Ive been a steemit user and can say it is simply the best in terms of social blockchain application. Steemit rewards are good and perspectively put into good used. Ive heard Akasha project but does that project already launch? I heard they are still on their beta phase? It's also the project Ive been watching since their team are all well experienced in the field of crypto and coding. These alone can be a monster project based on that reason.

Akasha is still a work in progress, even after a few years since it's been announced. This is bad, since other competitors (like Steem) will be able to stay one step ahead of the game. If Akasha wants to attract people into its platform, it would need to deliver something innovative not available in already established decentralized social network platforms. Otherwise, Steem (Steemit) will remain as the top decentralized social network based on Blockchain tech.

Last time I've heard, a new decentralized social network emerged called Yours which lets users pay in BCH for content. There may be other alternatives lurking around which are out of my knowledge, but so far, Steemit has the biggest user base on all the Blockchain space.

Nonetheless, both Steemit and Akasha seem to be the best decentralized social networks using Blockchain technology. There's another decentralized social network called Diaspora, but it doesn't rely on Blockchain technology. Still, it's better than using Facebook or any other centralized social network. Just my thoughts Grin

It seems to me that this is Forecasting, I heard a lot of positive things about this project, but I can’t use it yet, I also heard about Sapien Network, I think that this project will be even better.

Thanks for sharing this, mate. These new decentralized social network projects seem to have great potential. But their user base is not as big as Steemit, given that they're not well-known in the crypto space. Most recently, I've stumbled across a new project called Mithril which aims to be exactly as Steem but using the Ethereum blockchain instead. In the same way Steem rewards you by hodling (or rather delegating) your Steem Power, Mithril rewards you by staking the MITH tokens on your wallet.

So far, Mithril seems to be as close to Steemit delivering a quality social media platform that's decentralized and reliant on Blockchain technology. There's also another social network named "Memo" based on Bitcoin Cash's blockchain network. Given how many alternatives have emerged lately, the competition is getting fierce. But their success will largely depend on whenever people adopt them at a large scale or not.

Nonetheless, decentralized social networks based on Blockchain tech seem to be a great idea, but people are still relying on centralized platforms (like Facebook and Twitter) today. Only time will tell us if people will make the switch towards the decentralized world, as their personal data becomes threatened by centralized entities. Just my thoughts Grin

I think karma is good decentralize social network, karma be built on EOS blockchain technology, the karma system is like steemit and the interface is like facebook and other social media, but we can do stakes karma token to getting other karma token it is like mining cryptocurrencies, i think it is interesting for all of community which want know other decentralize social network based on the blockchain technology and here is the website of karma social network https://www.karmaapp.io

Thanks for sharing this, mate. Smart contract blockchains like Ethereum and EOS, shows that it's widely possible to build a decentralized social network for the whole world to enjoy. As for me, I wasn't aware that a decentralized social network like this, existed in the EOS blockchain. But, it's good to know about it, since it proves to be a viable alternative against Steem, Akasha, and other decentralized social networks based on Blockchain tech.

I believe that only those that can prove to be useful for the mainstream world will prevail in the end. As such, this leaves me with Steem, Akasha, and Karma as one of the best decentralized social networks based on Blockchain technology today. There's so much to learn, in this ever-growing world of crypto. Hopefully, new alternatives would emerge over time that will greatly rival the existence of centralized social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

I like you have made thread which are talking about the decentralize social network based on blockchain technology because we are part of its technology although it will be different platform are EOS, ethereum and another blockchain technology. The most important we are in era of decentralize it is important thing to be known by all of community cryptocurrencies, today is our time to apply decentralize application dapps on daily real of life, we can use decentralize social network, market decentralize, games decentralize, gambling decentralize and any other. We are in new era of blockchain technology and the people must know about it.

Which social network platform based on Blockchain technology do you think is the best? Will it be Steem or the Akasha platform?

With growing concerns about Facebook's privacy measures, it seems that people are looking for other alternatives which are capable of protecting their personal data better. So far, Steem is the pioneer in the decentralized social media space, and it has attracted thousands of people worldwide. However, it's still far from behind as centralized social networks like Facebook and Twitter are in the lead.

Nonetheless, what are your thoughts about this? Any recommendations or suggestions related to said decentralized social networks will be highly appreciated. Also, I would appreciate if you could let me know of other new alternative social networks (apart from Steem and Akasha) that make use of Blockchain technology. Smiley

Unfortunately, none of them have been great. Steemit has turned very sluggish these days. Part of the reason why Facebook has been so successful is that their user interface has been swift - content loads super fast. I guess then the prime requirement for any decentralized social network is that the underlying blockchain that is built upon can scale and support a very large userbase without slowing it down.

Another huge aspect when it comes to decentralized social networks is content curation and removal of objectionable content. This is where it gets tricky - For Facebook, this is easy, they have a set terms & conditions that follow suit with the legal jurisdiction of operation which allows them to use a task force for moderation. How do you enforce such a thing in a decentralized network?

I suppose the solution will be to use Artificial Intelligence-based system that enables something like a liquid democracy to formulate a set of rules that govern the network and ultimately make decisions that is in accordance with these rules. DFINITY is attempting something like this through their Blockchain Nervous System - Think of this as voting based, decentralized decision-making system that grows more intelligent and learns to make better decisions over time. I think something like a BNS would be needed for any social network that needs to be "decentralized" in the true sense of the word. I mean a social network wouldn't be a decentralized network if a small number of people can hold a meeting and change the governing rules overnight.

Steem is absolutely leading the blockchain based social network project in term of their user and daily activity. But there are also some emerging project like Sapien, and also Indorse. I believe there will be many blockchain-based social network project in the future. I just hope there will be a project that is stand out and have something different compared to former project. Not just a rip-off or even just the same project with different name.

There are:
Steemit https://steemit.com/
Minds https://www.minds.com/.. Zappl (twitter-like powered rewrite by steem)
Mithril https://mith.io/
Steepshot https://steepshot.io/
DSound https://dsound.audio/
Trybe https://trybe.one/
DecenTwitter https://decentwitter.com/

I can't tell which one of them  is the best though. But it's possible that steemit is the most popular.

My only problem with steemit is it not being  mobile friendly and the annoying display of earnings below posts. The displayed earnings are very distracting. This is one of the reasons I stopped using the platform.

By far the foremost widespread blockchain-powered social platform among cryptocurrency enthusiasts is Steemit. it's been around awhile  time currently, and it makes it simple for content creators to create cash by contributing valuable and interesting content to the platform. though this idea might not essentially build individuals rich overnight, it's not uncommon for contributors to earn $100 per valuable post on the platform.

Steemit allows for a new wave of content creators who previously faced roadblocks such as lack of paying opportunities and jobs to come to fruition. Anyone, across the world, can have access to the platform and can get paid for what content they put on the site.

So i think it's the best decentralized social platform out there

Decentralized social network platforms are gaining popularity but it is very difficult and far away to have bigger impact as majority of people stick to the existing well known centralized ones.
The reason is: they  have got used to them mand most of their friends are there.
It is difficult to change people`s habit even if they get better service.

Well, no system is perfect. While the concept of a decentralized social network based on Blockchain tech seems to work as intended, it still has some inherent issues that need to be fixed. Such issues are mostly related to mainstream acceptance and ease of use, as people find it complicated to join this new trend. Centralized social networks have been dominant for quite some time now (and will always be), unless people become very concerned about their privacy.

As for DFINITY, it seems to have a nice approach towards delivering a decentralized social network that's capable of enforcing a specific set of rules. If successful, it can become a force to be reckoned with as it rivals traditional social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Still though, the hard truth is that centralized social networks are dominating the mainstream world because of their ease of use and extreme popularity.

Things aside, AKASHA seems to be releasing a stable version of its platform soon. This one is going to be much more exciting than Steem, as it will live within the Ethereum blockchain. Considering that Ethereum is the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, it could allow the AKASHA platform to gain some traction over the long term.

Nonetheless, my best picks for decentralized social networks based on Blockchain tech are Steem, Mithril, and AKASHA. Wink

Thanks for sharing this, mate. It seems that the number of decentralized social networks relying on Blockchain tech, is growing every day. The more people seek out for alternative ways to communicate, the better, as Blockchain-based social networks could gain traction in the mainstream world. There needs to be a lot of exposure in the outside world for this to work. Otherwise, people will have no reason in joining other alternatives when they already have Facebook.

Nonetheless, time will tell us whenever this concept will succeed in the future or not. Just my opinion Smiley

Steemit claims to be a dapp on steem blockchain. But the company has a wide control over the contents and accounts and at some point multiple users were hacked and steem tokens stolen. Whatever way they may be on blockchain, they are not satisfying anything people could aspect from a blockchain based social network.

Honestly, putting up my accounts on facebook doesn't really makes me feel good about it. Though, we need to secure our accounts, we still need to put it on cloud if there's no way we can store it on a tangible paper for the QR code that we can easily scan anytime. But for now, I think facebook is not really a threat when we talk about crypto.

I read Friendster is already pushing into decentralization too. They have even partnered with one of Tron's leading SR called Beatzcoin. Well, I think these 2 would disrupt the digital and media industry.

Hmm, no wonder Facebook is rushing to introduce their own coin, If Facebook is not careful, some of the new social network might push them aside using the blockchain technology, with blockchain technology developed on decentralized system, many people will rely more on it because of they will have direct control over their own account and be able to control their own information.

I can see that steemit and sapiens are already becoming more popular than Facebook; people would have seen the benefit of joining a platform running on full blockchain than the one not running on it.

Steemit claims to be a dapp on steem blockchain. But the company has a wide control over the contents and accounts and at some point multiple users were hacked and steem tokens stolen. Whatever way they may be on blockchain, they are not satisfying anything people could aspect from a blockchain based social network.

According to Steemit, they claim that text-based content, votes, and STEEM's tokens are stored on the STEEM blockchain while images are obtained from third-party sites. They expect to move image content to IPFS soon, which will make everything depend on the Blockchain. I've checked the official STEEM blockchain explorer known as steemd, and I can see text-based content from posts made on Steemit.

Compared to other Blockchains, Steem is partially centralized because it depends on DPoS for consensus where only a select few delegates maintain the Blockchain (mostly whales). Still though, it's the best thing around these days. On the hand, the AKASHA platform is nearing release and it's going to be a completely decentralized social network that will depend on the Ethereum blockchain for everything.

There's another decentralized social network based on Blockchain technology named Memo.cash which relies on the BCH blockchain to obtain messages from it. Users can easily store their messages on-chain, without the need for a centralized database (which constitutes a single point of failure). Despite the number of decentralized blockchain-based social networks available, the space is still not mature enough to handle real-life situations. User experience, and ease-of-use are key elements for these platforms to survive in a highly competitive market.

Therefore, it may take a long time before Steemit, AKASHA, or any other platform would take down centralized alternatives anytime soon. Just my thoughts Grin
