Definitely Bitcoin will remain the most important cryptocurrency in the future. Every day, more and more people want to own it and this will lead to its incredible growth. The rest of the coins will follow him in price, but they will not be used much.

Obviously the exact answer is Bitcoin but because the bitcoin is very expensive and difficult to get, maybe there will be crypto out there with low prices, low fees, fast transactions which will begin to dominate in terms of utilizing payments at merchants. who do i mean this? hmmm XLM? XRP? i don't know exactly wait...of course bitcoin can't be replaced, bitcoin is the best ever and ever. talking about "the future" means not talking about the highest price anymore, meaning that it will discuss its functions and uses in real life.

I think that no one except bitcoin and litecoin. As absolutely correctly noted, Bitcoin is a gold cryptocurrency, and litecoin is silver. I do not think that something can change this situation.

Lots of potential coins are on the list but no coin could beat bitcoin. It has passed all the tests of time. It is actively and continuously developing despite all the changes and challenges that the market is facing. It has all the potential to be the currencynot just in crypto but in every country that would adopt it.

If you are talking specifically about next generation smart contract based coins then i think ada, icx, neo and eos have the potential to make a mark some other projects like tron and aion also have good potential but only if the team and developers keep together and stay focussed on their development and obviously Eth is going to be the ultimate king in this class by then.

In the current case, btc seems more convenient. Others may not be able to progress much further in the case of dominance. btc is in first place, followed by a few ones.

A lot of coins are focusing on exchanges, smart contracts etc. Then there are many very small coins for specific uses or ones like Digibyte that sounded good but never got any traction.
I wasn't around, but I don't imagine that in the past people carried around 20 dollar gold pieces, they probably just used silver. So if we think of Bitcoin as a new type of digital gold, what will be the silver to actually buy things? Could a deflationary crypto ever work? Meaning any crypto that has a limited amound and doesn't inflate a bit each year. People need to be incentivized to actually spend it rather than hodl and hope it goes up.
Anyway, I'm hoping to get educated here. The candidates I currently see are Bitcoincash, Litecoin, and Dash. I choose these because they are all well known, seem to have pretty good teams, and are used in some parts of the world at least alongside bitcoin.
Which one do you think will still be here in 10 years? Any potential cryptocurrency coin I missed?
Of the listed cryptocurrencies above I think Litecoin has the brightest future..Unlike bitcoincash which has taken an antagonistic approach towards bitcoin, Litecoin provides an alternative which can be used seamlessly and more cost effectively compared to bitcoin without the unnecessary hype and attention seeking developers that have clouded BCH..

So litecoin and EOS? Do you guys see EOS being used as a currency rather than an eth type platform?
And for all the people that said btc, can the system be updated enough that it could take over for Visa? (do tens of thousands of transactions every second)

There will be more coins in the future and one thing is for sure, the top coin is still bitcoin and it can’t be change even if there’s a new coin. I expect the top 10 coins right now will be reshuffle exept for bitcoin, because the competition is getting higher and every coins have their own growth unexpectedly.

Bitcoin is the king of this market and there is no any altcoin comparable to Bitcoin at this time because Bitcoin's investment demand is still much higher than in the top 10 CMC. I think it's time for top 50 coins to have a huge change in rank and real potential coins that will have a huge chance to compete with good coins. Personally, I believe that ETH and XRP will remain in two high positions and BNB is very likely to compete for the top 3 position in the shortest time.

At present, it seems that BTC can still exist in the encryption world for a long time, competing for coins. I think ETH, EOS is also very promising, and the technical strength is very strong. I hope that the project leaders will not quit halfway.

Well , I am still yet to put so much hope in any coin that I have put in bitcoin already, and I am so sure that even in 20 years to come, as long as the internet exists, we would still see bitcoin kicking very then, then we would have seen the economic crisis come into the world that would have driven the price of bitcoin so high, maybe by then we would not be equating the price of bitcoin with usd but we would use the smallest unit of bitcoin to make payment for goods and services because fiat will seize to exist then.

I used to think ethereum would become the biggest coin out there but than all other coins reached up. I know bitcoin has the biggest shot at staying number one and never leaving that spot forever but I honestly thought for a while ethereum actually could have done that. They had all the ICO craze for a while that made ethereum worth a lot, they had collectibles crypto kitty stuff that got 15+ million in funding and they had many dapps that could have been built on their blockchain as well and so forth.
It looked for a while that they would totally challenge bitcoin for that number one spot. Now looking at them even eos and neo and all that challenge their dapp world and binance started to challenge their ICO world as well. Bitcoin is the one true king that never gets rivaled like that.

Bitcoin still remains the favourite to remain here even after 10 years because of its immutable and use case in various sectors. Some other alt coin like eth, xrp , xlm , eos that has real life use and solutions to various transactions probelm will survive and be arround for a very long time

The question is about the cryptocurrency of the future, and of course, today only Bitcoin can take this place. But it is likely that there will be some other currency if we speak in the future tense. For today, I do not see an alternative. All other alternative coins have a very precarious position and on a global scale, I can not put a single one in the place of Bitcoin.

I think that none of the existing cryptocurrencies are suitable for this role. Too little time has passed since the cryptocurrency became popular.

What do you mean 'will be the currency of the future'? Because now you can use cryptocurrency as a payment system if there is a merchant who willing to accept it. I don't see a coin in cryptocurrency which created just for an asset only or other function besides as payment system. That should be questioned is a merchant or goverment rule, is the future all countries use cryptocurrency as legal payment system? And I guess not, maybe some countries will still ban it because they have on own payment system.

There are more uncomfirmed BTC transactions with the present rally and fees are creeping up. To me, BTC has yet to prove itself suitable for retail use. It seems like more of a bank account and we will need a better crypto to transact in, probably one with built in inflation and little or no fees.
