Read the article https://coinspice.io/news/bitcoin-censorship-jack-dorsey/ and both sides have different thoughts about it.
What do you think it would be better to do at this point?
Do you really consider that Jack Dorsey should step in and take some kind of action?

Twitter leftist administration already been banning many people that had another opinions about different political and social questions. They did that in a polite manner but still got banned. I am not surprised that they want to make more  censorship on crypto related topics.
The other thing that Twitter is not doing well and their stocks are slowly going down. They are getting no profits and generally it seems that pretty soon it will become another myspace (if anyone ofc remember it).

The big problem is to want an account, a nickname, an url to represent something official related to Bitcoin. This is to induce those who do not know the project to error. Bitcoin is a decentralized project without a CEO. If you want to use or participate, you are responsible for verifying the truth of all information disclosed. Never trust, always verify.

That would be satisfying in some ways, but it's a slippery slope. Who is supposed to have authority over that handle? Who will Twitter/Jack give it to if they do take action? Bitcoin isn't a corporate brand, so it's not a trademark issue. What terms are being broken?

I think people should just get over it. Satoshi didn't care that bitcoin.com was already taken when he started the project. I feel the same way here.

Satoshi did not care about the Bitcoin.com domain, because Bitcoin.org was better suited to this Open source experiment and it was never a commercial venture for Satoshi.  Wink

So, this is why the @Bitcoin handle should also not be an issue for us. The most important thing would be to keep it away from people like Roger Ver, because they like to hijack Bitcoin <BTC> related domains to confuse people into buying Bitcoin Cash.  Angry

there will always be someone spreading FUD about bitcoin through different means, if it is not on Twitter with @bitcoin handle, it is going to be bitcoin.com or ... doing the same thing. we can't start banning the whole internet. all we can do is to increase awareness and fight back to prevent them from selling their altcoin to newbies while convincing them that they are buying "bitcoin" while they are receiving an altcoin instead.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Even better idea, do not use twitter Grin boom, problem solved. Seriously.
I bet that this person who owns bitcoin profile on twitter was hoping to sell access to that account for some serious satoshis.
Plan turned out to be a dud, so he started to besmirch the idea of btc entirely. Now whatever they decide to do with his account, will backfire in their faces one way or another, which is cool.

I think the risk that they're doing is that they're making names involving cryptocurrency. We all know that Twitter has been banning accounts who are spreading fud and hoax these days. It is just right that they hit the private messages of @Bitcoin handle but we can't still get rid of hoax about cryptocurrency through it. Fake news is everywhere and it is for us to believe it or not. There would always be hoax that would roam around but as long as it's not affecting our funds then we should better ignore it rather than entertaining it.

Honestly, I don't really give a shit about what most people say on Twitter since it is infested with trolls who love spreading their despicable negativity wherever possible. What is so surprising about them spreading FUD against Bitcoin here?

Ignore the fools and believe in what you believe. Also, Bitcoin has breached $5.5k mark! Grin

Though it's definitely a nice Twitter handle, it's just a Twitter handle. If a person is to take advice or listen to a Twitter account in general regardless of the Twitter handle, that person is bound to be burned anyway. This go for pretty much anyone who tries to buy bitcoin without doing any research whatsoever.

Nothing. The person who registered it first has "rights" over it. Just because you disagree with their opinions doesn't mean that you should silence them by taking over their handle. There's no room for censorship within the crypto community.

It seems like most of the lobbyists to suspend/delete it believe it's committing fraud, but I personally don't think that's the case. It certainly could be construed that way, but just like with Bitcoin.com, it's probably a reach.

Well, someone who first took the handle should have rights all over the handle, and I don't think there should be any problem with it for as long as people know that not one CEO controls bitcoin in its entirety (though of course the intent to spread misinformation could easily come to fruition with the said handle). Twitter should not step in on this, and just let things be since once they use admin powers to remove the rights of whoever controls the handle now, that would be another case of censorship which bitcoin detractors love to linger all over in.

Just let things be and just inform people that @bitcoin is not a company, a single entity, or anyone acting in behalf of the whole community.

Fuds are always spreading in every social media and the good thing about Twitter is they do something to stop it.
It's good that it's banning it because some people nowadays believe easily. As a social media user, we must not believe in fuds especially about bitcoin.
We should find our own ways to know the truth.

Twitter has just become another marketplace for cryptocurrencies. People promote/sell their projects/coins and this has created a mess on twitter.
What do you do about it? Just don't trust whatever people say on Twitter. There are people who can go to any extent just to scam you.
I don't think it would matter if Twitter even bans the @bitcoin handle because people would still buy BTC if they wanted to..

Twitter is a private company, it by definition can't be censorship if they do something with their platform. In fact, the real censorship is telling Twitter what they can and can't do with their platform. If I were in their shoes, I would personally nuke that account. It's deceptive and scammy to have a twitter handle for one organization, yet actively use it to promote it's competitor. This is how we end up with newbies who by mistake send their coins to wrong blockchain.

I totally agree, because that account is really misleading people to think that this is a real Bitcoin handle. But we all know that @bitcoin twitter handle has been on the hands of Roger Ver or someone shilling for bitcoin cash. Actually, I opened up a thread in B&H [Reminder]: Specially for newbies BCH is not BTC.
