I had 8399 posts yesterday. Today I have written four posts and my current post counter is at 8400 posts. Can it be that (old) posts are deleted without being informed?

You only get a notification when your own threads/posts get deleted.

What probably happened is that a thread where you posted was deleted (thus, your post vanished as well). In this case, there is no notification.

For example: If this thread of yours got deleted, you would receive a PM notifying it. But this post of mine (that I'm writing right now), would get deleted in the process, and I wouldn't be notified.

If main thread trashed by moderator then you will not get any notification. Only you will get notification once moderator delete your post/reply specifically.

Edit:
Seems TryNinja already gave good example. Smiley

The posts which are copied or posts/thread which is already available on the forum can be deleted by mods without notification.

It is not always a moderator, people sometimes delete their own threads and since the thread isn't yours, and it wasn't deleted by a moderator, you get no notifications for it.
Only mods can delete threads.

We can only delete posts.
We can delete posts only after 24 hours. And in few sections of forum, we are not allowed to delete our posts or thread (for example Auction).

I think it depends on the section. There are sections where it's possible to delete a post directly, there are sections where it's only possible to delete it after 24 hours and there are sections where it's impossible to delete own posts.

Also, there are the Spam Megathreads around the forum and if you post there, there's a really good chance to have your post deleted when the whole spam megathread gets trashed...
If you don't post in spam megathreads but in average topics, and after a while spammers start to grow the topic into a spam megathread, your post will also be deleted after a period of time, so you can't be sure and cautious enough where to post...
