I've been mining with a small set of block erupters (the 333mh/s one) and that's simply not cutting it anymore (8 erupters @333mh/s is only bringing in ~2.5gh/s). So, it's time for me to make an upgrade, but I've got a limited budget to do so. Sadly, it's only $50 as I'm allocating money to a different project. I understand this isn't very good, but I've already got a fan, hub, and computer dedicated to doing tasks like running the software.

So, my question is, is the time it takes to raise the money to purchase another U2 worth the cost of purchasing the first U2 and building up a new rig?
If not, what's the best thing to do? Should I start trading, or mining an alt coin, or just get out of the btc field?

My plan is to slowly replace my block erupters with U2's, using only money gained from mining, using an initial investment of $50. My skepticism here is that I don't think the 2gh boost is going to do much for me and it's going to take too long to mine efficiently.

if i were you,( and i am in most ways as a small miner) i would look at my BTC stach, purchase some U2s from a group buy and double or trible my hashrate, and put my BE on ebay for $15 bucks, then use that mney to buy a few more U2s off ebay, wind up with several times more hash with no more fiat expenature and no more mining infrastrucure cost. and with the hash you add from the ebay purchase you should return your BTC invest, maybe not your ebay purchase also but at this point we are all throwing money down the drain hoping for BTC exchange spike!!

Getting into a U2 group buy could do you well.  You could take the money from the Block Eruptors, and reuse the hub (if you have one) and get 2,3 or even 4 U2's if you find the right group buy!!
