Here is a response I had to write in the Bitcoin Discussion section for a newbie who was confused because of their (bitcoin.com) misleading marketing.

H I'm pretty new to crypto and I've been exploring and learning.  I was on the bitcoin.com website and bitcoin.com youtube channel and it shows the two different bitcoins.  It was saying it has lower fees and stuff so its improved bitcoin version.  Why is the other bitcoin more expensive then.
That bitcoin.com will mislead you to buy BitcoinCash. Because this is what they are shilling on that website.

BitcoinCash is not Bitcoin. It's like any other altcoin. Example: ETH, LTC and rest of the 3 thousand plus shitcoins.

Bitcoin is the real Bitcoin. So do not fall far that shitcoin (BitcoinCash aka another altcoin)

Go to CoinmarketCap and this is Bitcoin: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcoin/

The number one is the list here: https://coinmarketcap.com/

And that shitcoin (BitcoinCash) currently in number 4 position. Do not fall for it.

Quote
Why is the other bitcoin more expensive then.
Because it's the original Bitcoin. And the market demand decides the value. If there are no demand for Bitcoin then there will be no demands for most of the altcoins.

I think we need a sticky thread in which someone explains the difference between BTC and BCH.

It is not easy for newbies to know the difference between bitcoin and bitcoin cash especially with the bitcoin.com domaine being owned by Roger Ver.

I think no need to make a sticky thread about the differences between BTC and BCH. You can see the difference in the icon and symbol it depends on the newbie how they investigate which one is a real bitcoin and honestly there are many websites that can prove which one is bitcoin.

Bitcoin cash is just a fork version of bitcoin and I'm sure Roger Ver is trying to steal some newbies for marketing purposes

The Icon is also misleading and hard to see the difference, so it's easy for newbies to get confused. That Bitcoin(dot)com is very deceiving and Roger Ver is taking advantage of every newbie searching for the word "Bitcoin" in Google and then redirecting it to Bitcoin(dot)com.

Of course we don't want to spoonfeed newbies, however, we should help them out in the beginning and straighten things not BCH is not Bitcoin, in my opinion.

I'm sure someone without much knowledge of crypto but is getting into it has bought BCH thinking that they had found Bitcoin on special, and then probably sent it to a Bitcoin address and lost it.

in this case ranks make sense but generally they should not be used because ranking doesn't matter at all specially when it is based on market capitalization which is fake for majority of altcoins. in other words even of (the real) bitcoin wasn't ranked number 1 on that stupid list on that stupid website, it still wouldn't chance the fact about what the real bitcoin is.

in other words if the ranking was done correctly based on things that really matter such as utilities, adoption, processed transactions, decentralization, ... then bcash would have had a rank above 2000 so would other "top" altcoins such as ETH, XRP, DASH,...

Every newbie should learn how to read and ask questions and be more active in other sections especially the bitcoin discussion and this would not be a problem to them.
Avoid unnecessary chat on social media such as telegram there are huge scammers there especially on the ico, exchange or bounty group most of the newbie join.

This is a typical problem with newbies they make no efforts to research about the difference between bitcoin and bitcoin cash, one simple google search should be suffice to understand the difference. The fact that roger gets away with such gimmicks is astonishing, and who can forget that they burn bitcoins cash to create fake volumes. It’s important for people not to get influenced by social media before buying crypto’s especially that shitcoin, as it’s an alt and not the real bitcoin.

Totally agree with you. Bitcoin took me to crypto and then I heard about Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold or Bitcoin Diamond. It's nothing difficult for me to realize that they're different. The names were different and this difference made me google all these coins.

Rather than Bitcoin (BTC) vs Bitcoin Cash (BCH), people were usually confused between Bitcoin Cash vs BitConnect before because some exchanges listed Bitcoin Cash as BCC - the same with BitConnect at that time. However BitConnect's dead now and newcomers to crypto only knows it as one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in the last decades.

I feel that bitcoin.com's marketing strategy is a subtle attempt to shill the coin without the newbies knowing it. The site didn't even made things clear regarding the differences of the two, and just head on and redirect users into BCH buying page. Perhaps there should be a sticky or some sort of announcement on bitcoin channels regarding the differences of the two for newbies and other people to not get confused and buy the wrong coin.

I am sorry I should have mention it

I feel that bitcoin.com's marketing strategy is a subtle attempt to shill the coin without the newbies knowing it.
I wouldn't call it subtle. I'd call it a blatantly obvious attempt to trick newbies. You go to bitcoin.com, and click on the "Buy Bitcoin" button at the top, or the big "Buy Bitcoin" banner that takes up half your screen, and it directs you to a buy page with "Buy Bitcoin" in huge letters and buttons to buy BCH. Or click on the wallet page to download a "bitcoin wallet" which will allow you to "send and receive bitcoin". Or maybe even read some of their guides about "Getting Started with Bitcoin".

The entire website deliberately makes as little mention of BCH as possible, and any time it does it immediately refers to BTC as "bitcoin core", which is just laughable to anyone who knows anything about bitcoin. Their entire marketing strategy is based off fooling newbies in to buying the wrong coin.

Initially was also confused by the difference between the two too. BCH tries to pretend to be BTC but their differences are VAST.

The key difference lies in how they approach scaling.

BCH: On-chain / horizontal scaling
BTC: Off-chain / vertical scaling

Came across this damn good analogy that every newbie can understand:

Quote
Imagine a highway with a bridge toll. If we have a million people on the bridge, it becomes harder and harder to drive. In addition, the Bitcoin system allows you to “cut the line” and pay a higher toll which gave us the 111 satoshi example as of this writing (bullets above). If you want to get to through the toll booth faster you pay 222 satoshis… 444 satoshis… so on and so forth. This is only an issue because so many people want to use the freeway! Now one solution is to increase the number of lanes on the freeway (Bitcoin cash) and another solution is to build vertically such
that we have infinite room (for a second just imagine small planes or flying cars exist). By building vertical (layer two) you now have zero worries about the number of lanes and you can charge them a very small fee for “flying” through the check point/toll booth.

In short, when the system gets clogged should you build more lanes (horizontal scaling) or come up with something new and innovative that allows you to scale vertically where there is no upper bound limit? Now you see why we believe in the lightning network.

From our previous comments you can see that from a technical perspective we think off-chain scaling will work the best. By increasing the block size, you may be able to fit more transactions into the block (more lanes on the freeway) but… What happens when more and more people jump on the system? The answer is the file gets too big (bridge gets too wide) and you have a central entity since only a super computer can act as a node (only 1-2 freeways could ever support so many cars on the bridge).

Not only Bitcoin Cash, but also others Bitcoin-prefixed name-calling coins are fake bitcoins. They are only other altcoins, simply abuse the bitcoin-prefix to steal money for crypto investors, whom don't determinantly enough to stick with official bitcoin.
For me, in crypto, there is only one bitcoin, with the ticker BTC (BTC). It is an unique bitcoin.

Bitcoin Cash, Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Private, Bitcoinz and many more. So many coins just trying to take Bitcoin's good name! Best form of flattery is imitation, but this is going too far.

Here are the list of what newbies should be aware of

Website : Bitcoin.com (Bitcoin Cash) vs Bitcoin.org (Bitcoin)
Reddit : r/btc (Bitcoin Cash) vs r/Bitcoin (Bitcoin)
Twitter : @Bitcoin (Bitcoin Cash) vs @btc (Bitcoin)

Note that Bitcoin Cash is a centralized shit coin and is NOT the true Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is Bitcoin.

-snip-
You are right, but while these other coins leech off bitcoin, they at least don't try to pretend that they are bitcoin.

The only reason we have ever even heard of Bitcoin Gold, Bitcoin Diamond, Bitcoin Private, etc,. is because they leech from the Bitcoin name. If the exact same thing had been launched as a non-bitcoin related altcoin, they would all be completely unknown projects, because they are all trash. However, at least if you go to their websites, none of them are pretending to be bitcoin. They even have their full names in the URL of their sites.

Everything about BCH is deceptive, right from the "bitcoin.com" URL. If they are so sure their coin is so good, why can't it stand on its own merits? Why do they have to continually trick newbies in to buying that trash?

They know that their coin is not good, and that without dirty tricks they have no chance to succeed. So they use the existing infrastructure and bitcoin name as the thief would use the ladder to climb to the open window and steal something. Why build something from a foundation, if you can use someone else's achievements. Combine that with lack of regulation, ignorance, confusion and many other things, and you get perfect opportunity to make profit at the expense of those who can not sue / complain for anything.
