Actually, it is an undeniable fact that there are many serious competitors in the market against the Ethereum platform. However, I think it is too early for these competitors to replace Ethereum, on the market. Because meanwhile, the developers of Ethereum continue their works.

definitely not.
ethereum has too many issues to be able to remain on top. from the bugs in the platform to the exploits in their smart contracts, the problems are too serious and deep to change. not to mention the centralization of it and the horrible scaling issues it has.
ethereum is like the token that paved the way for smart contract platforms to become popular and at the same time the owners made millions.

I think Ethereum is still the number one platform in 2020 for smart contract platforms, the closest rival in the smart contract platform is Stellar, now many projects are starting to use the Stellar platform as their smart contract platform,

They have big plans. Perhaps they are preparing something more than POS. I think that if developers implement smart contracts not only in ICO, then ethereum will be practically unattainable for competitors, no matter how bad the code is or something else.

They can stay as they are and still have a good chance to stay ahead of competition. If they have realistic big plans, even better.
I didn't say that good things cannot happen. What I did mean was to not underestimate the chances to fall behind on very long term. They are not that big right now, but they're there.

considering the fact that over the course of last two years a lot of better smart contract platforms have been created which solved a lot of the problems that ethereum as a platform and as a token has, i have to say i don't see that much of a future for this platform anymore.
not to mention that ethereum has lost the market to these platforms as soon as the scam ICOs (which were the only reason why it was number 1) started dying.
although you shouldn't underestimate the centralization power though...

I am sure that Ethereum will remain in the first place among its competitors for several more years. Since its competitors are not so attractive and their teams are weaker at the moment.

As you know various competitors are coming of Ethereum but ETH is more growing day by day and after POS price of ETH will be grow more and ETH demand will be increase.
I think it also that Ethereum will still remain number one. With the users who truly support the system and the movement in the market I think their is more to offer in the future.

Thank you for your opinion. In fact, it is impossible to know exactly what will happen next with Ethereum. However, I hope that some problems will be solved and ETH will keep the leading position.

It is not impossible that other platform will pursue ethereum as the number one smart contract platform in the future. But each developer of the platform such as EOS, Cardano, or Tron strives and continues to develop to meet the increasingly stringent market needs and solve the current issues on the blockchain.
Literally in blockchain and crypto space, ethereum still the main option as its decentralized with huge number of community around the world.

No one can confirm it which one will be. All of your mentioned coin has active developer and they are working to develop their platform. Maybe someone else is coming up with the best, who knows. However, if ETH implement PoS, their scalability will be quite solved in my opinion.

My opinion Ethereum still ranked 1 in the smart contract platform until 2020 in fact we have to be realistic that some good project growing day by day might be they will become competitors, who knows.

I see Ethereum above all others in 2020, Ethereum has a very large network that is capable of changing the crypto community and the world entirely.

Nobody can deny Ethereum is a pace setter in the smart contract space and has done well for the space but what I see in future is a future without Ethereum, this project will be neglected when better platforms comes on board, so many promising projects in the space now and will likely out perform Ethereum in few years

Still Ethereum will be at the forefront with its smart contract even though there are many rivals with other platforms. I am sure Ethereum will make a surprise in 2020 with a new scheme.

I don't think ethereum is the number 1 smart contract even as we speak, because there have been many project coming up with better platforms and algorithm to solve the issue of scalability, eos is one of that platform that even offer more features than ethereum and currently has more dapps created on it's blockchain than the ethereum blockchain, though if eth can solve the issue of scalability on the blockchain, then investors will look back to it.

although tron and eos are good but for me ethereum will still be number one of the many smart contracts. and I'm sure smart ETH contracts will still exist and continue to be used by the developers

Looking at the success of Ethereum in 2017, so many new ventures started their journey in order to compete Ethereum. Some took momentum as a matter of fact like Tron and Eos. Other names like Cardano and Zilliqa etc are also running in the race.

What do you think would Ethereum sustain this pressure and retain its leading spot?

How would the Proof of Stake, if implemented in time, work for Ethereum?

Would Ethereum solve their scalability issue?

Does Ethereum decentralization give it an edge over other centralized smart contract platforms?

I still root for ethereum because of its dedicated team commited to research and development. Their efforts will ensure they remain abreast with recent innovations or development in technology. They they will still be ahead

Ethereum has a great lead but it has its limitations and if takes to long time to send coins on the Ethereum blockchain, then new projects will move to faster and also cheaper blockchains.
I think its only a matter of time before Ethereum will lose its number one spot for smart contracts.

Ethereum is still the leading crypto of choice with companies such as google and some major venture capitalists plus the advantage it has as the first mover in terms of smart contracts.I think it will still retain it first position. Other competitors are not without challenge s
