A new mobile Lightning Network wallet called "Breeze" has just been released, offering users a seamless experience without having to run a full node or download the entire bitcoin blockchain:

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/breez-wants-make-lightning-network-more-user-friendly/

This mobile wallet is based on the Neutrino protocol. On chain funds can be moved to Breeze via submarine swaps, though not vice versa at this time.

Looks like this is the first wallet to implement the Neutrino protocol and utilizes the NFC feature. I will definitely check it out soon on my Android mobile(Think that the IOS version will be coming out soon).

I have been using Eclair successfully on my mobile and it is great to see more such LN based mobile wallets being released.

I'm just wondering how they will use NFC on IOS, because as far as I know Apple puts restrictions on the NFC chip of their devices...
Also, I think they don't want another competitor for ApplePay, so it won't be easy...

This will probably be the biggest challenge for all this lightning  network apps, finding a way users can use the wallet on IOS devices without a NFC. I am not necessarily a tech fan but I think there could be a few alternatives to NFC such as Bluetooth or Wi-Fi payment. Eventually they will have to develop something since around 25% of smartphones used by people all around the world are based on IOS.

It is very unlikely that I install this wallet. While understanding what they want to offer, a wallet that does not serve on-chain transactions is of no use to me either now or in the near future. I would have to have at least two or three wallets on my smartphone and be sending funds between them while I was going to use them.

Wow. I'm surprised iOS users have these obstacles. I just got an iOS so it sucks to see so many proprietary obstacles, but if there's one thing Lightning developers have it's ingenuity, so they will eventually find workarounds.

It's surprising to know that they could release a wallet with Nfc feature. I have just downloaded it and I think it would be more accessible and easy to use due to its latest feature. If it could be more convenient to use then it would be an advantage and more users would install it for sure.

So you have tried it already or just download it to know how it looks like? If you have tried it, then would you mind to share your experience using this wallet?
I myself do not dare to install a new application in my phone, especially this one is still in beta testing phase which might be contains some bugs. So I will wait for the official release first and wait for some feedback about this wallet.

I'm also thinking about trying out this new wallet, but will wait for the official release too...
And will use an old android phone  (I hope old android software e.g. Kitkat or something around that time) will be enough to run that wallet... and that phone will be used just for this purpose, after starting the phone software from scratch...
I won't play with new software on my everyday gear., who knows...

Ah, it got me thinking, how do you supposed to try a wallet if you're not going fund it?

It's like trying out a Debit card but you don't want to fund your bank account  Roll Eyes
