It seems to me that there was no reason to change the title of a thread like this that had been running for more than 5 years and had "buy the dip in the title" from the start.

I personally believe that "buy the dip" is not as good of a technique as DCA (especially for beginners), but buy the dip is still both a valid talking point, a valid practice, it can be especially employed during situations of lump sum buying and front-loading of an investment, and buy the dip is something that a lot of those in their BTC accumulating stages will weigh and question what they should be doing and whether or not to wait for dips before buying.. and in the last two weeks, there surely has been some decently sized dips that could be taken advantage of.. even though none of us are really going to know how deep the dips are going to go or how long the dips are going to end up lasting.

The original title was "Buy EVERY DIP, and HODL". That was during 2019 when it was absolutely obvious that it was safe to buy all DIPs with everything that you had - leave just enough money in the bank account for bill payments of course. I changed it to "Buy the DIP, and HODL" - because DIPs were not the 2019 DIPs, then to simply "Buy Bitcoin, and HODL" because I was convinced by you, and other posters, that DCA is a good buying strategy to have mixed in with buy the DIP.

Plus it's merely a title, it's not that important compared to the things we learn from each other in the topic.

I stick with my original comments.  I see no reason to change the title...... at least taking out the buy the dip part of it, since that is a contrasting idea.  Your earliest edition was merely buy the dip, and then you added HODL. later.. yet I also don't see much difference between buy the dip and buy every dip.. and the inclusion of the idea of HODL .. does not interfere with the overall sentiment, since there surely can be reasons to just reverting to HODL (which is don't sell, and maybe even don't buy more since you are running out of money).. so sometimes HODL does come into play whether we are talking about the BTC price going up or down or sideways, there can be various reasons for HODL to be triggered... including sometimes loss of confidence during extended sideways periods.

Also, even though DCA has been talked about a lot in this thread and also lump sum versus DCA, I don't consider those to be conflicting ideas or even needing to be stated in the thread topic, which you had already gotten correct with your wanting to push the idea of buying the dip.. especially in the beginning, and there is nothing wrong with having that idea continue to be contained in the motivation of the topic since so many folks are still going to be weighing what they should do.. should they buy BTC right now or should they buy on the dip (that may or may not end up happening)...  

You surely have argued quite convincingly in the past that there still could end up being times when buying the dip may well be better than DCA'ing, even though I continue to argue that buying the dip mostly becomes better when someone has already accumulated a decent amount of BTC (whether that be through lump sum, front-loading or just having a decent amount of time already in the market in which they might have accumulated a decent amount of BTC stash or even be in a position of over-accumulation compared to the rest of their finances and/or psychology).

I'm so happy you changed the topic back to what it was before this thread will be more interesting and impactful especially to we the newbies, it was through the thread a lot of people choosed the strategy they are using in there Bitcoin accumulation and I believe without the DIP in this topic those discussion of different strategy won't come up.

Yes it's commendable to continue with this title as it has created several awareness and has made it way if popularity in the forum and in the mind of investor and newbies I puzzle the first time I enter the forum after the renamed if the thread, it's by wisdom and regular participating of the forum made me understand it's actually the thread just as many has outline which I may not repeat allot of similar thread exist in forum which may contradict a newbie who is not too familiar in navigating the forum when several thread of similarities exist and Even been changed without any notice to the users, I said thank for the return of the formal name.

Is good you change it to the previous title because is not just a title it represents a lot in our investment mindset because in as much as I accumulate on weekly bases but whenever I visit this thread only the name alone becomes a motivation to me because it keeps reminding me how important and consistent I need to be on my accumulation of Bitcoin to enable me have a sufficient amount of Bitcoin in the future which is the reason why I said this thread or rather title represent a lot in most people investment, perhaps that sometimes a title may not actually mean anything to most people but for some persons it means so much for them.

I was a bit confused when I want to check the buy the dip and hold thread, I discovered that the original name has changed, it took me some time to confirm that it's the actual thread. Sometimes before people should do something they should consider the effect of such before doing it. Apart from being confused of the original thread, the other one is that it can be misleeding by changing the content of the thread even if it looks almost thesame, but it can still be misleeding expecially when most places has the coment buy the dip and checking some place buy every dip and so on. I am also using this medium as a plead to wind fury that this thread has gone so far to be tampered with otherwise it will make people confused from the intended meaning which has started some months or years back. You are right @Samlucky O, continuous change of the heading in the OP wasn't necessary at all but however, sometimes a thread can be moving away from it's original contents in the OP or from the topic of discussion then the OP can decide to change the topic as times goes depending if users making replies are starting to digress from the initial topic of the OP but in this regard, the numerous editing of the OP are all in line with the discussions in this thread even though it wasn't necessary, hence there is no cause for an alam inasmuch as our discussions here is not deviated from each changes made by the Original poster therefore i move the motion that the debate of OP changing the topic of discussion should be put to an abrupt end so that it doesn't distract people from making further discussions on the purpose in which this thread was created. My humble opinion

That your motion should not be granted and that motion should be put one side. Yes the Op created the thread and no one is disputing that fact, but don't forget that the thread was created for the public and because of that the community has a say when they feel that something is going in the direction that they don't like. If this thread remain the way it is and the people are losing interest in it do you think it will benefit anyone? The leaders of every organization, be it private or public are there to serve their community, if they bring any policy that the people think is not okay with them they will voice out their concerns and seek for redress. It is very obvious that majority of the active users of this thread are kicking against the change of name of the thread.

The Op has to look at the complaints of the users and act accordingly, provided that what the people are asking for doesn't go against the rules of the forum or goes against the principles of bitcoin investment. We just want to have a sense of belonging where our voices are heard. Even bitcoin belong to the masses and the masses use it the way they want, let us not feel as if we are in a centralized system were the leaders can just do things on their own without considering the feedback from their community.

I actually don't know what the problem is with the change to be frank. It's merely a title. But because many people in the topic wanted the title before "Buy Bitcoin, and HODL", then I could change it back as easily as I changed it before. It's not as important as some of the more informative posts made by many of you in this topic. I truly hope many of you are HODLing, and will have enough Bitcoin savings for the rest of your lives once Bitcoin surges to six digits.

Your opinion is valid, this thread have been a lot of help to lots of people on this forum not just newbies but also bitcoin enthusiasts benefit from the discussion held here. Accumulating bitcoin is not really very easy for people anymore especially since it price has increased over the years so alot of strategies have been into play and has helped people in their journey, buying the dip played it part well and now it will be even more helpful if other accumulation strategy are being discussed too as no accumulation strategy can be written off.

I actually don't know what the problem is with the change to be frank. It's merely a title. A while ago i saw “Buy Bitcoin and HODL!” and just now i am reading a different title. You are right it’s merely a title and whichever one you name it will not stop the discussion and the aim of the post, the most important thing is to keep accumulating and HODLing for as long as possible so nothing changed. Initially, I supported Wind_FURY when he changed the name of this thread from buy the dip and hodl to buy bitcoin and hodl because it got to a point where some people were mostly concerned about buying the dip, even when they didn't have enough money to buy the dip, which could make some newbies think it is better to accumulate bitcoin in a dip. But as time went on, I noticed the conversation in this thread had reduced since the name of the thread was changed. The discussion of buying the dip contributed a lot to the growth of this thread and the knowledge that was shared in this thread. A lot of people have gained knowledge and know the strategy to apply in some situations to seize the opportunity if a dip happens. I agree with you that the name of this thread should be changed to buy the dip and hodl if it's possible.

I feel you guys are reading much meaning into what doesn't matter, for those who has been engaging in this thread will have the basic knowledge on what the thread is talking about, we have been on the discussion about Bitcoin accumulation and we have induced some approaches like DCAing, Buying the Dip, when to lump sum and many more patterns. It's a general thread discussion all on how to accumulate Bitcoin easier, faster and more convenient, so using just one approach as the topic thread is not appropriate whereas other methods are still discussed in it. In everything we do, our primary goal for the thread is all about to Buy Bitcoin, and Hold.

Buy Bitcoin and HODL It's like having a well rounded discussion that covers various strategies in purchasing bitcoin, not just focusing on one. Different perspectives and approaches can enrich the conversation and help everyone learn more about Bitcoin accumulation. Buy The DIP and HODL refers to a strategy in particular and in this thread other strategies like DCA are often mentioned. Me I really don't see anything wrong with the change of the topic and I don't think it will affect our discussion in any form is just a topic and the new one is also good for discussion it covers all necessary area of Bitcoin discussion, a lot of you that are concerned that it should be changed back what is really your point is it that the topic change will affect our discussion or what I still don't understand.

Bitcoin has a lot of strategy including all what you mentioned, I find it difficult understanding your actual point but it seems you’re trying to say the title should not be a problem or since bitcoin accumulation has a lot of approach changing the topic title is also not a problem but I disagree. Well, I have not been so active here in the thread but that’s not the problem or anything related with the topic. When I first found this thread, I started engaging in different kinds of discussion and what I learnt from here is far important than what any social bitcoin influencer will give online concerning bitcoin accumulation, meaning if we should start following each approach with different title always which is not right. The real fact is maintaining a better standard here with good context, for example Buy the Dip and hold doesn’t mean we’re referring to only buying the dip because they’re other strategies discussed here. My only problem is, it’s difficult understanding the replies with the topic title because I went through some comments and I found some title is different from the main title with different quote. Since the thread title (buy the dip and hold) has been for long it’s best the title remain same, there’s no actual need for  argument tho.

It's a mere title as we can say, but there is much to it, the knowledge it has impacted too many, for everyone to learn how to buy the dip and hodl!

I can't be thankless for the kind of knowledge of bitcoin investment I have nurtured in me since I came into contact with the discussion thread of "buy the dip and hodl!''

I want to use the opportunity to openly thank you for creating this wonderful post thread, allowing open discussion for everyone to learn and share their viewpoint on the subject matter.

Having said that, I am not forgetting to thank JayJuanGee for his undiluted contribution and knowledge breakdown of what someone should know about buy the dip and hodl. He rocks with the knowledge of bitcoin, making the majority of the forum members always stick to his analysis of the crypto market, by way of sticking to bitcoin alone not on shitcoins as he always classified altcoins.

Even if you reluctantly changed it back, I am glad that you did it.... and as I already mentioned, it seems better to stick with the original title, even if your personal thoughts have evolved on the topic.

As far as other members go?  Yep. it seems that more and more members participating in this thread see the value of DCA.. especially when they are beginners who are in the earlier of stages of building their BTC stash.. ... and so many times, there are going to be thoughts about whether buying the dip is a good idea or even whether any money should be kept on the side for buying the dip rather than buying right away, and surely there are tradeoffs in regards to those kinds of decisions. 

The answer of what to do is not completely clear but likely is somewhat personally dependent on a variety of individual considerations, even though guys are going to continue to bat around the ideas of whether to hold money aside for buying on dip  or to buy right away and  even employ various compromise methods that attempt to balance their considerations and hold some value in each category.

Surely the discussion, the disagreements and the batting around of ideas about whether it might be better to buy right away or hold some value back for buying on dips has been done in the last 5 years of this thread - and who is going to go back and read 5 years worth of posts in order to figure out what they might want to do at the time that they are considering posting in this thread, when either new guys or returning guys are going to want to discuss the ideas within the context of what is happening at the time of their post and not necessarily within a historical context - so in that sense, the topic of buying on dip versus other BTC accumulation strategies remains live, even if the answer might still sometimes end up coming out similar as it had come out earlier - which is for guys to focus on getting their own finances/psychology in order so that whatever BTC accumulation techniques they employ to their own finances is largely tailored to their own personal financial and psychological circumstances rather than concluding that there is only one answer... even though some approaches might end up paying off better than others.. as we also have historically argued about those kinds of ideas in this thread.

JoyMarshal you should always use the right word Bitcoin investment and not crypto because it is how to invest in bitcoin and grow your bitcoin investment with the three accumulating strategies that we are discussing here. If you use the word crypto it will mislead the newbies who are here to learn and they might get confused on which coin that you are talking about because cryptocurrency means bitcoin and the rest shitcoins.

Hopefully, neither I nor anyone else in this thread is talking about some kind of vague phenomena, such as "crypto," since without some kind of a more specific reference, I don't even know what that is, unless there is some kind of a reference.. so frequently, I am going to suggest to use the word bitcoin if that is what you are talking about.  Is there any need to use the term "crypto" if you are trying to refer to something related to bitcoin, unless you are trying to cause confusion, misleading people with vagueness, or just talking gobble-dee-gook, and there is no need to try to sound smart by using some term that supposedly captures some kind of a broader phenomena, when there is no such thing that exists.. yeah, people use such nonsense terms like crypto and maybe they are even smart people, but do we know what they are talking about and wouldn't it be better if they were to specify about what they were talking about and how that might relate to bitcoin or even within this thread to relate to the topic of this thread, which is bitcoin.

So, yeah there may well be things that are going on in the shitcoin space that might cause us to want to be aware of various shitcoins, yet hopefully we are mostly focusing on bitcoin in terms of our use of various long term investment and accumulation strategies.. since in the shitcoin space (which might be what you are referring to when you use the term "crypto"?).. .may well have some other considerations, and it may be a lot more difficult to justify long term HODLing and/or accumulation techniques when it comes to shitcoins, and even if you might have some ideas on such coins .. they are not part of this discussion, since if we were to get into discussions of which shitcoins are less shitty, then when are we going to stop? 

At least in terms of the discussion of this particular thread, it seems better to either just say no to any discussion of any shitcoins, unless there is some point that relates to bitcoin or to just dismiss all of the shitcoins in a denigrating way.. which also may or may not be necessary, but sometimes, might be helpful in terms of keeping our discussion and focus on bitcoin.. and since we already have enough areas of discussion, just talking about bitcoin, so why waste our time, monies or energies getting at all involved in shitcoin considerations (which is another way of saying "crypto"), especially in this thread.

Surely, you are saying something similar to me, Ruttoshi - but of course, you said it first... .. and just in regards to your last paragraph, you seem to be referring to affinity scams.. so yeah, a very large majority of shitcoins are affinity scams, which largely means that they play off of the name and the ideas of bitcoin and try to appear similar to bitcoin or even better than bitcoin in order to attract investment into them..

I'm so happy you changed the topic back to what it was before this thread will be more interesting and impactful especially to we the newbies, it was through the thread a lot of people choosed the strategy they are using in there Bitcoin accumulation and I believe without the DIP in this topic those discussion of different strategy won't come up.
I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who has been participating very well in this thread and a special thanks to you Wind_FURY for creating such a wonderful topic has changed a lot of negative mindset and helped especially we the newbies and I will also love to thank JayJuanGee for all his wonderful contributions to this thread a lot of use the newbies always enjoy reading your write up it is so impactful.

I actually don't know what the problem is with the change to be frank. It's merely a title. But because many people in the topic wanted the title before "Buy Bitcoin, and HODL", then I could change it back as easily as I changed it before. It's not as important as some of the more informative posts made by many of you in this topic. I truly hope many of you are HODLing, and will have enough Bitcoin savings for the rest of your lives once Bitcoin surges to six digits.

I think the title change is not an issue. Because there meaning is the same. One can easily guess from the title what topic is being discussed here. The one you changed and the current tile both are good. So there seems to be no dispute about our title. There has been and continues to be a huge debate about what benefits we can get from buying and holding Bitcoin for the long term and why we should hold Bitcoin. But the current title is so well known in the forum that JJG's contribution comes first when you look there. Everyone knows in the forum JJG's importance in Bitcoin holdings. I think if a forum has a better title and topic it would be this one. After all whatever purpose we hold Bitcoin, if we can hold it for the long term, it will definitely go towards fulfilling that dream.

Focusing on bitcoin discussion there is no crypto discussion it is in another thread, we know beginners if we often say crypto they will choose other coins instead of bitcoin but here we learn a lot about interesting discussions even I always read and see how other people's strategies.

Even if I hold bitcoin for the next 20 years, I will not hesitate because it is clear that the potential of bitcoin is greater than other shitcoins, sorry to talk about crypto but this time I know bitcoin as a good investment for the future and will continue to accumulate it.

You're right here. Sometimes i jump into here to continue conversations with my good forks regarding my investment, but i don't get to feel the connection anymore just like i did previously. I dont know if it is just me but i hardly come here because the conversations and dialogue seem to be going in a different direction which is unlike what i need to knw.

Ser JJG, I have a question for you and your valued opinion is truly needed.

There's a project called "Bamk" that utilizes the Runes protocol on top of Bitcoin to build a Synthetic Dollar - a stablecoin. Everything will be onchain, and it could be traded without the need to deposit your Bitcoins to a centralized party, like exchanges.

What are your opinions on such a project? Is it good, or bad, or neutral?
