Does anyone here think Strickland has any chance of winning? He would have to be able to keep the fight standing, but I have my doubts if he can do that.
Anyhow, it's still a good match-up and probably more entertaining than Khamzat Vs Imanov. The build-up before the event should be pretty intense. Strickland will probably try to get into Khamzat's head as far as possible.
In my personal opinion, Chimaev has an explosive fighting style, almost always pressuring his opponents from the first second. Chimaev is very dangerous on the ground, especially in rounds 1 and 2, where he will try to target and take his opponent to the ground, then pressure them with wrestling while trying to finish them. So, I think if Strickland wants to increase his chances, he should keep the fight standing and keep Chimaev at arm's length in the early rounds.
Remember when Pereira first appeared in UFC 5 years ago, we were talking that kickboxer will quickly be dominated by wrestlers-grapplers. We talked that he is in UFC to bring more challenge for Izzy (because he became bored). Now this guy is dominating every opponent.
Ffs, 5 years have already passed…
It's been five years since Pereira's UFC debut. I still remember Izzy was in his prime, and Pereira was brought in with a ghost story from Adesanya's past. As far as I can remember, it didn't take long for Alex to get his first title shot. Alex has achieved the highest level of success in the UFC and his name is already part of the UFC's legend. If Alex actually fights in HW and wins a world title, he will become the first triple champion and a true triple champion in the UFC.
