From the part of the country am from basic and lower level of education are called primary and secondary school. This are the building time and foundation level of any student and is knowledge the get from here they can use to build there next level of education.

I know by now some higher level institution has already started lecturing about cryptocurrency.
But as a teacher by profession am passionate about passing any knowledge I earn to someone else.

Cryptocurrency seems to be something of the future so I would be wise to inculcate it into our young ones(leaders of tomorrow) now so it would not look strange to them.

I don't run the biggest school in my area in fact it's on a low budget. But am trying to find the simplest ways to put out cryptocurrency Knowledge to this kids.

I have laid my hands on some books
*blockchain revolution, the internet of money, cryptoasset, digital gold, and age of cryptocurrency  this books has been very helpful and being here on the forum has giving me a direction.

The system of education in my country is not top notch so this would not be easy to set up but am willing to go the mile.
I  am very open to opinion, advices and newbies would benefit from the advices.

I thought that only our country has worst school building but also other country have this kind of school.

I have my old experienced studying on a school building like this before.

Anyway, I don't think those child can be easily learn crypto but it is good only if you can teach it to high school level.

If that's the state of the school, what about the internet? do all of them know how to use a computer? I think you guys should focus more on the basic technology which is mostly used in this day.

Well, my stance on this is, I don't think it should be a part of any country's basic curriculum. Sure, they could benefit but if we talk about the necessity of it, I don't think it is. Not to mention that even the basics could be hard to take for junior and senior high school students, those below them are out of the question.

I think it should suffice to mention it from time to time. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who has learned things that are outside the curriculum from our teachers/profs.

Well you know I think by the end of 2020! It will already be there being taught alongside the fiat .
I am waiting for the day when it will be written in our books :- there are many forms of currencies or.money :-
Online ( money that we keep in bank )
Cash ( paper money )
Cryptocurrency (  the complicated one 😂)
And then teachers will take turn asking kids about it , they have already made enough history to be taught. Well soon enough it will be there , also at the same time right now there are courses for Bitcoins , cryptocurrencies etc in the market , they are already being taught to the students and we all know that it's very helpful.
It could even provide a stable job for some.
No one knows what wonders it can do , it had immense potential once used in the way it's supposed to be used.

I'm nothing against you OP, and I appreciated your good effort toward humanity, and the bitcoin community in general. Nevertheless, I think you should take a note that this kind of technologies is yet still a brand new and speculative. There are dozens of real-life skill that worth to be taught for than cryptocurrency. Cryptocurrencies being on the curriculum might happen sometime in the future, but not today's.

That image is disturbing, is that a learning classroom or what? It looks sad.
Disturbing? It is the fact that some developed countries education system facilities are undeveloped, even in some areas it even far worse.

I think it's not a good idea. You cannot force someone to learn something, because everyone has their own passion. Something that is forced will never end well.

But telling them about crypto is a good thing. Let them decide whether they are interested or not, and if they are interested, they will find out for themselves.

In-depth knowledge of crypto can be done at the college level, as has been done by several universities by opening blockchain technology major.

@electrobit, a person from my local board, has been lecturing on Bitcoin and Blockchain through itinerant seminars at schools in south America. A couple of his threads on the matter can be seen here:

Logically whatever you teach has to be watered down to the age group, background, technological skills, and access possibilities to perhaps a "hands-on" trial (at least by the teacher).

In my opinion you should teach about what is money and how fiat money is created first before talking about cryptocurrency.
After that you can evoke cryptos, otherwise it's a bit like explaining a solution before exposing the problem it solves.

What country and region are you from exactly? Crypto knowledge, of course, could be useful, but you must be sure that you do not sacrifice other important topics. First of all, you should teach fundamental knowledge that will not become outdated.

I don't think that they need a new curriculum to accommodate cryptocurrency since students already have so many stuff to learn. Yes, they need education about money, but they can do it outside the formal school system.

IMO, what will happen is that people will naturally know about cryptocurrency just like with social media and internet.

Current primary and secondary school curricula dont even teach you how the current financial system built on dept is working. If they would, students would want to learn about cryptos by themself immediatly Wink
But I am with you, schools should definitly start teaching about emerging technologies, but thats definitly not something for a primary school curriculum!

I'm nothing against integrating the basics of cryptocurrency and financial system in education, but as early as primary and secondary levels? I don't think so. It's better to just teach them the basics of respecting each other with their indifferences and raise them with virtues rather than expose them on things that could corrupt them along the way. In Japan, the reason that that country is so orderly and so progressive is because of the discipline, respect and virtues instilled into their people during the primary school. Teaching kids about financial systems and disruptive tech won't amount to anything given their limited understanding of the matter.

Thanks everyone for you contribution but the aim is not to impose it on my students but to make it a optional subject that I would handle myself. I would reach there parent or benefactors and try to rub minds with them and if the answer is yes then we could softly introduce it to them. For starters there alphabetic letter recitation would be made up of top crypto coin matching the letters.

I think you are thinking too much. Children do not need too much of "book" knowledge instead they need a environment where they can speak up their mind and develop a understanding to make decision between right and wrong.

You can teach them about finance because I find many adults that are very poor in managing their finances while in theory it is very simple that you have spend less than you earn.  No idea, if crypto remain legal or not till they reach earning age but knowledge of managing finance will always help them.

Don't think it is necessary for cryptocurrencies to be part of the education curriculum. We are on a Bitcoin forum so, naturally, most of us at least think that Bitcoin has some value. But if we were to step outside of this bubble, doubt this is a commonly held belief. Personally, based on interactions with many "outsiders", they think Bitcoin is just a scam, a fad, a technology that "sounds good but would never off" and filled with people with a get rich quick mentality. And some of these outsiders are not just random folks with an opinion, they come from tech investing fields in finance or are CEOs of Fintech companies.

This article has came up a few times in discussions with Bitcoin haters:
http://www.mrmoneymustache.com/2018/01/02/why-bitcoin-is-stupid/

Not going to debate the points mentioned within the post but just wanted to highlight how controversial a topic like Bitcoin can be. Seems like the best thing to do is not reveal you even know anything about Bitcoin.

Also, on a more cynical note, what incentive is there for governments to include crypto in their education system. One of the main uses for crypto at present is to replace fiat. Don't see why they would be so enthusiastic about it. Even forward-thinking governments like Singapore have come forward and stated that Bitcoin isn't legal tender.

Point is: Outside of this forum, there are many Bitcoin haters + tech hasn't reach the level where govs are forced to adopt it. So naturally won't be part of education system.

I do not know how the education system works in your country, but in my country the teacher can teach a subject for several semesters so it is better to start defining money for children. "Many governments have been able to distance the link between gold and fiat money," and then explain what cryptocurrencies of the classes are closest to the university.

It is better to teach crypto for university students where they have a concept about money and how to better collect it from elementary students.

I will really love the read the books most especially the age of crypto, we can under estimate the power of education in any sector and as simple as blockchain/ cryptocurrency have been made we still need to be knowledgeable about the whole system and how it works. Am looking forward to when courses that are crypto/blockchain will be enriched into our educational system.

Anyway, I don't think those child can be easily learn crypto but it is good only if you can teach it to high school level.
That's what I would suggest, too. High school students can digest the information better compared to children in primary schools. Personally, I can't remember our lessons well when I was in elementary. And if cryptocurrency will be taught to them at a very young age, I'm afraid that they might forget it as time goes by. And we know children. They value playing more than anything and in particular, studying.

So I think it would be much better to relay the information to students in highschool level. These students already have the ability to give sensible feedbacks. But it doesn't have to be a major subject. Workshop or seminars will do since the primary purpose is to inculcate in them what this generation has to offer. In addition, I think it would be better to also provide their parents and teachers such information for better understanding, as well.

It would sure not be a bad idea to include cryptocurrency into your curriculum. Well I think that would be hard considering that that should be done by the ministry of education. But I think you can find a way round it still polishing them on the topic

Why? I think that'll add more workload. On top of that, it's very easy to learn about crypto (just for the general stuff) through the internet. If they want to contribute on development then that means they'll need to learn about coding, algorithm and so on, and there's a university for that.

Tbh crypto knowledge is easy to access, and there's no need for test / passing grade to judge whether you're an expert on crypto or not. It's basically teaching yourself on how to manage your money, how to keep it safe, where to spend or use them etc. 7 days is enough to learn about the gist of it.
