I agree on more on this one than what the OP emphasize, because we have seen this happen in the past, and another one is the fork, whenever there is a fork, Bitcoin price always surge high because everyone wants to get a slice of a free coin.

So Europe keeps printing more money? How many times has Europe crashed? The Fed is printing money? Just 10 years ago Bitcoin grew out of the 2008 collapse precisely because the Fed printed tons of money to bail banks out.

This is the same way they said that if the price should get pass $5,145 that there will be a bull run, now we are currently at $5,285 and you’re still talking about bull run coming when it gets a bit above. Okay, I do believe that bull run is coming, but all these analysts are just making noise, and they are always wrong with their analysis.

Just this little uptrend can cause the price to start to increase as a lot of people will continue to invest their money as to not miss out from the gain they will make from the uptrend. The market keeps moving up and has moved from yesterday’s $5,245 to $5,265. Some analysts has claimed we will see it reach $5,900 before this month ends.

For this time of seeking a good reason for the price to go upward trend, I guess many good factors had been mentioned here. More coming demands is one of the best factors in order to achieve a possible price growth as well. Furthermore, if there's another best thing to make that faster I think ETF approval is next one to help the price quickly arise as soon as possible. Bakkt launch last year was very popular until it was delayed, people get tired of it but the impact would be good IMO but I don't rely on it anymore unless we see it's main impact.

I like your optimism about SECs approval, you made me think that yeah they'll eventually approve it when everyone, every institution will start talking about bitcoin, crypto's, as in everywhere.

Halving mining reward in 2020 will most likely have an impact on the price. But we should bear in mind that in short-term is only about the psychological effect which will cause FOMO before halving, and in long-term ( +/- 1 year) could be the cause of new bull run (based on 2016 halving).

I like people like Tim Draper, he is focused on long-term predictions (3-4 years), and he was predict back in 2014 that price of 1 bitcoin will hit 10 000$ in next three years, which of course happened. A year ago he announced its next prediction, 250 000$ by 2022/23, and this was very brave from him - number is very big, and viewed from today's perspective does not look very realistic.

But he obviously understands how the system works, and that institutions will accept bitcoin sooner or later, as a means of payment, but also as a store of value. Bitcoin ETF will undoubtedly play a significant role in this process, and I think SEC is just waiting the right moment to make a positive decision.

What is important to understand is that great things do not happen overnight, bitcoin is still very young and new, but it definitely moves in the right direction.

Increased "demand" and increased "purchasing" isn't the real/actual cause behind the increase of the price. There is a reason for which the demand has increased. Now, this reason can be considered as the real reason of the price rise.
Fortunately, bitcoin and other crypto currencies don't need any kind of specific reason for the price to increase. The market is totally unpredictable and we never know what is going to happen. One of the reason of unpredictability is because of price manipulation. If the price starts to sky rocket all of a sudden, then there is a high chance that the price is rising due to the market being manipulated.

The increase was nothing so special, it was bound to happen, the reason why it came as a surprise was because of the time frame, it was so fast that it looked as if there was a force that pushed many people into making these decision at once, the reason why some of us are sure for now is because this increase didn’t come from just 1 or 2 persons to have concluded that they are whales, but came from massive investors.

Although I suspect FOMO, probably one person with big funds causes little big increase and people got scared and started investing, thinking the BULL has come, I invested too the moment I started seeing the speed, I didn’t want to miss out from the bull, so I think FOMO played a very big part in the price increase.

Lol. Just because people are talking about a bull run, doesn't mean it will actually happen. If that was the case, we would have seen a massive bull run last year, because every newbie and self claimed expert was talking about it, but we went down hard instead. If people become overly optimistic, it's more likely that we'll head to the other direction. Dumb money has always been a reliable counter indicator.

Also, good news in a bear market has no relevance with how the bearish sentiment instantly nullifies anything of positive nature. The only news that people are waiting for is an approval of Bakkt or an ETF, everything else related to Bitcoin's fundamentals is not of interest to them because it doesn't affect the price positively in the near term.

I thought there is an Indirect correlations between stock and the crypto currency market performance. When the Federal Reserve decided to paused its interest rates hikes this year. The investors decided to inject again more dollar back in to the stock market and resulted in an upward trajectory, I mean its not only the S & P, even the DOW JONES and NASDAQ also pumps its prices and this happened on Q1. I think the main catalyst for the Bitcoin price to surge will be based on two main events, the halving of LTC, aka LITECOIN which might cause a mini pump in the whole market and also, of course, the reward halving for Bitcoin itself happening next year in 2020. There are other things also that can spur Bitcoin into a nice parabolic bull run and that could be kore legislation being passed in countries that are very pro blockchain technology and Bitcoin and also more usage through the Unbanked Populations as well. Governments aren't directly accepting Bitcoin though. It's just a third party gateway they use to receive fiat after every tax payment.

I think it's actually a bad thing. If you use Bitcoin to pay your taxes with, they are going to be aware of the transaction data and from there can basically follow you through the years, where you trade, what addresses you use for long term storage, etc. It's basically them making it easier to bust you and charge even more because you didn't declare everything they way you should have according to them. It's a trap.

Another reason this isn't a good thing is because of how these coins will be used to temporarily short Bitcoin because they don't sell their coins immediately. They short to cover the risk of the price that might go down.
