What we have done or are doing to promote the mass adoption of bitcoin is a pertinent question which needs honest answers. The aim of this right-up is to encourage we bitcoiners to join in the fight for mass adoption, even in our little corner.

Bitcoin like every the traditional currency needs to be widely accepted and used for its value to increase. The economist says that it is the forces of demand and supply (Market forces) that determines the price (Value) of a commodity. When mass adoption is achieved, demand for bitcin will be higher, leading to a price surge. Other than that, Bitcoin is freedom, fast secure and efficient. It is a decentralized currency which you spend whenever and wherever you wish without third party control or regulation, it is the next world currency and should be adopted by all.

For this adoption to be gained effectively, we bitcoiners need to preach bitcoin adoption, practice and live it for the adoption to be swift and as soon as possible. Imagine if 1 million bitcoiners can impart and introduce bitcoin and its potentials to 10 people each, do your maths (1,000,000 * 10= 10m) Now imagine if the 10m people now are able to get extra 10 people each? You see the multiplier effect?
Bitcoin adoption is a task to be achieved by we all. Lets teach our family, friends, colleagues and neighbors of the inherent benefits of bitcoin and how to use it.

Personally, I have used my position as the church treasurer in my church to introduce the use of bitcoin for payment of tithes and offerings. Members who use bitcoins are given my bitcoin wallet to make payments, while others can pay cash.
I run a little computer training institute and all my workers are paid in bitcoins. My students have a 2% fees deduction if they pay in bitcoins.

In my own way, through my efforts, over 40 persons and counting have adopted bitcoin and are actively using them. I hold seminars for them and others as well. Through your efforts too, more people can adopt bitcoin, lets become the droplets of water that makes a big ocean.
Brighten the corner where you are, preach bitcoin, live bitcoin, love bitcoin, use bitcoin untill the whole world adopts it

The problem is, even if we preach and teach about crypto, non-bitcoin believers willonly see it either as a way to gain income or a scam. People are always concerned with how will they will earn money, and yet scared to invest in something that they are new about. In time without putting too much effort cryptocurrency knowledge will spread without is noticing it.

I have tried to introduce bitcoin to many people around me but unfortunately most of them are not attracted because they thinks that bitcoin and blockchain technology is so hard and complicated to learn. I cant blame them though, I have to admit that I live in a small village where most people are still doing traditional ways to get income for their life and do not really care about modern technology in the internet.
I'm not giving up, I keep on trying and hopefully they will be interested to join.

Whoa that's some outreach telling people in your church and students but i also think the mass adoption of bitcoin can be achieved if bitcoin itself is improved in terms of its speed of making transactions. Currently bitcoin can make about 7 or less transactions within a second, so you can imagine how slower this is going to get if half of the world decide to use bitcoin in making payments for transactions.

the best thing I could have done is to encourage other businesses, merchants,... to accept bitcoin as payment while telling them about the benefits of doing so and avoiding advertisement of bitcoin as an investment or get rich quick, or basically anything involving profit making. I have also spent bitcoin anywhere that accepts bitcoin and is offering something I want. I have even bought computer hardware from physical shops with bitcoin.

the worst thing that people can do in the name of "promoting bitcoin" is to tell others to buy bitcoin, hold and become rich!

This is one of the problems. People still know very little about Bitcoin and blockchain and many are not interested to learn no matter how hard you try to promote it. But mass adoption can't depend on individual promotion and it's not tied only to people's knowledge about Bitcoin. In the first place it is depending on legal regulation and financial baseground that are necessary for mass adoption both by individuals and businesses. So the problem is much more complex than what are we as individuals done to promote Bitcoin.

What I've done to introduce bitcoin to all, I tell them that this is a kind of money but no bank needs it to keep it. it's likely that you just heard it but it's true and it's not a scam. most people I told about it got shock until I let them research for themselves and tell me what can they say about it. mostly they join me using it as a payment for Game Credits and some of them use it to buy a load on mobile phones.

In the first place it is depending on legal regulation and financial baseground that are necessary for mass adoption both by individuals and businesses.

you are basically saying that bitcoin has failed!
as a decentralized currency the whole point of bitcoin has always been to NOT need regulations, government intervention, or anything like that. so if you are saying adoption of it depends on regulation by the government then you are saying bitcoin has failed.

and that is not the case. bitcoin doesn't need regulation and for the past 10 years it has continued being adopted without any regulations and will continue doing so just as well.
not to mention that in most cases regulations only means more taxes and limitations and nothing constructive.

Its good to see your efforts in trying to promote Bitcoin to the masses, but the biggest hurdles here are:

1. Complicated for many people
2. Controversial(Scams, Hacks, Ponzis etc)
3. Why take a risk on something so volatile when FIAT is far more reliable and dependable?
4. Network congestion now and then leading to TX time and speed problems
5. Majority of the investors view Bitcoin as an asset rather than a currency

These are just a couple of reasons why mass adoption is still very far away, but regular developments(LN etc) in these aspects will help make this a reality at some point in the future.

This is a good question. The right people to answer would be the Early adopters and Original inhabitants of the forum. Those are the only people who can actually make a difference because they have enough BTC to make a difference. The rest of us can post away all we want, it won't change the fact that majority of BTC is being hoarded due to lack of avenues to spend or to avoid taxation.

Even on our forum, not enough of these people can be found. Maybe due to privacy reasons and the very real risks that early adopters have if they are known to be big hodlers. This is the major impediment in adoption. No matter how many free tutorials spring up, without a spending spree, BTC isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Imagine if the Federal Reserve had decided to hoard all its USD bills and opened a million free tuitions to tell people about the "advantages" of Fiat currency. Would we ever see adoption on the global scale we have now?? No.  Fiat gets adopted because those who produce it and hold it, spread it out in form of wages and as public investments.

Unfortunately, those who produce BTC (Miners), sell it off to maintain operations and earn Fiat. Those who hold it (Early adopters, 1000+ purse-holders), JUST HODL IT. I believe that maybe a jolly few amongst them open Sig campaigns and run Gambling dens here at the forum. That is what maintains the trickle down effect. Where are all the others from the forgotten tombs of BCT?? Fuck knows.. Grin Roll Eyes

This could be a good discussion if a few old people came forward anonymously to actually tell their stories.

We have different perception in promoting bitcoin to our society or even our friend and family. I know it will contribute to tempt people and have mass adoption if you have shared good stuff regarding bitcoin matter. From the blog in youtube and some good articles stating Bitcoin, I share that on my social media account like facebook and twitter. I know in that way I can contribute to spreading the goodness of bitcoin if they adopt this and of course it will result in mass adoption.

Honestly its hasn't been an easy task convincing people to adopt and embrace the use of bitcoin, personally I realised that the past bitter experience of some the unfortunate people who invested in the scam and fraudulent MMM ponzi scheme had resulted to people exercising caution into any online investment now.
Although I was able to convinced two of my colleagues to see reason why they need to invest in bitcoin while I had succeeded in getting one of them having his blockchain wallet funded with some btc for a start and practical idea of hodling it

I've been asking local merchants here if they accept bitcoin as an alternative when I'm buying some local products here. They ask what is bitcoin and I said that it's an online currency which is accepted by most people who uses the internet on their daily transaction, fast and secure way to pay someone, unlike most payment method.

You just said it the way I do. I don't make it look like it's a compulsory thing for anyone. Talk about it to clise friends and then let it just pass. After all, there are countries where the British Pound is still not recognized as money. So, why should we expect that everyone must accept Bitcoin. But honestly, Bitcoin has already recorded greater success than expected within its short time of existence. That is if anyone takes into cognizance the history of money.

Brighten the corner where you are, preach bitcoin, live bitcoin, love bitcoin, use bitcoin untill the whole world adopts it

just to confirm: you teach people how to use crypto for paying for something at church, correct?

Sooner or later this will happen soon. For those who miss it, of course they will experience tremendous regret. The opportunity to use crypto will be missed and many people have had satisfactory results. The spread of crypto information is actually quite good because nowadays there are so many people who can access the internet, which determines whether the person wants to understand crypto or not, that is something that must be understood. Usually people who want to learn crypto are someone who is not difficult to use crypto and they have a high willingness.

the worst thing that people can do in the name of "promoting bitcoin" is to tell others to buy bitcoin, hold and become rich!
True. I totally agree with you on this. When investors goes around inviting people to buy and hold  Bitcoin. It makes it looks more like a ponzi scheme.
It would have been a great achievement if Bitcoin are used by huge shoppings outlets and businesses but nevertheless, the idea of introducing small business to using Bitcoin is a huge baby steps for greater adoption.

Some users mislead other people just to get profit on their affiliate links, its too bad for the people to easily believe on that. We can promote bitcoin in anyway we want but hopefully you will do the right thing so bitcoin will have no bad image anymore. Small businesses might be on their resistance mode right now but for sure they will do what is right in the future, they will adopt it.
