In my place, you can gamble on the wake which is normal and a form of sympathy. I was young that time and my dad was playing on the other table called "Mahjong", my Mom was playing "Bingo", and I'm playing card game (Tong-its) that time and it looks like my whole family are playing and aiming to win some money

When I grew up, gambling becomes our source of happiness but suddenly becomes our worst enemy because honestly my parents got separated because of gambling and until now they blame the addiction of my dad. I'm old enough now to realize that was a biggest mistake of my family, to let that addiction ruin our family. I promise to myself not to be like my dad, I will not expose my kids into gambling.

Actually gambling with parents is not bad idea as long as the main purpose is to have some fun together. The mistake that happened in your family is the addiction, actually you have the right to control your father if you know that he is doing more than what he should do. Sorry to hear about your story of your parents got separated because of the addiction although actually it should not happen as your family should have better ways to solve the problem instead of decided to break the relationship.
To be honest, my father was a gambler as well and I knew gambling from him but I do not want the same thing happen to my kids. They may learn by themselves but I wont show to them that I'm a gambler.

Gambling is surely not good to do within the family and as you mentioned it is the main reason of the divorce of your parents, further proofs it.
Every day I hear some bad experiences of gambling like losing money and now the families are broken because of the addiction of gambling.

Gambling is illegal in my country. On top of that, in a country where Muslims is the majority, gambling isn't really a thing here. In fact, it is frowned upon by the community. So, no, never done gambling with family, or even (real life) friends in my life.

I've been occasionally gambling for years, from sports betting, dice, poker, you name it. But I'm fully aware that I'm doing it for fun. I never expect to gain any profit from gambling. So I don't think I need to keep myself away from gambling. Even if I had a child later in my life I wouldn't prohibit them from gambling. I will teach them what gambling is instead. Education instead of prohibition is the way to go. They need to have the same frame as I do to keep them from getting addicted to gambling. Sorry to hear about your family too.

My father is a gambler but he does no influence me doing so, I admire his discipline because I never saw he have some kind of gambling addiction.
Now I am also gambling but with sports betting, my father gamble with cock fighting but I'm not fan of it.

I would never consider doing something like that. I am a grown man and my parents are old fashioned. They believe in hard and honest work and have never seen the inside of a casino. I have always tried to keep gambling away from them. I like to bet on sports occasionally and out of respect for them I didn't even leave the betting slips in visible places because I know what they think about it.

Gambling runs the risk of serious addiction and promoting gambling to kids is just a very bad idea. There are so many great family table top games to choose from. Some people might argue that poker promotes critical thinking and math skills but I would disagree as it's as addictive as any other betting game.

It is a no go for me, my parents are strict, even though I am a married man now still they watch me most of the time. Picturing it out gambling would them gives me goosebumps. They are religious people and never had a chance to gamble even once in their life. When we were still kids we used to play cards at home and when we got caught by them they punish us with sticks.

Sorry if it was a bit insensitive but I don't think it could have ended any better. Sure I don't criticize gambling but bringing up your kids with it is like pasing down alcoholism, smoking and unhealthy diet - they start to see it as normal part of life rather than something to indulge only occasionally.

You've already seen what happened to your family, don't repeat it.

I don't call it a gamble but only a fun game for having a little bonding time with my parents. We bet for household chores and not with real money. This way we can enjoy the game without having to think about losing money since we are a family.

I never gamble with my family, and I don't think that they know that I am playing gambling so far. I never tell them if I am playing gambling, they only know that I used internet activity to work and make money.

So you have a bad experience to see your parents gamble in the younger ages and now you realize that it could give bad things to your kids. That means you are more careful than your parents before and you don't want to see your kids be the same as you. That is a great thing that you can realize the bad things that will happen if the kids saw their parents gamble.

I will keep my kids and myself to stay away from gambling. At least if I want to gamble, I gamble without anybody knows even my kids.

You are from the Philippines, right? So, I think there is no one here who wants to destroy their family because of gambling. I play tong it's with my mother, and she is the one who teaches me that kind of gambling game back when I was 8 or 9. Now I am 28 and I know that my mother thought me not the right game for my age. LOL. She just wanted to play even inside our house with me, so she teaches me even if I am still young, we got addicted but we manage to control that and stop that addiction, we just only play occasionally

Well, gambling with family is fun. It only depends from person to person if this will lead to a bad habit or if parents will not guide their kids properly. Even without a family of gamblers there are people who are addicted in gambling. Learn from your family's mistake, take note that gambling is not bad as it is intended as a source of entertainment.

Dont have nerves to gamble with parents, leave to gamble with parents i dont even have nerve to gamble infront of parents. In my society gambling is regarded as evil and those who preaches or make money with it as regarded as low.
Previously i had a bad habbit of gambling but now it seems to be little numb now as it has been 4 months since i have gambled a major money

If for my kids, maybe in future i wouldn't let them play gamble because risk that come from it is bigger. Grow from family that know gambling, my dad like to buy number and then never win. I think he only waste money on there.

Gambling together with family isnt bad as long your father and mother do know the limitation because if you make these things to be your primary hobby then expect on what would be the outcome in the end
which is losing financial because no one would able to sustain with gambling for too long.You might say you have won a particular time but you will still end up on losing them since you are continuing to play.
Its good that you do realize and have opened your eyes on what gambling can possibly done on ones family.

I know all the games you’ve mentioned since i use to play all of them aside from Mahjong in which i never come to learn

My kids are aware of what gambling bring their life and i am keep educating them that stay away from this and just find other fun activities

Too much of everything is is always bad, yes it OK to play gambling games with my kids but it will only end at the level of cashing fun and will.not let it get in the way of my personal responsibilities to my family. Extreme gambling habit is very bad.
