Well yes that you will be secured from scammers and hackers but you'll miss lots of opportunities and i think it is part of the risk that we're taking when we enter the crypto world, it is our job to research about the project  that we're investing with because once we found out that its a scam, we can warn others specially newbies about that specific project that only scams people and you could save other's money by your research.

But many of those opportunities are not real, even if there are thousands of coins in the market that doesn't really mean that you have thousands of options in which you could invest your money, at best you have something like 50 different coins in which you could invest, the rest are scams, bad projects or projects that are copying other coins.

So I do not really feel like I'm missing anything because I can invest in the best coin in the market which is bitcoin and in a few other good altcoins like ethereum.

That is true, we should only focus on the few cryptocurrencies in the market instead of wasting our time and effort to check all of the cryptocurrencies in the market. It is just about being wise and smart that in the long run, only the OGs and the real cryptocurrencies with working product will definitely make it at the end.

Cryptocurrency could be created by anyone and It's the people themselves to choose the most suitable for them and to avoid any fishy project because it's how the whole crypto market was intended to from the beginning and also the reason why bitcoin's code is open source which mean could be forked or duplicated with different name by literally anyone with programming ability. as you said, despite the overall cryptocurrency released amounts thousands there are only very few that are worth to put our attention intoand it's because there's no filter to which project or coin could pass to the public. If you look at history you will see that scams have need around as long as people exist. Why crypto scams are global issue and why there are so many of them lately, why criminals use crypto? There are similar questions and answer is always the same, because its better then traditional money. When you think about it its the same reason why we like crypto, its better for money transfers, for security, for everything.
Internet scams existed before crypto, some people get burned and they learn a lesson and they learn how to protect themselves on the internet. Crypto is the same thing, you need to learn how to protect yourself and your money.

We should implement a strict regulation on each new projects to ensure that all of the upcoming projects are really legit.

Then why to target cryptos as such.
But the problem is cryptocurrency gives many potential ways to scam people. Since, people are not that much digitally literate, scamming them become really easy. It is easy to hack a wallet or manipulate people into giving their pvt keys. In cryptos , people usually forget that they are responsible to safeguard their own funds and there isn't much what center authorities can do. That's the problem and that's the reason behind the ever increasing scam rates in cryptos.
