For those, who is too lazy to open a link: many years ago YouTube stuff announced that their service will not support Internet Explorer 6 so people have to update it at least to IE 8.
It is not a secret taht Google is willing to get a complete dominance over the entire internet but who da fuck cares about the internet explorer? This is a browser, that was made just for downloading the other browsers. Anyone really cares about it?

In my younger years, many countries had monopolies commissions to ensure that competition kept quality high and prices low. Since the bankers have taken over the large businesses via fractional reserve banking, and the creation of debt, we have been told thar consolidation and centralisation is far better for us. Obviously this isn't true, as it increases the tax burden on the working public, reduces quality, and keeps prices higher. Of far more concern is the control these mega corporations have over news reporting, our health and our permitted behaviour.

Its really scary, everyone is now using gmail, google chrome, and youtube.  I try to avoid using any google service but sometimes its really difficult not to.

I would not trust them, same thing with Facebook.  They will permanently store your data and sell it to the highest bidder.  They are also working with the US government no doubt.

Microsoft cares about it and would like you to.

But they don't win the shouting match vs Chrome.

Brave is on the right track.

I am starting to think about what really happened before this guy got kicked out in the Google company as we can definitely see how much hatred he is giving to his former family. Well, in my opinion, business is business and you have to make sure to win against your competitors. However, market share is really something you have to consider as well.

But how did chrome won against explorer?

For me, google won against explorer because of the experience they have given to the users. When I was new, I chose Google as my browser because technically, it is easier to use compared to the other browsers. Microsoft and Mozilla looked so old and were demanding a lot. The experience I had in Google is very different that's why I chose it. No strategies, no mandatory downloads.

Google is not the internet, its just the search engine provides you the websites you are looking for while you searching for it but they are getting better at every corner they can and eliminate all the competitors from secret tatics is just a conspiracy and it might be true as well when we are seeing its growth is enourmous in less time span.

Do you have any solid evidences about them selling your identity? Or it is just another conspiracy theory?

Lol, I also have done it. I just don't like how google are attacking their competitors (Even if this are effective it is indeed very Unethical for my point of view).

The issue here is not the IE it's the tactic so we care.

They are doing analytics on data . It is very hard to complete with google in this segment.
As far as that youtube developer is concerned, there is no weight on it. Google said to upgrade the IE. They did not said they are not going to support any version of IE.

Google has a big dream to conquer the internet, and all of the rules will be made by them. We know that Google can do that, but still, they are difficult to make it happen.
If in the future, there will be a giant company that can compete with Google, I think they will fight each other to be the king in online life and real life.
So far, Google with their android system has already beat Microsoft, and the other operating system and they prove it to us.
So, it's not a secret anymore if Google wants to do something to make a better company than the others.
Let's wait for what they want to do.

Not surprised. I still end up using their services though mostly because people I know use them. Besides I can't find alternatives.

How do people feel about paid services? I believe there are paid emails but are there alternatives to say, Youtube?

This one. We always say capitalism rewards the most efficient but left to their own, companies eventually setup monopolies, which kills emerging competition, hindering progress.

I believe some countries still have competition standards for some industries but I haven't heard anything about social media and tech. Fact is lawmakers are old and not tech-savvy, as the Zuckerberg hearing has painfully shown.

this is total nonsense

the regulators simply become captured by the industry they're "regulating". People from the large dominant companies do deals with senior regulators to endorse legislation that, guess what, kills the competition, in the name of "fairness". The senior regulators get an easy, well paid job in the industry, or other perks like 1 hour speeches that pay them a whole year's salary ($250,000, that kind of salary)

all that "competition comission" stuff was simply the corporate journalism world scratching the backs of their buddies in corporate industry, and the bad news is, you fell for it

That project was killed by Microsoft themselves when they released Edge. And after not too long, they also killed their own "new" rendering engine in Edge as well, switching to the same one used in Chromium, so Edge too, is just another Chrome now.

A couple of decades ago, back when i still made the mistake of using Microsoft products, i remember avoiding Internet Explorer EVEN to download another browser, for that i used the bsd ftp client that Microsoft used to bundle with windows, to download a decent browser from a command line console, as God intended.

Google is, in a way, repeating what used to be Microsoft practices, now on the internet. If their web services behave poorly with other non Chromium based browsers, this should indicate what their intention is.

Unfortunately most people seem to be bought to the idea that Chromium based browsers (it not outright Chrome itself) is "the best" (it isn't).

Its funny how people worried about centralization in Bitcoin mining, or in altcoins, don't pay attention to centralization of web browser or operating system. Are you still using Chrome? and Windows?

Did you even notice when all the youtube downloaders were removed and banned from the "chrome web store"? What else is to come? Keep giving them power by your voluntary use of their products, and eventually (when its too late) you will find out...

You are actually making sense, By the way I would like to ask you a question what certain browser are you using right now? We should have to promote using free products that is what Github is currently promoting I am currently thinking of new alternative services such as UC for my browser I am tho having a hard time when it comes to emailing system

Neither a browser nor an email system is a complicated enough product to request the likes of google or Microsoft to create it.

It should be possible to operate using a browser that does zero reporting upstream to anyone, anywhere.

Search engines are another matter, granted. But there's nothing wrong with stopping the leaks one at a time.

It is indeed too complicated and sadly I have to have this kind of services, but what certain brands we should be using that helps us protects the privacy the we needed. Only if we could create such services that has the same goal of bitcoin ( the other only solution right now is to be more tech savvy so you could atleast do some white hacks for your information security)

It's worth exploring the possibility of decentralised search

  • Trawl sitemaps of local IP ranges
  • Use a p2p overlay to share results with other nodes

Mitigating the other clients from censoring results would be the hard part, but it'd maybe be difficult to really censor anything if enough people were running it

Then Google would be d.e.a.d.

It honestly is worrying, both the google search engine as well as youtube hold monopolies in their respective fields.
That is bad. Without competition, they can do just about anything and we'll have to put up with it due to a lack of alternatives, you see a lot of that stuff around the US.
Not to mention how much power google has over you, if they decide, for whatever reason, to kill your gmail account -- you're screwed, all of your online accounts will be axed.
We all like to crap on Internet Explorer, but any competition is better than letting google remain uncontested.
