RONDA ROUSEY vs. GINA CARANO on Netflix…

I can’t say I expected that this was a possibility. I think Gina is quite a bit older than Ronda as well, but maybe not… I will admit I wanted to see this fight, but years ago. Now I just hope Gina doesn’t get her arm broken.

It's a fight that, honestly, nobody asked for. I didn't see anyone expecting it and, to be honest, I can't understand exactly what this fight is trying to promote. The other fights that Netflix has shown were even more exciting. But I have the impression that the female audience, like me, only knows Ronda, and that's been the case for decades.

I think your age is showing. Gina Carano is a legend in the female fighting space. This is a fight everyone wanted to see 10 years ago but it never materialized. She is too old to be fighting now, but for the fans I think it will be better late than never.

Someone should make a good thread about this fight since it isn’t a UFC event.

Did I ever said that I want him to fight immediately after surgery? No. I only pointed out, that after few days you can do light training, after few month you are most likely fully recovered. Injury was really serious, you are super professional athlete and need a lot of time to recover to get back in peak form - announce that you will be ready in a year. Case closed. No offence, but when you want to fight, you can name at least a possible date of return. Tom is completely silent about his return. All he does is going on interviews and telling how bad his injury is. And hiding giving more information on the injury and dont talk about return date.

Ask any doctor how long it will take to recover from any injury and they would give you approximate period. A week, a month, a year, 5 years, never. They will give some dates. If you get sick or get an injury. At least your boss and your family knows approximately when you can return to work. Right? If you can get sick or injured and tell your boss that you dont know when you will return, and still keep your job, then I really envy you.

Look at video I have posted above. He says that his injury is so bad, surgery was so complicated, that his vision doubles, "he cant even play with his kids". And then he punches pads and balls kicks-up... What about his dad saying that he dont want Tom to resign contract (that ends now), and want him to become boxing champion, because there is more money? That was said before UFC 321.

Dont think this is enough to give soil for a little hesitation that he really wants to continue with UFC and playing some background games?

I can't believe it has been already 4 months now since that nasty double eye injury. I think we were all hoping for the super fight between Tom Aspinall and Jon Jones.

Now we know this fight will never happen. If they strip Tom Aspinall for not being able to compete from having double eye surgery it will a big slap to the face for the man a lot of people thought by now would be the UFC heavyweight champion.

We all thought it would be a great fight between Jones and Aspinall, but time has shown it would be another massacre to further solidify Aspinall's position. I don't understand why Jones was afraid, since I'm sure he knew the level of his opponent. Now we're the ones who know.

He should take off the belt now. I'm not underestimating his injury, but it's been a very long time since he was injured. Ilia has been the most honest fighter on this matter so far. He's taking off the belt very easily, he's not locking it. I think this is commendable behavior...


By the way, Conor McGregor tweeted something like, “They offered me an opponent and a date, and I accepted. Now I'm waiting for the contract to arrive.” but then he deleted it. It's probably related to the event at the White House. It's not a fight that interests me, but I want these kinds of fighters to make money after their retirement...

Now you're just making sht up.  Lol.  Pavlovich was called months before 295 and was told he was gonna be the back up fighter.  He had ample time in training camp, he went to the weigh ins and he was in shape and ready to fight.

Aspinall on the other hand was just doing nothing when he got the call on just a couple of weeks notice.  And what did he do?  Yeah, won the fight in under two minutes.

Whine all you want.  Aspinall can't fight and it ain't no laughing matter either as we know he'll fight asap if he could...  Even if he's facing Jon Jones.

I think he's looking for new ways to fight, wanting to surprise his opponent, since his style is probably already known. And with his opponent, we already know what's going to happen. So, he'll have the advantage of doing things differently than usual, which his opponent won't.

By "they" you probably meant Khabib team, not UFC. Because they even tried to make a stare down between Islam and Kamaru UFC did not show greed flag for such fight to happen or even responded anything to day. It was "we think Usman would be great opponent" Khabibs decision at first btw. Some say that team Khabib is looking for another easy fight. There were lots of question about JDM. Islam dominated him, but majority imho were waiting for Islam vs Topuria (or Tsarukyan) fight. Usmam, with 1 win over Buckley, imho should not be given a title shot. Why I think it might be an easy fight - Usman will be 39 soon. His knees are destroyed and his prime is gone already.

If Garry could keep the distance and with Garry's reach then yup...  I think the fight could be close.  But with Makhachev's wrestling, it could be hard for Garry.  But we'll see, Makhachev is kinda undersized for 170. 

I think Rakhmonov would be a tougher fight for Makhachev tho.  Maybe that's why the UFC was so fast in removing him from the roster.  Lolol.

This is interesting fight card and I really want to see big boys Serghei Spivac against Ante Delija.
Both of them are huge tall guys and I can see this going in any direction, but bookmakers say Delija is favorite to win.
If you are looking at surprise underdog win than odds for Medic win against Neal are great, most likely with TKO.

Garry has an advantage in terms of reach. But I think Islam's game of fighting against the cage and tiring his opponent needs a lot of practice. If Garry gets tired, and I remember seeing him quite tired in his last fight, I might be wrong, but reach won't make a difference.

Having a week off really killed the momentum and see why they had these fight nights inbetween the main event numbered cards.
Didn't even know who was fighting on this one until some others mentioned the names of those fighters.
Will be watching the ceremonial weigh-ins happening later in the day for sure because will see how Fluffy measures up against Strickland who hasn't fought in over a year.

I see Strickland is an underdog, with odds of x3.10. Odds for Hernandez are x1.38.
Assuming it's true that a fighter is only as good as his last fight, Hernandez is a rightful favourite here. He looked really good against Dolidze and dominated both on foot and on the ground.
Strickland was somewhat disappointing in his last fight against DDP. He was pressing forward but was reactive in his striking and allowed DPP to control the fight. Maybe his plan was to go all out in later rounds but suffered a broken nose at the beginning of the 4th round, which forced him to be more defensive.

It could be a pretty good fight as both of them like to press forward and both of them have decent cardio. I hope Sean will learn his lesson from his last loss and will show up more prepared strategically. I hope Sean will win, but I wouldn't put my money on him.

Sean Strickland interviews are currently the most entertaining thing in the UFC. I hope whatever happens he can end up on the White House card. I would love to see him fight Khamzat Chimaev. Strickland is a great follow on X if you like his interviews.

Your analysis of the betting odds is correct, but what's more is that Strickland has lost 4 of his last 8 fights, while Hernandez has won his last 8 fights. Of course, what makes these streaks more meaningful is the opponents. Strickland has faced fighters at the top of the rankings, while Hernandez has had an easier run during the same period. I think that's why Hernandez looks like such a heavy favorite...

Sorry, but this is a toothless weight class in the UFC. Khamzat could remain champion here for centuries. Frankly, I don't think Sean winning this fight will change anything. It will probably just end up as another statistic in the historical record...

And he probably will as long as he will be utlising his wrestling to take control of the fights. He striking was effective against lower-ranked opponents, but trying to outstrike guys from the top is a different story. He almost suffered his first loss when engaging in striking exchanges with Gilbert Burns.
The problem is that the UFC frowns upon any fighters who would use the "blanket" strategy (taking down and lying on the other guy without much action), so they will most likely pressure him (one way or another) to be more entertaining and focused on giving a good show. He's still very popular among the mma fans, but he was widely criticised for the style of his fight against DDP. If he succumbs to the pressure and starts taking more risks, it could backfire on him with an unexpected loss.

I also think the UFC is trying to prop up Bo Nickal to be an American response to the Chechen/Dagestani "problem". Nickal's hype train got derailed by De Ridder, but he redeemed himself by KOing Rodolfo Vieira at UFC 322.

Sean Strickland just beat that guy’s ass… He was pounding on him until the ref stopped it. That’s the Strickland you love to see. Hopefully he can get himself on the White House card against Chimaev. He didn’t take much damage tonight.
