I usually use this site https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ to see about the estimation of when my transaction will be confirmed based on the fee that I'm going to use. I think you can change a transaction's fee if its not yet picked up by a miner. Correct me if I'm wrong. If so, you can try yourself and adjust the fee if somehow it didn't work.

It might get confirmed or stay unconfirmed due to such a small fee which is why I advise sticking to the default fees. The default fee at present is not that big of a deal and you can sleep easy since it will get confirmed for sure.

100% guarantee for extra satoshis is totally worth IMHO.

I see that you just wanna save in fees, if that's the case you can just set it to atleast 0.0001BTC/KB (lower than that won't be accepted) and use viabtc's: https://pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/

The hard part is taking slots 'cause they only allow 100 free transactions per hour so if you get a message that it's full, just submit it at the start of an hour.

Notionally speaking, it is possible to have a transaction like that be completed instantly, but that's assuming that there are no transactions with higher fees that will be going through before yours. I would assume, that with a 1satoshi/byte fee, you'd be looking at, at the very least, a week. Considering there are between 17,000 and 18,000 transactions that are presently unconfirmed, those will probably be sent through before yours. This means that you may be waiting for basically all of those other transactions to go through first, aside from those with a fee even lower than yours.

We can't say for sure how long it would take. My recommendation is to have a much higher fee than that, because you'll be disappointed otherwise.

According to Jochen Hoenicke's charts ETFBitcoin already linked to, the last time you got through a 1 sat/Byte transaction normally (without acceleration or direct miner contact) was on April 21. There were other points in time like on April 19/20 and several times between April 6 and 12 where these low-fee transactions were confirmed normally.

However, if you look at the chart, in the last weeks there was a significant increase in transaction activity, with backlogs up to 75000 tx. On holidays transaction activity is normally much lower. So the 1 sat/B transactions that got confirmed on April 21 were probably lucky because of the Easter vacations in many countries with three or four holidays/weekend days in a row.

So maybe you're lucky, maybe not. I would set the transaction to RBF and try it out, maybe it goes through this weekend. Another major upcoming holiday is May 1 (next Wednesday).

It will never be the same as you can guess from the response before me from all these users. But in my experience which eventually inspired me to create this topic (Stop paying crazy tx fees(!) I paid only 1.9sat/B when pool asked me for 100+), the longest time I needed to confirm a 1 sat/B tx was over 5,214 minutes.

There is no guarantee period of time for your transaction to get confirmed even if on some website you will see estimations showing a certain period. Normally your transaction should get confirmed in 5-10 hours, but in the same time it could get confirmed in 30 minutes or 24 hours. The best answer for your question is that the maximum time you would have to wait should be no longer than 24-48 hours(in worst case) but normally as I said it should be done in a few hours.

1 sat/byte transactions were getting confirmed ~ 3 days ago. I would guess your transaction will be confirmed within a few days, but it's unpredictable. During times of high price volatility, transaction volumes usually spike up, making low fee transactions less reliable.

I usually use this site https://bitcoinfees.earn.com/ to see about the estimation of when my transaction will be confirmed based on the fee that I'm going to use. To be honest I do not recommend to use such low fee, it will be better if you pay more sat/byte although you are not in a hurry with the money.

I strongly recommend against using the fee estimator on earn.com. It recommends fees that are much too high. I would suggest looking at https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/ and then estimating wait time by mempool size, which is the second graph down.

Your transaction might get cancelled for taking so long.
Do not do it. Just pay the damn price and get over it.

I have tried this already unconsciously. Those where old stories but I can still remember it.
It took a large amount of time and I am getting frustrated in why is it taking too long.

But thanks to that I also have learned how transactions can be pushed by making contact with miners which could find your tx.
Dude, you dont want that feeling of waiting for too long with your bitcoin staying in air.

Talking based on my experience, it took me about 9 days to receive the bitcoin with almost the same amount of sat used per byte. But it all depends on many other factors that others already mentioned. Have you checked what is the priority of your transaction?

This is so true, better pay higher amount so you are not waiting in vain. That amount would not kill you anyway. I don't want to repeat such mistake also. Such stupid move if you want that to experience again.

Highly depends on the minimum fee being accepted by the miners at a given time, though that doesn't give you a direct knowledge of how long would the said transaction take before confirmation. There are cases in which a 1 sat/byte takes only a few minutes to confirm and there are cases in which it takes a tad longer--and that's normal and is to be expected anyway. To find out, you can always try 1 tx and should it take really long for your tx to confirm, RBF Is a thing and just bump your tx with new fees.

Considering the time it took my transaction with 106.5sat/byte to be confirmed, it will take a very long time for your 1sat/byte transaction to be confirmed by the blockchain network. I think this calculation will help you estimate the time for your transaction to be confirmed.

106.5sat/byte = 40 minutes
1 sat/byte = ?
 (106.5 sat/byte * 40 minutes)/ 1sat/byte

106.5 * 40 minutes = 4260 minutes

(4260 minutes)/ (60 minutes) * 1 hour = 71 hours

Its gonna take 71 hours for your transactions to be confirmed  Grin Grin Grin Lips sealed Lips sealed Tongue Tongue

if his transaction gets removed from all node's mempools he can simply just rebroadcast it
he said it's not urgent, I think he just want to consolidate his bitcoin Wink
@OP you can try broadcast your transaction then check your unconfirmed transaction on blockchair explorer
blockchair gives rough estimate queue number of your transaction in its mempool

Cool credit to HCP for mentioning this priority tag in another thread

I pretty sure that's not the right way to calculate how much time is required for his transaction to get confirmed. 71 hours means nearly 3 days and recently I didn't heard anyone saying they've waited that long even by using a 1sat/byte fee.

Your transaction might get cancelled for taking so long.
Do not do it. Just pay the damn price and get over it.
You can always rebroadcast it if it's "canceled" (as long as it's above the minimum relay fee, whose default afaik is just 1 sat/Byte, but there may be more generous miners and/or nodes).

@minersday: As MakeMoneyBtc already wrote that's not the correct way to calculate the time until the first confirmation. There is actually no way to do that reliably. You could try to get a rough number for the "mean waiting time" for a selected timeframe and fee, with the following simple formula:

f = chosen fee (e.g. 1 sat/Byte)
X = timeframe to analyze (e.g. 30 days)
Y = days in the last X days where the fee required to confirm was exactly f or lower.

Mean waiting time: X/Y days

The 30 day queue on jochen-hoenicke's website gives me that on 17 days all 1 sat/Byte transactions were confirmed. That means the mean waiting time is 30/17 or 1,76 days.

However, this value is treacherous as it only can take into account what occurred in the past. Actually in the last three days not a single transaction with less than 3 sat/Byte was confirmed (excluding accelerators and the like).

106.5sat/byte = 40 minutes
1 sat/byte = ?
 (106.5 sat/byte * 40 minutes)/ 1sat/byte

106.5 * 40 minutes = 4260 minutes

(4260 minutes)/ (60 minutes) * 1 hour = 71 hours

Its gonna take 71 hours for your transactions to be confirmed  Grin Grin Grin Lips sealed Lips sealed Tongue Tongue

that is not something you can calculate with a formula because it all depends on how many new transactions are going to enter into the mempool in the future. your 1 s/b transaction can never be confirmed if in the future all transactions pay 1.1 s/b and it can be confirmed fast if nobody pays any higher than 1 s/b.

the only thing you can calculate is how much time it takes to empty the current mempool up to your tx. which would be as simple as dividing the current total transaction weight of transactions that are paying higher fee than you by 4000000 (total block weight).
