usually set up in a way that can simply steal your money, coinjoin is a better way of obfuscating ownership as there's no risk of theft you can use the Lightning Network instead of a service. It is an effective mixer because transactions are done off-chain and go through other people.
sort of. If you do just one payment with Lightning, the money you receive is not exactly unknown in ownership (as the person who sent it to you knows, athough this is still better than regular onchain transactions and the same privacy level as using a mixer) But once you do a bunch of lightning payments, knowing exactly where money originated gets more difficult. Since lightning is fast and cheap, that process will be very quick if you're a regular user.

They mixed all the bitcoin in a pool or wallet and tracing the original transaction will be hard, is this the type you want to achieve? I don't know if this is possible for a normal person to do, most people don't bother doing such thing and just went straight to a mixer to avoid the hassle.

As the name implies mixers what it does is to split your crypto coin into several places with just a single transactions, just like the lightening network in that way it reduces the cost of sending because you spend less amount on the fees. I am new into lightening but from what I understand so far once you have a lightening channel you can send bitcoin to several accounts with just a small fees but you pay for the channel. It good for those that make several transactions such as campaign managers.

I'm also not familiar with these mixers. Correct me if I'm wrong but this is how I understand this mixer, you will send your coin and the mixer will mix all the coins by you and other people that joined the mix and you will get randomized coin? Is that it? https://[banned mixer]/how.html. That's how I interpreted that link.

Yes. This effectively erases your coins' history, as when they come out, people won't know exactly where they came from, if they're associated with so and so addresses, or who even owns them.

Yes, you can do this, only need a trusted third party and will give you some privacy layer. Using mixers will increase the difficulty but even with that services, the track-ability is possible [read more ----> Breaking Mixing Services] The best solution is to exchange your BTC into cryptos based on privacy "Monero" and resend your coins or use Chipmixer "remember it is linked to trust."

While such tumblers may make tracking more difficult, it is my understanding that some of the software used by law enforcement is able to track flows to and from the tumblers to specific individuals.

I don't think that this is worth the hassle. I definitely would not want to convert my crypto into a privacy based currency that you mentioned in order to make it tougher to trace since this just over complicates things. For the average joe, mixers are the most effective and efficient tools to get the job done in this case.

Lightning is the best mixer there is for that reason! Off-chain transactions show up nowhere.

Off-chain transactions show up nowhere.
they have to show up: in your channel, and also for the other person in your channel (there must be 2). So at least 1 person extra knows you have money, because they relayed it to you. That person has no idea where the money came from though.

so far I haven't found a way that doesn't use services, and I think that's pretty good for you to use, and it's very useful.

Quite interesting. Are you sure you really used cryptomixer.us? Because it's a clone of https://[banned mixer]/ I also remember a few people joining the forum to say they got scammed by this mixer. If anyone is planning to use this service, be careful and DYOR.

I have never used this site, but in my opinion this site is very doubtful, a little suggestion not to get a scammer like my comment above.

Funny that the only complete address he remembered was from a fake website. This is an attempt to scam users, beware. There are thousands of fake addresses with clone sites. Always research before using such a service.

This should be read before thinking using this site, be smart looks like a good way to gain attentions, there's good mixing services that you can find around the forum which already have a good reputations, be aware and always do your deep research avoiding to be scammed.
